  1. Tread Head, For MODS, I'd suggest getting the newly released program called CMMOS on Manx's Combat Missions site. It can install mod options with just a few mouse clicks. What this program does, it can install a whole series of mods with the same extensions. What are extensions? Extensions are suffixes that belong to a certain nationality. Such as textures which feature US markings are suffixed with a "_us" extension. Textures with French markings have a "_ff" extension. There are many mods out there that have these extensions. There is some sort of mod contingium (sp?) that produces mods with these extensions. I am part of the beta testing group within this contingium. Basically any mod by Marco Bergman, Gordon Molek, Shane "Feldgrau" Peterson, Maximus, PawBroon, and Fernando are suffixed like this. The stock graphics, to be honest with ya suck. Marco, the local mod genius, has made excellent HIGH-RES Shermans of every make, Stuarts of every make, Greyhounds, & Trucks. Gordon is a guinee pig that likes to repaint them with snow and camo. Gordon wrote CMMOS to do all this swapping easily and quickly. So I suggest you go check out CMHQ and Manx's COMBAT MISSIONS and grab everything from these authors. But hold off for a while. There has been a TON of CMMOS compatible mods released , but haven't been posted yet. I myself, have a German Uniform set to be released soon. These are CMMOS compatible versions of mods already out there. Also grab Andrew Fox's US uniforms on Tom's CMHQ. The German Uniforms will be contained with my CMMOS set.

This is where the PIAT shines in my eyes, quiet deadly and almost dead accurate with a Vetran crews.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Yeah I agree. The Piat seems to be very accurate for what it is. One little scenario that I like to play from time to time is "Bombardment" because it has some Churchill's and since Felgrau has made this new Hi-Res Churchill. *SLAP* Uh, oh yeah, well anyway, the scenario has thick fog and is a British attack on a town up on a hill. I played the scenario the other day and I took out a Marder II with a Piat from at least 150m away and up hill. In thick fog to say the least. Now as far as Rifle Grenades go, there is this other scenario "Crossroads" I play from time to time where I like to move my infantry over to a woods line where I know the German reinforcements pop up where I can ambush some with rifle grenades. This scenario has about every German AFV in it and I can take out several with them. Of course, I have to damn near close assult them to get my little infantry to fire them.
  3. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Pvt. Ryan: OK, I've got it. Is there any point in installing it yet? Should I wipe my bmp folder and start fresh once the new versions of the mods come out?<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> No, no, no. You don't have to do that. It works will all previous "batch file enabled mods". The only "new" old mods that we have are new versions of the Winter Allied Vehicles. We have added suffixes for swapping Whitewashed and Snowy versions along with several sub-options like with or without stars. But no, all of the suffixed mods you have now are still good. The reason why we did this program is because we ran into a problem when trying to code in the Camo Priests in the batch files.
  4. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by gunnergoz: Looks very tasty! Would it work with terrain as well? (dumb question #9924797)<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Yes, all you have to do is to add extensions to all the terrain files, then write rules to change them out. For example the rule I wrote to do my feldgrau repaint of Andrew's Heer uni is as follows: <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR> 1#! Version 01.00 2#! Name Heer Feldgrau 3#! Files German_Uniforms.txt 4#! Icon Heer_Feldgrau.bmp 5#! Key 0000 6#! Rule Sets 4 7#@ Black Helmet 8_Heer_Feldgrau 9_Black #@ Feldgrau Helmet _Heer_Feldgrau _Feldgrau #@ Small Chickenwire Helmet _Heer_Feldgrau _Smallwire #@ Large Chickenwire Helmet _Heer_Feldgrau _Largewire <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Line 1 is the version number of the rule. Line 2 is the name of the Option within the RuleSet. In other words it is what will appear when you place your mouse over the icon Line 3 is BMP list.txt file from which the rule reads from. (All of these have already been compiled and are included in the program) Line 4 is the Icon name which the option uses Line 5, the key is kinda like the "if exist" part in the batch files Line 6 lists the number of sub-options for the main option Line 7 is the first sub-option name Line 8 shows what extensions to install, in this case, is the Heer uniform files, 5016-5019 and 5061 based on my file naming conventions. Line 9 loads the "black helmet", again due to my file naming conventions So to do a terrain ruleset, you would replace Line 2 with something like "Magua's Normandy set" and then Line 3 with "Terrain.txt" Then if you wanted to do permeantations of the terrain set with different trees, say like you wanted to put in DD's trees instead of Magua's. You would write in two sub-options like #@ Magua's Trees _Normandy _MaguaTrees #@ DD's Trees _Normandy _DDTrees _Normandy would load grass, brush, tree bases and other stuff. _Magua/DDTrees would load just the trees All of this rule writing information is included in the readme.rtf [ 08-29-2001: Message edited by: Maximus ]
  5. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Ales Dvorak: General (Max)?<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> You called? Hey someone on this board has to keep it interesting. You can only get so much joy out of "Why can't MG crews run?" threads. Throw in a little politics, religion, and law, and then you have something worth discussing.
  6. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by The Commissar: Heck, I would be surprised if you even own CM and thus able to validly support your "pro US" claims in this game.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> You know, I bet that ain't too far off from the truth.
  7. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Ron: Very impressive, look forward to using this utility. Thanks in advance to the creators. Anyone know if a feature like this will be built into CMBB? Ron<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> It won't need to be. We can write into this program anything you want. All that is needed is a BMP file list and then you write rules to do the file swapping. I just completely tested my RuleSet and it's a good thing I did 'cause I did find a few errors. But all is cool now. Just gotta send it off to Gordon, so he can get it ready to go.
  8. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Madmatt: I am going to try like hell to get this program and the first batch of CMMOS mods posted this week! Madmatt<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> OK, no problem. I just finally buckled down to get this Ruleset done. I like to procrastinate too.
  9. For those that don't know, CMMOS (CM Mod Option Selector) is a program written by Gordon Molek to replace the nasty batch file system. I have added a RuleSet myself to do German Uniforms. Here is the result. It's hard to see, but I have Scipio's Heer Splinter Uniform selected and below that I have options to switch between 5 different but relevant helmet textures (there's different relevant helmets available for each uniform-you don't need a Splinter helmet option for SS Fall for example) and two styles of trousers-full camo pants are obviously visibile, but if you scroll down, the regular feldgrau pants are available with yet again the same 5 helmet textures to choose from. And then so to apply a certain uniform, trouser and helmet texture, you just click the "Apply" button and the uniform and options will be automatically installed. NOTE: Unfortunately you'll have to redownload these Uniforms in their CMMOS- Compatible forms for this to work as there is a complex naming convention used in this RuleSet. I have included the following uniforms in this set: 1) Maximus's Felgrau repaint of Andrew Fox's Heer and SS uniforms. 2) Andrew Fox's original "Brown" Heer and SS uniforms 3) Scipio's Splinter Heer uniform 4) Scipio's Tan-Water Heer uniform 5) Andrew Fox's Splinter Heer uniform 6) Andrew Fox's Spring, Fall, and Drill SS uniforms 7) Andrew Fox's Splinter FJ uniform 8) rangefer's Feldwebel FJ uniform 9) Maximus's own crazy creation Blue-water FJ uniform 10) Andrew Fox's entire Panzercrew set I tried to only include the latest Hi-Res Uniforms in this set. I thought about DD's uniforms, but decided against it. However you could write in the rulesets of your own. No Volksturm options are included at this time as it is assumed that you have Andrew's Volksturm uniform already installed. But anyway, this Program is really cool. This makes changing between uniforms and options very easy. [ 08-29-2001: Message edited by: Maximus ]
  10. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Fieldmarshall: I would also like to point out that I live in California, if I am Panzerman....(which is a CANADIAN) how could I live in two different countries at the same time<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Good point, but we've heard that before with another former member. Well at least that's what their profiles said. And no it wasn't Panzerman either. It was our good old friend Benny Maneiri. He had several different login names and each showed different locales. But if you really are from California, then maybe you're right. But that still is a little ironic into the simialrities between you and Panzerman's behavior. Which brings me to another question, I might be totally wrong, but are you a teen-ager? Just asking...
  11. Hmmm, another observation if you will. Panzerman also like to dig up these old Alpha screenshots of CMBO. Things to make you go, Hmmmm.
  12. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Fieldmarshall: Screw you maximus...and I have horrible spelling on the comp............without a checker anyway................so screw you..I am not panzerman!<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Again, just another observation, but you need a spell checker to know you've spelled something (in)correctly? Usually most people mispell words, but most are due to typos. With Panzerman, it's something of a different nature. However with you, I'm not so sure either way.
  13. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Hoopenfaust 101: This is hilarious. I kinda thought the same as Maximus (not actually believing FM was Panzerman) but he resembled his style and attitude. FieldMarshall I commend you on your effort and how much you've appeared on this forum in the last month. But its wierd I was thinkin' the same way....<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> See, I'm not the only one. Its just based on a series of observations I've made since Fieldmarshall's appearance. The two definately have their similarities. That's basically all I'm saying. Not to flame or anything, just something I've noticed.
  14. Is it just me or does Fieldmarshall remind you alot of Rob "Panzerman" Disney? They both have about the same spelling skills. And both come up with these crazy tournaments or metacampaigns. I don't know, but it's almost too much to be coincidence.
  15. In my not so humble opinion, the only thing that can be gamey in a game is something that takes advantage of a loop-hole or shortcoming in the game's engine or coding. Any tactic or order is not gamey. Using an error in the game's engine as an advantage is. Simple as that. Honestly I think the victory point system is gamey. Because in discussions in the past, people always talk about the gamey Victory Flag rush as the end of the game. The question is, in real life, I don't ever recall seeing a Victory Flag on top of Point du Hoc. I don't ever recall hearing a Sherman crew on the History Channel saying that they took out a Panther and scored 150 points in doing so. That's why I always said that if you play a game just to play for points by taking and holding Victory Flags, then you're missing the whole point, no pun intended, on playing a battle. The real objective should be to destroy the enemy. No more, no less. Because if you destroy the enemy, all the victory flags are your's anyway. [ 08-28-2001: Message edited by: Maximus ]
  16. It's not locked, it has been moved to the General Forum.
  17. This is why I don't have a Mac.
  18. If you intend to use alot of Hi-Res mods, I'd suggest getting a 64MB card if you can. I had a 32MB TNT2 Ultra and it was getting pretty bogged down with all the hi-res mods. I went to a 64MB Geforce 2 GTS Pro and everything works fine now. Of course I boosted my CPU and memory from a Celeron-433 w/128 MB to a 1.2 GHz Athlon w/256 MB. Point being, don't go the cheap way if you can afford to go higher. Because if you buy a 32MB card right now, you're going to end up having to upgrade again sooner than later.
  19. Just another note. It goes well with his Sexton Mod. He used the same base paint method, so they match quite well. Also, he'll provide National markings, more kit. This is good because it actually has different texture files for either side of the turret. The cord along side the hull is very crude at the moment, probably the original texture.
  20. Well doesn't every unit show where it's targeting when you click on it? Enemy or your own?
  21. Generic markers are in fact what you see when you have either yet to identify a enemy unit or if you have already somewhat or even completely identified an enemy unit, but it has moved out of your sight such as down a hill or back into some woods. It happens quite fequently. As far as Juju's set I do use them. I use 400-F for the German marker, 401-C for the US marker, 402-C for the British, 402-D for the Canadian, 404-B for the Polish, 405-B for the French.

  23. Drat! Missed the first 25 minutes. Guess I'll catch it during its replay later tonight.
  24. Here's the Alpha Hi-Res Churchill Shane "Feldgrau" Peterson is working on. NOTE: this is just the ALPHA version. Much work is left to be done. Coming soon to a BMP Folder near you!
  25. There's several. Which did you have in mind? EDIT: Well I thought there was, I've only got one new one and I don't use it. I use the stock ones. [ 08-26-2001: Message edited by: Maximus ]
