2.
quote:
Originally posted by mrcobbler: Just a quick question for a little clarification about the hi-res/lo-res patch files. If I previously loaded most but not all of Gordon's mods (for instance I loaded all the Brit Camo mods but left out the Brit regular), when I copy in the patch .bmp's I will get some of the Brit regular files. Now using the utility (the BEST!) and choosing the British regular, won't I get a mix of the couple of new .bmp's with whatever else I used as that mod? So the only way to keep someone elses British mod would be to make sure none of the patch files for that mod are added in. Correct? Shoeman

Well to add on that, it'd just be as easy to go ahead and install all the regular British stuff. It can't hurt anything.
 3.
quote:
Originally posted by lcm1947: Andrew I got everything sorted out and am now the proud owner or user of your extremely neat US uniforms. Kick Ass! Thanks so very much for all your work and time. I can hardly wait until some one posts the patches for said US uniforms. Also I will be downloading the rest of the Allied uniforms as soon as they're ready. Just cannot thank you enough.

Do you have the German Uniforms? If not, then just hold off as I have CMMOS versions of all of the latest and greatest German uniforms including all of Andrew's and Scipio's.
 4.
quote:
Originally posted by Maximus: As far as the White Scout Car goes, as a matter of fact, I wrote Gordon saying that we need a CMMOS compatible version of that mod for this very reason. So just stay tuned for that one as well.

Hi, I need to ammend that post. There is a batch file, now CMMOS compatible version of the White Scout Car mod already out there (m3a1_batch.zip). It's at Manx's site with the original mod. As a beta tester, I just never downloaded the batch compatible version so I wasn't aware of it.

 6. Tom, you gonna get these up anytime soon? I need to get that German Heer Tanwater uniform added to my CMMOS set.
 7.
quote:
Originally posted by lcm1947: No Maximus I use Go!Zilla. Do you suppose that's my problem? What download program would you suggest if Go!Zilla is my problem. Actually I have been unable to download any of Andrews uniform mods so just kind of gave up trying but thought I'd try his new one here but as you know it's not working either. I just got through downloading some other mods like the Allied carrriers and some older mods but for some reason just can't D/L anything of Andrews. Any advise or help would as always be appreciated.

You might want to try Getright. It seems to be the standard download manager.
 8. OK, Let's start this from the beginning. First of CM *will* run from the CD. However if you do that, no matter what you install whether it be graphic mods or scenarios, they won't we accessed because if you run off of the CD, the executable you are accessing is indeed on the CD and will only pull "resources" of of the CD. OK, now then. If you are indeed running of of the CD, then your attempts at saving games are probably not even happening as it obviously won't write to the CD. I have a feeling that this is what you're doing. Your shortcut was probably pointing to the executable on the CD OK. Now that we got that out of the way, let's go back to the install process. When you get your CD, and assuming you have a Windows PC, you place the CD in the drive. There is NO auto-play feature. So in order to install it, you have to manually access your CD drive through "My Computer" and select your CD drive. Then the CD contents will show. You must double-click on Setup.exe. This installs the game to the Hard drive. Now to play from the Hard drive you must make a shortcut from the Combat Mission executable from the directory in which you installed the game. The default directory is C:\Program Files\Cmbo. Make a shortcut from that directory and then ALL your problems will be solved. Then to test it. Start a game. Save it using ALT-S and then Abort Mission. Then go back to the Scenario listing. Your saved game WILL appear in RED-ORANGE text at the top of the scenario list. There is no bug here. It's just a matter of a shortcut pointing to the wrong place.
 9. Isn't this one of those "worst topic lines"?
 10.
quote:
Originally posted by Pvt. Ryan: Another dumb question. I have reinstalled all the Bergman, Molek & Co. mods and CMMOS works fine. However, when I originally installed all those mods I recall that there were many optional files and that some would need to be renamed to use the ones I wanted. (Such as stars or no stars in certain places, baggage or no baggage, etc.)Do I need to do that again or will the rule sets give me all those options in CMMOS? Or will that happen with the new CMMOS versions of these mods. Another example would be the Allied trucks. I remember we could choose between wood or OD side panels when installing the mod, but CMMOS does not have that option. Would I still need to do the file renaming when installing the mod, or will CMMOS eventually have a ruleset that will let me chose whether I want wood or OD?

Dammit, dammit, dammit! You found a loophole in the whole program. GORDON! Looks like we're gonna have to scrap the whole thing now. LOL! Yeah you're right. I don't guess we ever thought about that, however, as we have said before is that CMMOS just replaces the batch files. So yeah you will need to go back through and select which options you want as your standard set. ie. Must reduce all vehicle file down to their _us, _us_camo, etc. bases. Now for my German uniforms RuleSet I have provided all of these options in the rulesets. For CMMOS to work like you said, we would have to write individual rulesets for each individual vehicle that has options like that and that wouldn't be worth it. Know what I mean, so yeah, you still have to pick the options you want and set all of their suffixes back to the basic suffix. (ie, drop the _opt part)
quote:
Another question: I tried to select the British vehicles with aerial recognition panels but none of the Shermans have them. I think the only British vehicle with the panel is the White Scout Car with a yellow triangle. Is that the only British mod with that option so far, or am I missing something?

Well actually, that A/C regonition option was written in for Feldgrau's Universal Carrier mod. If you notice there are a few files in that mod that say _uk_panel, and _ca_panel. These are the ones that will be used. As far as the White Scout Car goes, as a matter of fact, I wrote Gordon saying that we need a CMMOS compatible version of that mod for this very reason. So just stay tuned for that one as well.
 11.
quote:
Originally posted by Gen. Sosaboski: Yeah, did that, but still don't see any new vehicles to choose from upon entering CMMOS. The thing didn't come with a rule set. Could that be the problem? I see the "new" bmps sitting in my cmbo bmp folder quite nicely.

You WON'T see any new vehicles to choose from. Those icons are just general pictures to show you what nationality or variation will be installed. For example the first Commonwealth Icon is British Sherman III/V. If you click that ALL British vehicle variants be installed. Likewise if you click on the Canadian Sherman, All Canadian vehicle variants will be installed. Again, don't confuse CMMOS with the CM Mod Manager. Also, Sosaboski, did you unzip the UC mod into its own folder as it contains many different options which will require some renaming if you want certain options.
 12. lcm1947, Not to sound too obvious, but you are trying to use Winzip aren't you? EDIT: Whoops, I should also say that if the download was cut short, or incomplete, then Winzip cannot open the zip file. Try downloading it again and see if that works. [ 09-01-2001: Message edited by: Maximus ]
 13.
quote:
Originally posted by AndrewTF: Sorry I guess I could take them back and forget I ever made them I promise not to make any more German uniforms, HONEST! Although, come to think of it, the Gerbirgsjäger need work... [ 09-01-2001: Message edited by: AndrewTF ]

I'm kidding, this just means that I need to update the rules and send in a CMMOS compatible version. Do I understand this correctly that you have different uniforms for the UK, CA, and PO? If so, then that'll be cool as to I'll be able to have options to switch bewteen them and any different shoulder patches too. Do you have a list of your US divisional patches as to what they are. I know a few, but I don't know them all. I ask because I could code up a Ruleset for those as well.
 14.
quote:
Originally posted by Gen. Sosaboski: OK, let's see. Firstly, it looks great, thanks to all involved! I downloaded "Feldgrau"'s Universal Carrier mod from "Der Kessel" which said it was CMMOS version. However, after unzipping it into both the CMMOS folder itself and the "cmbo" bmp folder, I see nothing. Is there a problem here? Sorry for not being completely computer literate.

Don't confuse CMMOS with the CM Mod Manager. To use any CMMOS mod, just unzip the files into the CMBO/BMP folder. Or into their own folder first to see if any renaming is required, and then copy them over to the BMP folder. Remember, this program is just a new interface for the batch file mods.
 15. Well burn me boots! Now I gotta add yet another German uniform to the ruleset. Andrew, what am I gonna do with you??? Looks like I'm gonna have to do a Allied Uniform ruleset too to swap between these commonwealth uniforms. Oh well. I guess all for the better.
 16. I found it to be a little too dark, so I lightened my version a bit.
 17.
quote:
Originally posted by Slapdragon: Not for Mace.

Yeah those sheep are pretty tight, or so I hear.
 18. Very strange indeed. But do tell me, what would you be doing (in CM) that would necessitate the use of the keyboard, other than hitting the view buttons (1-8), TAB and ESC? It sounds like maybe your PBEM game has gotten corrupted somehow and its mucking up your computer when you load it.
 19.
quote:
Originally posted by lcm1947: I just noticed something last night. I was looking at the British vehicles and noticed that they don't have markings like the other country's. Is there a reason for this? Seems odd to me so thought I'd ask. Anyone care to comment and explain.

Well, did you ever get Marco's Commonwealth Shermans? They have markings. However, Marco is doing some revisions on them to bring them up to date with the Sherman II that came with the Full US Sherman pack. He's sent out the UK versions to us beta testers, we're still waiting for the CA and PO versions. Also Gordon is going to have to redo the Camo versions. Once these revisions are done, then it's on to the M24 Chaffee. At least that's the current plan, although I'd like to see him do the M10, M36, Wolverine, and Achilles TDs.
 20. Again, just to clarify. ANY previous batch file mod *is* CMMOS compatible. The CMMOS Patch file fills in some missing files that CMMOS needs. We went to this program because the batch file was reaching its limit as we tried UNSUCCESSFULLY to code in the Camo Priest. The only "new" or "old" mods (whichever way you wanna look at it) that you will have to download again are the winter snowy and winter whitewashed versions of the Allied vehicles. Because Gordon has a Ruleset to switch between whitewashed and snowy with stars or no stars. That's why we had to provide new versions of these with new naming conventions.
 21.
quote:
Originally posted by Speedbump: Gentlemen, This utility sounds interesting. However, for those of us who are not died-in-the-wool modsluts ( ) is there a clean and concise list of instructions for both the patch program and the new one? I am used to understanding references in the Peng thread, but this discussion has me completely lost. Thanks for all the hard work! Speedbump

If you're not a modslut, but want to get everything previously, just download and install Marco's Sherman Pack, Stuart Pack, T8/Stuart Roo, M8/M20 Greyhound pack, Allied Trucks, Gordon's Camo Packs of all the above. Basically anything from Marco, Gordon, Feldgrau are CMMOS compatible. Anything that previosuly ran with batch files will work with CMMOS. We just have some new stuff that the batch files couldn't handle. Namely CMMOS versions of the Winterized vehicles.
 22. The last 3 of my German Uniform set zips bounced.
 23.
quote:
Originally posted by Pvt. Ryan: I have downloaded and installed Marco Bergman's CMMOS enabled version of his Winterised M4 Collection from COMBAT MISSIONS. I see a file called pspbrwse.jbf. What is it and do I need it?

Oh, that's just a PaintShopPro browser file. You don't need it. Just delete it.

 25. In the form of a bump, I am now sending Gordon my German Uniform Ruleset and Bitmaps. He'll then have to compile them and then send them to Manx and Madmatt. You folks are gonna love this one. Now you'll be able to swap between all permeantations of Andrew's and Scipio's Hi-Res German Uniforms. Including different trouser and helmet options. NOTE: I have slightly modified all of these files, by sharpening them a bit and giving all arm files the same hand texture. So no longer will you have SS soldiers with different hand tones than the Heer.
