1. Well as a German, I'd definately want a MP44 for its long range stopping power. As an American, I'd take a BAR. Portable .20 cal (or is it 20mm?) MG. What do you think mows down the poor German infantry in the Demo? ------------------ Finally........Maximus...has come back.....to the Forum!!!
 2.
quote:
Originally posted by CrapGame: Andy, The end result of that scenario is solely dependent upon whether the Allies utilized the improved M23A2W+S version of the Kitchen Sink, which featured the non-slip handles, lifetime guaranteed non-tarnishing chrome finish, Water filter with replaceable cartridges built into the improved long faucet and attached Soap Dispenser. Clearly, as stated in previous posts about the inherent weaknesses of the early versions of the M23 Kitchen Sink, such as scratches to the armor caused by scouring pads and the poor performance of the short barreled faucet would cause the Allies to be quickly dispatched by the German forces in this scenario. Thus, include the one of the newer versions of the Kitchen Sink, and this has the making of a hell of a scenario.

ROTL! Man that is one of the funniest posts I've seen! ------------------ Finally........Maximus...has come back.....to the Forum!!!
 3. Well after scanning back through my email in-box. The confirmation date was Jan. 27, 2000. But I ordered the same day I played the Beta Demo the first time. I said, "Hell, this is the game I've been waiting for for a long time." ------------------ Finally........Maximus...has come back.....to the Forum!!!

 5. Allan, why would he go from a P200 to just a PII-233??? The object is to upgrade his system. ------------------ Finally........Maximus...has come back.....to the Forum!!!
 6. Know what you mean Steve. I had several thing on order from Amazon.com once and they shipped separately. Some by USPS Priority Mail and some by UPS. One shipment went out by UPS on one day, and then another went out on a following day by USPS. Guess what?? The USPS delivery came first. Whoa! Didn't know about the UPS shipping rate increase. And on a similar note, I received an email tonight saying that gasoline prices were going to go up to like $2.49 in my state due to a new gas tax. This email was one of those "Gas Strike" emails. ------------------ Finally........Maximus...has come back.....to the Forum!!!

 8. I just installed my new SB Live! card tonight and I can't believe the difference from my old SB64. I can actually distinguish between weapon sounds, and it plays all the shouts by the men. Presumably more channels to do it with. Anyway, I've had a subwoofer on my speaker setup since I got my system. However the way that the SB Live! pumps bass in unbelievable!! My speakers are called MidiLand They're pretty good little speakers. ------------------ Finally........Maximus...has come back.....to the Forum!!! 9. Stuka, what are you kidding? The guy at the shop said 32MB of RAM is OK??? He must be living in 1995. Actually you need to think about 128MB. In my machine I have two 32MB DIMMS and one 64MB DIMM. I wouldn't go with anything less than 128MB. Definately upgrade your system to the PIII-600 you won't believe the difference in power. For sound and video cards, look for a SB Live! X-Gamer. It's only $100, plus you get three games with it. I just installed one a couple hours ago replacing *MY* SB64. For video cards, you need to look for at least something in the TNT2 range so you can have full transparency effects in CM. Throw that Voodoo 2 away. Hope this helps. And by all means, get rid of the Voodoo2. They are barely 2nd Generation 3D cards. Besides they don't work well with CM. With a PIII-600 you'll definately want a better card than a Voodoo2 ------------------ Finally........Maximus...has come back.....to the Forum!!! 10.
quote:
Originally posted by Jeff Heidman: Also, why is the info for the units so limited? Is there any reason the info screen could not display all the information for the unit and its weapons? Like accuracy at range, both penetration and HE values, special ammunition, etc., etc? Jeff

Check the Hot Keys menu, my man! All the information you want and much more is available from the Unit Info Box, it will also tell you the amount of kills that a particular unit has racked up. It tells you:

Type
Top Speed
Engine
Weight
Ground Pressure
etc..
Armor thickness/slope
Armament
Penetration table What more could you want? All you have to do is hit "Enter/Return" with a unit selected. ------------------ Finally........Maximus...has come back.....to the Forum!!!
 11. Ummm, EXCUSE ME?? But something doesn't make sense here. So what are saying? That you want to play a game on an office NT system? Aren't you supposed to be working?? Watching the BBS from work is one thing, but playing a game is another. I don't think your boss is gonna appreciate you fighting WWII all over again at work. ------------------ Finally........Maximus...has come back.....to the Forum!!!
 12. Dammit, there's another one of my AWOL troops from my Army of . Sgt. is going to be angry. No, but I heard the new movie "Lame-Ass Ideas" is running a preview trailer for CM. ------------------ Finally........Maximus...has come back.....to the Forum!!!
 13. Damn, there's that little trooper that got away! And looks like he brought a buddy with him. Fellas, fellas, fellas. How many times do we have to say the same thing?? Voodoo 2 cards are so outdated and have had many other problems with other games for the same reason. The fact is that Voodoo 2 cards are barely Second Generation 3D accelerators. If you all with Voodoo cards would just spend a little money to get a better card, you wouldn't be complaining. And one tip is to just not scrounge up enough to buy a slightly better card, but to spend enough to get you at least near the top of the line. The TNT2's work great. Great image quality, full transparent smoke and buildings. My first 3D accelerator was a cheap 8MB Intel 740 card. I knew its features weren't for the long term, so I did some research to find the best card for the money at the time and I found the 32MB Diamond Viper 770 TNT2 Ultra. In fact, a lot of member on this board use them and love them. I payed about $200 for it 6 or so months ago. I'm sure it's much cheaper now. If you can even find one. ------------------ Finally........Maximus...has come back.....to the Forum!!!
 14. I heard that the Tigers in Kelly's Heros were mocked-up T-34s. I find that hard to believe since the two tanks had nothing in common. The equipment in SPR looked as real to me as anything, but people say that those were fake too. ------------------ Finally........Maximus...has come back.....to the Forum!!!
 15. I had this movie in my shopping cart (on Amazon.com) for a while and I took it out for one reason or another. ------------------ Finally........Maximus...has come back.....to the Forum!!!
 16.
quote:
Originally posted by Moon: My scenarios at www.gamesofwar.de are inactive for one reason only - I don't want anybody to download them and try to open them with the demo. Eventually you will become bitter people, unable of any social intercourse, an empty shell of your former self... I'll activate the links when the first CD's are shipping... 19. OK, so when is the patch going to be available? I'll wanna get that ASAP so I can have it ready to go when I get my copy, probably early next week. ------------------ Finally........Maximus...has come back.....to the Forum!!!
 20. Thanks, great! Moon's got some on his site, but they're not active yet. ------------------ Finally........Maximus...has come back.....to the Forum!!!
 21. For a good reference book on every German AFV in WWII get a copy of "Encyclopedia of German Tanks of World War Two". You can find it on Amazon.com for only $20. Here's the link... Encyclopedia of German Tanks of WWII Oops! They're out of stock! Must be all of us CM'ers buying it up. ------------------ Finally........Maximus...has come back.....to the Forum!!!
 22.
quote:
Originally posted by killmore: Other than that I would love to get a book that has color picture of ALL (or almost all) AFV in WWII. (with MAUS please) Picture should be from 3 sides (front, side, back). Every AFV has short description "life story" attached to it. Recommendations please?

I'd love to find a book with that too, but haven't had the luck. I was in your "starving" situation before, but as just a small child, when I found a book with every WWII plane profiled like that and it was only $40 and I could kick myself for not being able to get it then. ------------------ Finally........Maximus...has come back.....to the Forum!!!
 23. I meaned , DETAILED, as in type of hardware, and such. All I've found so far is like just Divisional listing with numbers and whatever. Nothing to say what types of tanks they had or anything. I mean basically, how did BTS and other scenario designers get their information as for what types of vehicles to put in and whatever? ------------------ Finally........Maximus...has come back.....to the Forum!!! 25. You know, that brings up an interesting question. Between battles in operations, do the infantry squads that are still a unit (still have at least 1 man) get back any of their WIA since obviously a small number of casualties are actually KIA?? BTS, Madmatt, Fionn, Moon, KwazyDog?? anybody know? ------------------ Finally........Maximus...has come back.....to the Forum!!!
