1.
quote:
Originally posted by Big Time Software: And remember, the single biggest variable about WHEN you receive your order is WHEN you placed it, not where you live. Steve

Sorry Steve, I disagree to a degree. It DOES matter where you live. If you live in a major city, you'll likely get it today, Monday. But if you live in a rural area where mail from the city has to go to another smaller district distribution center, then it's going to take another day. Just like my situation. The major city is St. Louis and then from there it goes to the XXX00 zip code town and then to me the following day. For all people that didn't receive it today, Monday. We will most probably get it tomorrow, Tuesday. ------------------ "I for one, am pretty damn close to Genius"--Ol' Blood & Maximus
 2. I use a PC and the patch is an .exe file and all it says to do is to replace the patch .exe file with the original .exe file. Then you transfer the new BMP files into the game to get the firey explosions. ------------------ "I for one, am pretty damn close to Genius"--Ol' Blood & Maximus
 3. Well, are you using a Mac? or a PC? Well, no matter what platform you have, you've downloaded the Mac patch. Maybe that's the problem. ------------------ "I for one, am pretty damn close to Genius"--Ol' Blood & Maximus [This message has been edited by Maximus (edited 06-19-2000).]

Tom

Get used to it Tom, the guys have redefined customer support. ------------------ "I for one, am pretty damn close to Genius"--Ol' Blood & Maximus
 5. Now that CM has arrived, where is Tweaked Textures v3.0?? I think we want the new skies and background hill graphics. Oh yeah, your new wall textures are cool too. ------------------ "I for one, am pretty damn close to Genius"--Ol' Blood & Maximus
 6. Yeah, but I'm smart enough to know that they don't work in the deno. The sounds in the demo are only 22kHz. Remember, pretty damn close to Genius. ------------------ "I for one, am pretty damn close to Genius"--Ol' Blood & Maximus
 7.
quote:
Originally posted by Germanboy: 5. They never run out of MG ammo.

Not quite Andreas. If you look at the tanks info box it will have two different numbers for the co-ax and hull mounted MG. I've seen one of them at 0. Don't worry I only noticed this during the last game I played. ------------------ "I for one, am pretty damn close to Genius"--Ol' Blood & Maximus
 8. Matt and Kwazy, the new sounds are sampled in 44kHz right? ------------------ "I for one, am pretty damn close to Genius"--Ol' Blood & Maximus [This message has been edited by Maximus (edited 06-19-2000).]
 9. citizen, why don't you go ahead and download them now. Just save them to a safe place and a place you can easily remember so you don't have to waste any time when you get your game. ------------------ "I for one, am pretty damn close to Genius"--Ol' Blood & Maximus
 10.
quote:
Originally posted by argie: Maximus, what means "Blitkrieg" You know, you asked for it Ariel

That's "Blitzkrieg" in its singular form. As for user-made or quicky add-on packs, it's impossible. Every unit modeled in CM is painstakingly researched to provide as historically accurate specs as possible. It takes a lot of research to design even one new vehicle. You have to take into account its muzzle velocity, weight, gun type, etc, etc. Then you have to design the model (which ain't easy) and apply textures. Then you have to do research to create all the different infantry types and small-arms used. BTS said that they'd tried to get CM2: Eastern Front done in about a year. So just hang tight. 11. I notice the StuGs in CE are more ept to getting bogged than the Shermans. Has something to do with psi and weight. ------------------ "I for one, am pretty damn close to Genius"--Ol' Blood & Maximus
 12. Yes & No. The Demo PBEM games won't work with the v1.01 patch. The game will play out if the two players do not update to v1.01 till you're done.
 13. Well, actually, if you find that in a large scenario the units run out of ammo quickly, then it's probably not a bad idea to make them operations. ------------------ "I for one, am pretty damn close to Genius"--Ol' Blood & Maximus
 14. I think what we're seeing is that the closer you live to a mjor distribution center, the sooner you get it. In other words, if the mail doesn't have to go to another regional distribution center before it goes to your local PO, then you'd probably get it today. With me, it went to St. Louis, then it has to go to another regional distribution center and then to the local PO. So if you live within a stone's throw from St. Louis, then you'll get it today. But if not, then tomorrow it is. I used to work for a postal service so I know how this stuff works to a point. ------------------ "I for one, am pretty damn close to Genius"--Ol' Blood & Maximus
 15.
quote:
Originally posted by Leftwing66: Maximus, where in St. Louis do you live? (I am in O'Fallon, work in Westport, and got mine today.) Perhaps we could get together for network game some day.

I'm sorry, you misunderstood. I don't live in St. Louis. I live in Southern Illinois. If you got yours today, then that means that I'll probably get mine tomorrow for sure. I just said that all mail funnels to St. Louis first in this area. Mine probably got sent to Centralia, IL last night and then down to my local PO today for a tomorrow delivery. ------------------ "I for one, am pretty damn close to Genius"--Ol' Blood & Maximus [This message has been edited by Maximus (edited 06-19-2000).]
 16. Well COG, the PS doesn't quite work like that. The ones on the East Coast or in New England got their's first because they didn't have to fly out. The other ones fly to the nearest ditribution center of the region. St. Louis is the main distribution center for the Mississippi Vally area. Denver, Houston, and probably L.A. are the ones in those areas, I assume. All this mail will go to those respectively at the same time. And then flown or driven to the next level of ditribution PO probably on the same day. Then most probably the recipient will receive the package the next day after some local shuffling. That's why it only takes 2-3 days with the USPS for priority mail. Contrary to belief, the USPS is more efficient than you might think. Especially with the levels of automation they use now. ------------------ "I for one, am pretty damn close to Genius"--Ol' Blood & Maximus
 17.
quote:
Originally posted by Pfalz XII: Hmmm, I am beginning to see a nasty pattern here.... Why are people who just now ordered getting the game before those of us who pre-ordered? I DEMAND SATISFACTION!! (Panthers at 500 meters will do)

I agree, what's the deal??? Ordered mine in January and didn't get it yet. I live in Illinois though. It's probably making its way to St. Louis today and then hopefully to my local PO tonight. WHAT!!! pvt_ryan is from Rushville, IL and I didn't get mine yet? What gives? ------------------ "I for one, am pretty damn close to Genius"--Ol' Blood & Maximus [This message has been edited by Maximus (edited 06-19-2000).]

 19. OK, thanks Moon, appreciate that. Now I can see how I'm gonna do my neighborhood scenario. Isn't it strange how all of a sudden the tension level has calmed down since the game is beginning to arrive? Well, the Postal lady just delivered as I was typing this and I walked out to the mailbox and no CM. Darn, oh well. Probably tomorrow then. Wanted to get started on my scenario though. ------------------ "I for one, am pretty damn close to Genius"--Ol' Blood & Maximus
 20.
quote:
Originally posted by Danno: Is there a building in CM to represent the 7-eleven?

Yeah, it's the one that always gets robbed.
 21. Mine will have a church in it. It's the one I go to actually. It's actually walking distance from the house. No, it's not one of those little community churches, it draws from all over the region, since we're down to like 3 priests for the entire region. I just happen to live near it out of pure coincidence. You'll see when I design my scenario. It'll be called Buena Vista as you might imagine. It'll probably be a village defense mission or maybe a meeting engagement. Don't know yet. I'm thinking about giving the elevations a 2:1 ratio to make the map more hilly than it is. Got my map printed out and I need to draw a grid on it in 50m square blocks. The tiles in CM are 20m square, right? ------------------ "I for one, am pretty damn close to Genius"--Ol' Blood & Maximus
 22. Been covered many, many, many times. BTS will follow up with: CM2: Eastern Front--working title "Barbarossa & Beyond" CM3: Mediterranean--covering North Africa, Italy, Balkans (Greece, Yugoslavia) CM4: Early War--working title "Blitkrieg", covering Poland '39 and France '40. BTS does not intend to do a Pacific version. Do a search with keywords Pacific Theater. Each to follow approximately a year or so apart. Gotta build all new AFV models, engine improvements and such. Previous versions will be kept up to date with the developments of future versions. So CM1 will be up to date as CM4 comes out. ------------------ "I for one, am pretty damn close to Genius"--Ol' Blood & Maximus [This message has been edited by Maximus (edited 06-19-2000).]
