  1. Great stuff, guys! I especially like this: "It is roughly at this point that the Canadian commander realises the significance of the ‘Long & Short’ battle name. So it’s long-range superiority vs short-range firepower."
  2. Guys, Having played both against the AI and via PBEM, I can tell you I agree that a replay feature would be nice. However, not having that feature is hardly a game killer. Since there is a relatively small number of units on the map (compared to a game like TOAW) even at the peak of the war, it really is not all that hard to determine what happened during the enemy's previous turn.
  3. Hubert, Email me (tedquincey@yahoo.com) a list of what you need and I'll see what I can do.
  4. Straha, Send me an email, please. tedquincey@yahoo.com
  5. Bill, The differences in terrain are found in their maximum entrenchment values: Fortification----------8 Capital City-----------6 City/Mountain/Forest---4 Open/Mine/Oil Field----2 River/Marsh------------0 That's it. Sorry.
  6. PB, Ah, I see. She's looking forward to the visit, then?
  7. Jeff, Initial percentages can be changed, but triggers cannot. Nope. Nope. Nope. NopeX2. Something like that, but with more options. Maybe, but a problem arises from changing core rules like movement and combat. Namely, how can two players play a campaign if only one has the "new" rules? The only logical solution would be for both players to use the same rules. This, as has been demonstrated in the Close Combat world, leads to a fragmentaion of the community. There will be some players using the "Armor Can Move 100 Hexes" rule while others will prefer to use the "Subs Are Invisible" rules. Because SC caters (think about how funny that word is here ) to a niche market, fragmentation is the last thing it needs. Nope. The latter.
  8. You're NOT talking Updates but Uploads love. Now that's different. Them women can't tell an Ewok from a Wookie...</font>
  9. Straha, Shouldn't you be changing the course of rivers instead of feeding trolls? [ May 29, 2002, 03:07 AM: Message edited by: SuperTed ]
  10. Final scores from the Newbie Reject Alternates: Andrewguy (German) defeated Sgt. Colon (US) by a score of 62-15 in Ricola!. Congratulations to Andreguy! Now we wait to see how the other Alternates did before we know who the winners are...
  11. The results for The Long and Short of It have been added to the list on Page 1.
  12. PawBroon has given up MODs (for today). Find out why at MODs & MODers.
  13. Galatine, I have no problem with you expressing your opinion here. As a matter of fact, I applaud it and hope you will share more. However, I do have a question for you. The comment I quoted above seems to run counter to what you said only four days ago. On May 22, you said, "Thanks for the word Hubert! It's good to know right off the bat that you guys are open and active regarding input." To refresh your memory, that quote is from this thread. Am I to assume your opinion about Hubert's responsiveness to input has changed? If so, could you please elaborate? I am not asking this to be confrontational. Rather, I am hoping you can share some useful information that could improve the game and the community. Thank you.
  14. BB, They do go Axis, but it only lasts a day. Since the time scale is 1-4 weeks, you have to watch very closely to catch it...
  15. Here you go: support@furysoftware.com
  16. RL, Good points all around. I suppose we could just split the difference and meet at Hubert's house. It's about halfway between us, if we fly.
  17. CC, Yes, that's why I'm handing them over to you now. I think they're broken...
  18. BB, No problem, but I didn't think F was for Field.
  19. Pun spelled backwards is nup, and that's enup outta you.
  20. Dave, Hey, quit picking on the old farts! They did fine when I used them. As a matter of fact, I remember their counterattack going quite well when the scenario finally ended.
  21. Final scores from the SuperNewbie Alternates: Dinga (German) defeated DD_Rob (US) by a score of 73-27 in Ricola!. Congratulations to Dinga! Now we wait to see how the others in the group did before we know who the winner is...
  22. Hey, Hubert, what do you say to a road trip to Washington?
