  1. I thought it might be interesting to see how well everybody is doing with spreading the word about CM. I have been able to bring five new citizens into the community and they are all very happy to be here. SuperTed
  2. Hey MantaRay, That's not a bad idea. However, in keeping with your baseball analogy, I would rather not start the game if I know that I can play only one or two innings (i.e. scenarios). I would rather wait until I know that all nine innings are available. It works well with my style of PBEM play. I like to maintain anywhere from 4-10 games of The Operational Art of War (TOAW) at any given time. I like the challenge of facing multiple opponents. It forces me to become a better player. Because the turns in CM are quite a bit shorter than those in the TOAW scenarios I play, I am sure I can add at least four opponents to my wargaming budget. Since there are only two demo scenarios, I would not be able to do that without duplication. So, thank you for the advice, but I think I'll just wait in the dugout until batting practice is over. 3. I am assuming that people have discovered ways to take advantage of the CM programming. In that light, I am suggesting that people post thier findings in one location so that they can be documented. Oh well, maybe this can't be done; I was just hoping. SuperTed
  4. pceclt, My wargaming virginity will be reborn when my copy of CM arrives. My CM virginity will remain intact until that time as well. I'm saving myself. SuperTed
  5. Hi guys (and gals (just curious, how many gals are on this board?)), I wanted to start a thread to get input from everybody on something I have been considering for a few days now. I think a generic list of "rules" would be useful for people playing PBEM (or whatever other multi-player format is available). For example, it would be against the rules for the player whose turn is second to change his turn after watching the replay. I was hoping we could all throw a bunch of ideas into the hopper and maybe somebody (BTS, TGN, or anybody else with a CM web site) could compile a list. That way, everybody would be using the same "rules." Of course, players would be welcome to modify these rules as long as his/her opponent agrees before starting the game. Any thoughts? SuperTed
  6. I guess I should have been more specific. I also plan to wait until the full verison is sitting comfortably on my hard drive. At that time, I would welcome any like-minded challengers. Sorry for any confusion. SuperTed
  7. For anybody who cares, I have an idea. So far, I have only briefly investigated one scenario from each of the demos. I intend to NOT play any scenarios (demo or full version) until I have a PBEM opponent. That way, I (and hopefully my opponent) will have no idea of what the scenario is like. It's like being a born-again virgin. SuperTed
  8. Hi all, I saw that SP:WaW was free for downloading at Matrix Games, so I thought I would hurry right on over and get mine. I was a little leary about downloading 278 mb, but I tried it and the estimated time was 37 hours! Now, as you all probably know, that could mean anywhere from 3.7-370 hours, so I canceled my download and returned to the Matrix Games web site. I noticed that they were using a product called GetRight to allow them to suspend and resume downloads when necessary. They said that the product worked well, so I thought I would give it a try (since it was free). That is where I started to have problems. I installed the MyGetRight program and restarted my computer. I then returned to Matrix games to download SP:WaW and was greeted by the standard Internet Explorer download screen (again estimating 37 hours). I found that to be rather odd since the documentation in GetRight stated that it would take over downloads automatically. Does abybody have any suggestions how I can get SP:WaW without tying up my phone line for the rest of May? Thanks for any and all help. SuperTed
  9. I must say that I am impressed! As much as I wanted to believe that somebody could actually create this type of game, I had my doubts. That is, until I got a peek at the Gold Demo. One word: Wow!
  10. Here's an idea I hope all of you (especially those at BTS) will consider. I have read in many places that doing a campaign with the same unit(s) is thoroughly unrealistic. I understand that units generally do not exist in their original form after the war is over. However, many soldiers who survive the war are (at least physically). My question is: would it be possible to do a campaign that follows the exploits of one soldier? Just a thought. SuperTed ------------------
