  1. Normandy, 1944, from Osprey and the books by Michael Reynolds on that period may be of help to you. ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  2. And I certainly would not want to be a StugIII commander in CM! They have a very short lifespan ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  3. Thanks for the update for Michael, ArmdChair...I love these names..Are these arms like padded arms or arms with bullets in them I appreciate it. Michael, let me know if you have a problem finding or downloading it. Thanks for asking. Oh, look for another little quickie like that one coming soon. "The Road to Manhay." 6. We will, Mike. Quite an introduction to CM. Glad you recovered Wild Bill ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  7. Ah, you are in great shape, Nathman. You must have put some serious hurt on the enemy! Good shooting!...Wild Bill ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  8. Thanks so much Nathman, a real encouraging word. Yes the new version can be had at Madmatt's CMHQ. You don't have to go to the depot, just directly to Matt's site. http://combathq.thegamers.net Please let me know if you like this one better. That first fight sounded pretty good to me! 9. They have some great books with two big drawbacks that keep me from buying them, except the "have to haves". Their prices are sky-high and most of their books have no index. A book without an index is like a bathroom with no toilet-paper. Too bad. Wild Bill ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  10. I understand the desire of BTS to avoid the appearance of duplicating what exists in other games, but I want to stress the fact that a good idea is a good idea. A versatile game is assured long life and tons of play. By being able to edit the size of the squad, pick individual squads, perhaps weapons within that squad and a name for the squad or unit (not the leader, but the unit) you introduce the capability for the scenario designer to go all out and reproduce some things that otherwise might be not possible. I hope it becomes reality. From a scenario designer's point of view I have a lengthy list of things that I feel would make for a much richer, more enjoyable CM. Its a great game, but who would argue that we cannot make it even greater? Wild Bill ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  11. The new and play through Operation, Team Desobry is up and available at Madmatt's CMHQ site, not in the depot but on the site itself. That is a little quicker to access. And you all know where to find the Madman so I'll say no more. http://combathq.thegamers.net ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com

  13. Listen to this man. He has saved my ass more than once. A lot of my scenarios have had some good advice from old Rune. He can help you. Tha man knows tactics and he knows the game. ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  14. Glad you enjoyed Wiltz, Panzer Man. Would you believe it was the very first scenario I attempted to design in CM back in the early beta days? Of course, its had about 100 modifications since then , well not that many, but I still enjoy getting on those hills and popping Germans Since I am involved in design, I won't cast a vote here, but I think those who have played some good ones oughta tell us about it. There are a lot of scenarios/operations out there, and it helps to know which ones are super good. 15. Lamentably the game does not have the ability for reduced squads or single squads without a platoon HQ. SOme of us are lobbying hard to have that changed in the future. Wish us luck. I think IPA hit the nail on the head. They had to have been 1/2 squads. Wild Bill ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  16. I've taken a look at this one fellas, and I recommend it. Its a very unique map and setup. I think you'll enjoy testing it. Good job, Groundpounder! Wild Bill ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  17. Thank you Fred. That means a great deal to me. And get the name of that Panther Commander...definite Iron Cross material. You are right, when the battles become that intense, the whole neighborhood knows I'm playing CM. The shouts, moans, and pleading can be heard up and down the block. "What's going on at 1743? Sounds like someone is getting killed!" "Oh, you're new to the neighborhood, just old Wild Bill killing folks." "My gosh, do we call the police?" "Nah, his wife will slip his medication in his coffee and he'll quieten down in about half an hour. Just turn up the TV till he does." And so it goes. Thanks, Fred! ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  18. Rude Lover...you gotta love these names! Well, Rude, since I didn't design that one, I ain't gonna mess with it. You don't stir folks food in their own kitchen Dick Reece did make some changes to it (He is the author) and posted it on one of the CM support sites but I am not sure which. He may find this and add a note as to where it is...Wild Bill ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  19. That is a very good idea, BeWary! I will write Steve and Charles and see if that can be done. Thanks for the suggestion! ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  20. A variety of scenarios and operations should be offered to please all tastes. I must agree with Pacifist and the rest of you, however. Smaller battles, tense, quick and decisive appeal to me. And today's lifestyle demand that such smaller battles be available. Over 1/2 of the scenarios I have done for CM are of this type. Wiltz, Son, SPR, Bruneval, Tiger, and some others are scenarios you can handle in one sitting and still get some sleep. And then there are the real quickies, Periers and the upcoming Road to Manhay are real quick Ultimately one must remember that the purpose of CM (at least as I understand it) was to portray small unit actions, firefights, quick hard battles. Fortunately, it can handle the bigger, mastadon type battles too. But not a lot of folks in today's "I'm late already" world have the time for them. And I HATE quitting and coming back to a battle the next day. I seem to lose my thread of thought and usually pay for it. Kinda like foreplay and then going home frustrated with a promise of better things next time. There is a place for all of them, but I lean toward the smaller quicker playing ones. 21. You have chosen two of the very best. I'm happy for both of them and for BTS. It was a wise choice. Congratulations, Madmatt and Kwazy!. I'm very happy for you... ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  22. Its a real adventure. It has a very good, user friendly scenario editor. You will like it. ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  23. That would be an intensely intereresting one, General. I'm looking at a few movies of that era to see what might work. Hard to top this little firefight though, for tense action. The final battle in Kelly's Heroes is anothre I am considering. ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  24. Was it Horvath that took it out. I'm surprised he got off that many shots He must have had that Tiger commander really shook up! ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  25. Don't you just love it! Good job, Berkut! Take 'em out! Wild Bill ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
