  8. I'll say this and that will end it for me... JP, that is precisely the cruel despots on trial at Nuremburg said..."Someone else made me do it." I'm sorry Dan, something like that cannot be ignored. That was how the real thing happened, people ignoring. This needs to reprimanded in the strongest words possible plus the ban. There is absolutely no excuse whatsoever for such behavior and to say "just ignore it" is a little too much to ask. I normally ignore all the rants, raves, etc. You never see me participating, but this kind of thing must be spoken against. This person must know just how abhorrent this is! ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com

I try my best to avoid these kinds of threads, but I'm telling you right now... this is really sick. 18. Thanks fellas. Historically, the Poles were out for revenge as much as anything else, and who can blame them. The attack was spontaneous as the Polish units were lost and did not anticipate running into the 2nd Panzer Division. Both sides were surprised. The Germans were intent on escaping. The Poles were intent on killing them. Enthusiasm and desperation breed losses...terrible losses. My tactic was to keep the enemy occupied in the center of the map from the high ground north of the city while a strong flanking force entered the town from the Polish left. It worked well for me. And the comment from Ski Fish on noting if one side should be played over the other, he has a good point. I'll keep that in mind. Personally, however, in my own testing, I had challenge playing either side. When one controls the victory hexes, he always has an advantage. The enemy must come to him. The burden, however, historically is, how many units can you exit? If you just sit in the town and shoot at the Poles, yes, you can get a handy victory, but how many units can you exit is the challenge for the German player. Try playing the Germans with that in mind and see if it is a little more difficult. Hold the flags and exit units. Might be easy...might not. ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com

  20. German Radar is vectoring fighters directly into attacking British bomber formations, creating chaos. It is decided to get some of this equipment and analyze it in order to be able to thwart its effectiveness. A group of British commandos, led by Major John Frost (the same Frost of Arnhem Bridge fame)are airdropped into France. Their mission is to overpower German resistance at the radar station at Bruneval, get the needed equipment if possible, or destroy it if not. They are then to proceed expeditiously to the beach where the Royal Navy is to pick them up and take them back to England. The Germans, however, are not very pleased with this activity and decide to intervene. ----------- Title: A Quick Visit-Bruneval Type: Meeting Engagement Date: February 27, 1942 Location: Bruneval, France Weather: Night, dry Turns: 15 Nice little quick play scenario for the long Labor Day Weekend. Now if you are looking for "The Longest Day" type scenario, you'll be disappointed. If you are looking for "The Shortest Night" scenario, you are in luck. This is a small simple battle in which you take the radar station (converting the flag to British means you got the equipment). You are to then proceed to the beach (exit edge) and withdraw posthaste. It may not be as easy as it sounds Hopefully Madmatt will post it today on the CMHQ site. http://combathq.thegamers.net Have a great Holiday weekend! ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com

  23. For those confused by all of this, let me try to explain. The designer has no absolute control on just exactly where the AI will place reinforcements. About the best he can do is assign a small area with a reinforcement icon. Now how the AI displaces them exactly is beyond the control of the designer. You can't lock in reinforcements as you can units that begin the battle on the map. If the human player is American, more than likely the original reinforcement designation works okay. When the human player is German, however, the AI has the uncanny way of setting itself up to cover that lane of reinforcing and plaster the Germans before they can move. So to compensate for that problem, I moved the reinforcement icon to another spot less obtrusive for the AI as the Americans. Then came the problem with the AI spreading the reinforements out with total disregard to the terrain in which it was placing them. That has since been fixed. So you see, it has been a process whereby the scenario and the game itself has been modified once and again. This happens. Elsdorf is an example. Its all fixed now. Fernando got the earliest copy and not the revision, hence he was pissed. Now he is fine. I am fine. The scenario is fine. Case closed... ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  24. Ah, Madmatt, mad as ever I see. Of course you are a topnotch tester, and yes, you have gone over and through a number of the scenarios I have done...and done a superb job, might I add. And there are others out there, neither Raiders nor Beta testers, who have tested and given reports. Lest I offend anyone who has helped (and there have been a goodly number), accept my thanks and recognition, all of you. I think anyone who frequents this forum will readily admit that no one supports CMBO more than old Madmatt. His website, updates, mods, scenario depot, scenario listings, playtesting and scenario testing all attribute to that. And it is much appreciated. ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
  25. I have a hard enough time answering for my own actions, let alone the AI's Seriously, Warren Peace (I like that!), Charles would be the one to respond to issues with the AI. I honestly can't say. As to your question about the AI exiting units, I have seen them exit in "Fear in the Fog," but they surely don't hightail it to the exits, especially with flags on the map. Of course without flags, the AI units are even more sluggish, I guess because they have no objectives.
