Well, Buckeye, it's because of the faithful work of testers like you that the battles come out as well as they do. Thank you for your help, and to the others who have worked so hard in the playtesting department. And let me say it is one of my all time favorites. King Tigers are a rarity in historical scenarios. You're right, I don't. And I think someone who is a fellow mac-user should help you. Sorry I can't do more...WB ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com

I just checked tonight and the waiting is minimal at CMHQ Scenario Depot either for this one or any other scenario/operation that catches your fancy....WB ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com -
Ratings at Scenario Depot are totally useless
Wild Bill Wilder replied to jpinard's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
I agree with you JPinard. The stars and ratings really mean nothing. I would not use them as a basis for choosing a scenario to play. The system was designed for another series of game and does not work well at all with either SP or CM. But we live with it. Just don't be fooled by it. And thank you VERY much for the kind words about my work. It is much appreciated and a real incentive to try harder. Weeds and Roaches
Wild Bill Wilder replied to Wild Bill Wilder's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Well said, Malmvig! Well said! Keep up the garden and the yard, and keep the house clean. You minimize the weeds and roaches when you do. ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com -
Weeds and Roaches
Wild Bill Wilder replied to Wild Bill Wilder's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
It still comes back to this. Weeds and roaches (not the smoking kind), the negatives in life and on the forum. Ignore 'em and move ahead. You'll never get rid of them...WB ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com -

Meyer's Wrath
Wild Bill Wilder replied to Wild Bill Wilder's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Thanks for the update, Phoenix. Yes, you are becoming quite the warrior. I guess I'm going to have to toughen up these battles. You guys are getting just too good! ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com -
All scenarios and operations should be placed into the scenarios subdirectory. That is the place to put them. You should be able to unzip them, place them into the scenarios subdirectory and then see them on the menu when the game begins. In the editor you are allowed to search through your hard drive (and/or zip disks, floppies even) to find your scenarios should you have them somewhere else. For playing purposes, however, I would place them in the scenarios subdirectory. Better to have them all in one place. As in any conglomerate of people, Iron, you got good guys and bad guys. I guess it all depends on your point of view. There is a residue of caring, knowledgeable people here that enjoy sharing the fun of wargaming...no political agendas, no attitudes, no double-dealing...just fun-loving wargamers. It is what keeps the spirit of the hobby alive and well. My pleasure, my friend. Anytime!

Stuff promised and not in yet
Wild Bill Wilder replied to gatsby's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Everything you have mentioned here and some you haven't (editing rank, # of men, weapons, solitary squads with no platoon leader attached and about 100 more) have already been brought up by members of the beta test team once and again (and again). We are arguing for these changes. We will keep arguing for them. They have not passed unnoticed by the beta testers. We want them too. Just so you know these things are nothing new. ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com -
One of the things I hate most about yard work are the weeds. You never seem to kill 'em all. No matter how careful you are with your grass, weed killer and all, they continue to pop up. And roaches, they seem indestructible. Once you have them, they are there forever. Get rid of 'em in one spot, and they pop up in another! I see no purpose in roaches or weeds. They are an irritation at best. Left alone, they thrive and multiply. They are a nuisance. Weeds and roaches... Whoever thought a web site would have them? ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com

You are very kind Iron One! Thank you. It should be in your mailbox before you even read this. Sorry for the download problems. Anytime I can be of help, please call on me. We share this great common bond of history and wargaming and I'm ready to help when and where I can. Let me know if you get it. ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com

Meyer's Wrath
Wild Bill Wilder replied to Wild Bill Wilder's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Actually Mace, I consider your verbal applause an encouragement, kinda like saying to a hound dog, "Sic' em!" I haven't forgotten, Mace You're like me, something like that irritates the heck out of you. We'll fix that with the next page update coming Monday I hope. Thanks a lot to you and all the others who keep us enthused about what we do... ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com -
What version of the game do you have. Have you downloaded and installed the updates from Battlefront for CM? If the scenario was designed in a later version or saved in a later version, you must have that version installed before you can play it. Now does it say that when you try to unzip it or try to play it? ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com

BETA: Arnhem Bridge - Historical Version
Wild Bill Wilder replied to Pak40's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
None at all, Jeff. Designing operations in CM was one of the hardest things I have yet to do in scenario design. You never really know from battle to battle or from one play of a campaign to the next just exactly what is going to happen. I've heard of this happening to one other person. I never could personally determine just why. Agreed on No Man's Land..another one I learned "the hard way." For urban combat I did the same with "A Second Job." When I get to battle 2, I'll let you know how mine sets up. Should be interesting to compare notes.. Good luck with it. ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com -

Once you start a map you must choose Operation. If not, it becomes a scenario map. They are not interchangeable. It is sad, but true. Not even changing the extensions will work. Whatever you start with, that is what it will be. ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com

BETA: Arnhem Bridge - Historical Version
Wild Bill Wilder replied to Pak40's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
No problem. I really wish you well with it. Like you I was faced with the option of bridge attack or no bridge attack. In the first battle I was able to have attacks from both directions, but after that the AI wanted it either from the south or the north side. You opted for the north side. You are correct. I opted for the bridge fight. Either way, the entire battle with the Operations system as is just can't produce the whole shebang as either you or I wanted. Too bad. I think, however, your approach is a good one. You did a superb job on the bridge itself. That is no easy feat with the editor I intend to play it. I see it is 12 battles! Now that should be some fighting! ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester Scenario Design Team Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
