1. Hi Guys, After a long hiatus from constructing scenarios I am back at work. I have a rough cut of a new campaign ready to test. It's an historical battle from the German Nordwind offensive of December 1944 - January 1945 in northern Alsace. The action takes place in the 44th ID 71st Regiment 2nd Batalions sector northwest of Rimling in open rolling hills. The map is modeld very closely from a topo I got from the French IGN. So much work has gone into this map (max size) that I would also make it availabe to anyone who wants to construct a scenario/campaign. I have also been in touch with veterans of this battle and gotten first hand information. On the German side the engaging units are the 36th VG and 17th SS PG. No briefings are done yet, as I said it's the first cut and as such needs some testing. Anyone care to help test this? 2. Jason, Thanks very much for the feed back. I have recognized that the scenario should have been an operation. Unfortunately after a map is started as a scenario, there is no way to change it to an operation. I have found that the best way to play the scenario is PBEM. I probably will use the map (or part of it) in a future scenario. gp
 3. Yes, my father bombed it in 1944 or 45. His 323rd Bomb Group took heavier losses than were necessary because they planed their bomb run so the did not hit the cathedral. In doing so the bomb run took them over the heaviest concentration of FLAK which were on barges on the Rhine River. I got to visit Kohln and saw the Cathedral, I am glad that it was spared the ravages of war, it is an historical treasure. gp

It helps to be able to read some French when ordering. Two maps and shipping cost me $25 USD. gp

This is one of the highest pucker factor scenarios when played as the Americans! I'll email you with the final results (provided I live through it). God, I wish I had some Arty! gp

It deals with operation "Cobra" and the "Third Herd". Shoot it to me Duke! I'll put it in my test Que with the others. It may take me a week to get back to you with comments. gp

 9. Loki, I played "Once Across the Rhine" as the Allies. Sorry for the delay in posting, I had an unexpected bussiness trip. I achieved an Allied total victory, but took a fair amount casualties. The map is a bit rough and steep in some areas, however it made for excellent game play and pucker factor! The Axis sometimes appeared at very close range unexpectedly. The Axis had a diverse mix of units that would have made for some interesting tactics had I played as the Germans. The 1.1 AI did pretty well IMHO. This scenario would be great as a double blind PBEM/TCP as it appears to be well balanced. I enjoyed playing this one a lot and will play it again as the Axis (on free to place, ofcourse). The only constructive critisism I would give is to smooth the map a little, but then again I am the most critical on maps. Thanks for a great scenario. Well done! gp
 10.
quote:
Originally posted by Loki: David Stone and Groundpounder I downloaded "Tanks in the Street" and will be trying that and "Hell on Horseshoe Hill" soon. Would you guys like feed back here or through mail?

Loki, I would prefer you post feed back on my scenario here so everyone can benefit from my mistakes and learn what to do and not to do when constructing a scenario. Just try not to include spoilers as much as possible. Later today I'll try and post my comments on "Once Across the Rhine", gotta go to work now. Thanks, gp

The one in your CM profile stuff may be wrong? Stoner PS-- somebody, please, tell me how bad "Tanks in the Street" sucks !!

David, I'm half way through "Tanks in the Street". It's playing out real well as the Allies. Good pucker factor. I'm sending you a pic of turn 9. BTW, do realize what the first letter of each word in the title spells? I just realized it when saving the pic! gp
