1. I have a fair bit of trouble when playing the attacker in a "town" battle. Basically, often when I send infantry forward they end up being severely depleted and therefore unable to be used to secure the objective at the end. However, if I go in early with my armor they get picked off by guns and/or other tanks. I realise it isn't meant to be easy, but is there any general advice to be given in the taking of a town? Use more smoke perhaps?
2. Having played around with TRP's for a while now, I am becoming increasingly in awe of their ability to ruin the attacker's day. If you choose the spots well and/or try to channel the attacker's forces to where you want the "hard rain" falling on them, they can be incredible resources indeed. Anyone else a big fan of TRP's?
3. Big caution: I am NOT a techie... I realise that VR helmets never quite took off the way people expected them to a few years ago, but I think that CM would be absolutely amazing given a VR treatment. What would be required for this?
4. and immediacy to them that big engagements don't... You get to love that halftrack or cherish that Sherman or Panzer... Any one else agree?
5. Up until a day ago, my $@#%ing sound card hadn't been working for about 6 months after an install. I FINALLY tracked the problem down to an IRQ setting that was the problem... So I had been playing CM without sound ever since I d/l'd the demo in February. After hearing it with sound, I have to say I now think that the immersion level of a game depends largely on the aural experience. Graphics are great, but actually hearing things makes a game come alive. Hearing the artillery pounding is incredible. Up loud, the 240mm is genuinely terrifying. Just some thoughts.
6. Level: pathetic (working my way up to terrible) Quick Battle on a small map with 500-1000 purchase points is what I'm after.
7.
quote:
Originally posted by guachi: Ahem.. May I humbly suggest my unit database?

Thanks kindly.... great stuff. [This message has been edited by PacifistButLikeWarGames (edited 08-18-2000).]
8. I know I would definitely buy the following: A unit-by-unit guide of all the available units in CM, along with a photo or illustration of the unit in question as well as a screenshot of how they appear in the game. Also, history and uses, as well as other interesting tidbits of information. Who else would be interested?
9. I think a useful addition to area fire would be a counter to set the number of rounds/bursts to be fired. I have often watched my units keep pumping precious rounds into an area that I really only wanted 1 or 2 shots fired at.
10. Actually, thinking about it, it is probably something that would be achievable with current technology. I'd buy a VR helmet for that!
