  1. I think it's quite clear that this will now be possible in the game. Even without the new change, it was still quite effective to put your 60mm mortars on a hedgerow and pummel with direct fire, even at distances less than 250m. Just don't put it on the line by itself because then it will be the only target.
  2. This is a baffling use of mortars IMO. If your mortars are far enough away from the direct threat then the new changes will keep your mortars from firing. However, if your mortars are firing an indirect mission while enemy troops are "at smaller distances", then they are fully justified in firing their weapons. Perhaps you need to put your mortars behind cover if you're going to use them in the indirect roll, otherwise you might as well use them in direct fire mode to eliminate the closest threats.
  3. I vaguely remember reading something about how the Germans couldn't depress the AA guns enough to shoot at the boats crossing the Waal, something that CMBN doesn't model. Or maybe most of them near the river were blocked by the local terrain where the guns were set up.
  4. Really, even fire? Fire is something that's potentially in every battle but boats are used in just a handfull of battles. Besides, you can simulate a river crossing by using the fording tiles. It should work reasonably well for the Wall crossing.
  5. I've had issues saving the correct format of bmp. In GIMP there are options for 24 or 32 bit etc, and there is also an option to include the "color mapping". IIRC, I found that 24 bit and no color mapping were the correct options.
  6. Some old photos of the North Brabant region (Son, Veghel, Eindhoven, etc..) The site is in dutch but if you click on Zoeken link, then either click on Uitgebreid zoeken to search by date and other criteria or click on Zoeken op gemeente to search by local area. http://www.filmenfotobank-nb.nl/
  7. I don't care if the TC is dead or not. A running man in a completely open space will be easily spotted. The gunner is look directly at him for Christ sake! I'm not sure what you're argument is here. In fact, if the gunner didn't spot and fire I'm sure a lot of people would be complaining that the LOS system is broke.
  8. I certainly agree with you Steve but it's just all too often that people post literally days before a major release and expect you guys "fix" something in that time, that's my point. I'm all for improving the game for both bug fixes and feature improvements but it's just not realistic to expect that to happen even within 1 or 2 months before a major release like the CMOMG (not to mention a mere few days before the release).
  9. I don't know about the rest of you guys but I'm sick and tired of people telling BF to "fix" or "add" features when the damn game is already on it's way to the press. You should have voiced your concern months ago.
  10. So this is quite possibly the dumbest attitude towards gun control. Of course more gun control laws would have prevented this or at least lessened the number of dead. The idiot in DC bought his guns legally because of relaxed gun control laws. Had the proper gun laws been enacted to prevent him from buying guns, then the crimes above never would have been committed.
  11. This isn't about modding, it's about displaying information.
  12. Remember when Zip Drives were all the rage? They could hold a whopping 100mb! That format died quicker than hitchhiking possum.
  13. So now it's all 4? Before it was just CMFI and GL. I have both CMBN and CW discs and they have every appearance of a commercially produced DVD. Michael has stated his CMFI and GL look like commercially produced DVDs and BF has commented that to do not use DVD-R.
  14. Steve's definition of 'short time' and my definition of 'short time' are vastly different. F5 F5 F5 F5...
  15. The Market Garden preorder is Mail and download, so it's not a big deal.

  17. Damn, it seems Oddball is right. I just used WayBackMachine to load the May 2011 page for Battlefront.com. Buyers had 3 options back then: 1. Download only - $55 2. Mail only - $55 3. Download and Mail - $65 I guess I didn't remember that because I bought option 3 and always assumed the downloads were included if you got the hardcopy.
  18. Yea, I was really responding to the original poster and the "demo charge" post. So, to sum up: - Steve has already responded that they will NOT have pre-prepped bridges for demolition. - Demo charges on a bridge will not do sufficient damage to blow it up. also, I was hoping they would implement a new type of objective that would "time out" to simulate the bridge being blown. But I suppose one could easily use a 'touch' objective and have the scenario end to simulate the bridge being blow.
  19. It's not planned to be in the Market Garden module; Steve mentioned this a while back. Besides it takes a whole lot of TNT to blow a bridge. I don't think a couple or even a few demo charges are going do much damage. And what damage is done could easily be fixed by engineers.
  20. OK, this is a great way to set AT ambushes in an urban setting where the enemy only attacks with armor. Honestly, when will this ever happen? I mean the enemy must be an idiot to send in only armor into an urban setting.
  21. I wasn't aware of this, please do list sources.
  22. 1 would have been possible but only as a focal point attack, not the broad front strategy that a lot of Generals wanted.
