  1. On a Mac, use CMD-SHIFT-3 On those other things, buy some software, read a manual, screw with it, call tech support, get sick of waiting, and ask your nerdy brother-in-law. ------------------ desert rat wannabe
  2. Developers have handles? I thought you just picked them up by the hair. ------------------ desert rat wannabe
  3. We'll leave your bold ass aside for the moment and get to the point. The King is well and truly flogged as I too am lulling him into a false sense of security at the leading edge of Reiberg. He will be crushed fully. ------------------ desert rat wannabe [This message has been edited by Goanna (edited 02-27-2000).]
  4. It is EXTREMELY important to note here that the only way to join the campaign is to e-mail Fionn Kelly (fionnk@thegamers.net). If anyone talks to a buddy to get their name on the mailing list and doesn't go through Fionn, they will not actually be signed up. When you contact Fionn, he will pass your name to the Axis or Allied CO and you will be assigned a combat Battalion, and perhaps a staff officer role to play as well. As for those GMs, well, evil is as evil does. I'm sure the role of executioner will be enough pay already. ------------------ desert rat wannabe
  5. Reading the review that Steve gave a link to yesterday by an independent gaming site, I think it is pretty much done and they should release as soon as the other logistical items are taken care of (manual, CD copying, etc.) assuming that they are done adding skins. But then again I'm not the project manager and will accept BTS's opinion of when to go (I mean they are Mac users, so they obviously know what they are doing.) I give the beta demo a great review and don't need the improved smoke, translucent buildings, etc. but I do they they are great and add to the immersion. Basically, the thing is going to get a fantastic reception by any measure, and may even be considered revolutionary by the hardcore wargamer. I'm just getting tired of whipping all you chicks in these three scenarios. ------------------ desert rat wannabe
  6. Love to come to your little do, Elvis. You wanna spring for the plane ticket? Then I can get the next 2000 rounds of drinks. ------------------ desert rat wannabe
  7. Please lock immediately Steve. Two days of this was bad enough this week. ------------------ desert rat wannabe
  8. Wow, what a load of cool stuff in the new enhancements section. Thanks Matt. ------------------ desert rat wannabe
  9. Thanks Bakker. Maybe by the time the real game comes out, I will actually be dangerous if I keep reading posts like that one. Bracing for witty retort from previous enemies. ------------------ desert rat wannabe [This message has been edited by Goanna (edited 02-10-2000).]
  10. Babs, I beleive this is called grazing fire and it is already in the final game from info posted by Steve a few weeks ago. So start practicing NOT lining up your units for target practice now. All part of the unlearning some of us will have to do from too much beta-demoing. ------------------ desert rat wannabe
  11. You're just off putting a new barrel on that last M4, I bet. This will only delay your immanent gibbefication. Gibbefy (Jib eh fi)(v): to cause the entrails of a person to dribble out on the floor at their feet. ------------------ desert rat wannabe [This message has been edited by Goanna (edited 02-10-2000).]
  12. OK, you're stupid. I thought it was "in my honest opinion". Cuz, let's face it anybody who uses IMHO can't really be that humble can they if they use the acronyms of the net elite. All these acronyms used to piss me off, because I could never figure out what the hell they mean. If ou think they are bad here, you ought to check out the GM e-mail list. However, after a couple of beers, I have found that I can figure them out by reading the context most of the time. It's really work transferrence, I guess. I take the time to figure out what people who don't have time to write out fully what they mean for them. in turn, they save the time of those fewer keystrokes for whatever else it is they're up to. In the case of some, I think that time is spent coming up with tons of new ones. In fact, if Bullethead puts in any more, I'm gonna have to contact my union rep and see if we can get some pay transferrence to fo along with the work. Disclaimer: no actual research went into using Bullethead in this example, and I am, in fact, an obnoxious Australian with few redeeming qualities. ------------------ desert rat wannabe
  13. By the way AH64D, I was the one who posted the quote you attributed to Berlichingen (sic). Remember, accuracy is important, even in your rants. ------------------ desert rat wannabe
  14. OK, here's a stupid question based on the above list. Whats the difference between the SPW 250/1 or 7 or 8 or 9 or the SPW251/1 halftrack? ------------------ desert rat wannabe
  15. Knaust - Regardless of my performance in CE against you as the Americans (which was my first attempt as such) I have won a majority of my CE games when I play as the Germans. In fact, I have another game going with Berli right now with me as the Germans in CE and he did exactly as you suggest and massed all his tanks near the church to concentrate firepower. I had one StuG stuck in the mud moving into position so I have had to take him on with only two (although the stuck one did serve as a juicy decoy - not my preferred use of Herr Poppe). I am currently down to one Stug and he has one M4 left. I don't think either of us has been particularly lucky or unlucky in the game (but he may have another take on that) He may, in fact, still win this game but I beleive that it is wholly possible that I will win it, even against someone as tactically knowledgable as this former marine. The only definitive thing I can say about the beta demo is that I love the schreck in comparison to the zook. Probably why I typically like to play the Germans. ------------------ desert rat wannabe
  16. I have nothing significant to add that hasn't been comprehensively covered by Steve/Matt/Fionn, so I will simply add my support to their posts. All I can add is that the Mac currently has about 7% market share in the US. Therefore, if 33% of the preorders of CM, BTS would be making a huge mistake by following your advice AH64D. It also shows what a lot of folks in the computer industry know, Mac users piut their money where their mouth is. BTS feel free to pre-charge my credit card for CM2, 3 and 4 right now. I knew this was going to be the best game I ever encountered when I first posted maybe 4 months ago about a problem I thought I had identified and provided my system specs. I got a message back from Steve personally saying that they had IDed the problem already and by the way he used to use the same old crappy Mac clone I do. If anyone at BTS ever wants a place to stay in Oz, I have a spare room. I wouldn't piss on Bill Gates if he was on fire. ------------------ desert rat wannabe
  17. Matt, you forgot to mention the Mapelthorpe art coffee table book you picked up too, since that won't be seen live in Cinci any time soon. ------------------ desert rat wannabe
  18. Peter - please do a search for any words you like such as "release date" or something similar to answer your question as it will provide you with plenty of information plus the reason behind why you are feeling disparaged by the replies above. Also, please be advised that your post in its tone was rather offesive in such as you state that you can't be bothered to come back and find out about items of interest like the rest of us and want to be personally e-mailed after your first visit. In short, eat a sack of ****.
  19. I also nailed the German commander when he tried this tactic against me (which was all the more satisfying since it was Berli). It really depends on how you do your set-up. As the American commander, I would always cover the centre rush as a priority. ------------------ desert rat wannabe
  20. Hiya Craig, you also missed some fantastic tactics information. Search for a post by Panzerleader (not ss_pantyeater, but the real thing), also the tactics post by Wittman yesterday Peng, it's nice to see you found suitable accomodation, but I think it's a bit underhanded to attempt to fleece our beer sodden fellow colonists to the north. ------------------ desert rat wannabe [This message has been edited by Goanna (edited 02-07-2000).]
  21. Madmatt, I have a different problem with the CMHQ site, the makeover which I think is great incidently. I have missed a few days, so I want to look at the last few POTDs but the links don't take me to them. It scrolls down to the day where the POTD was first mentioned, but the POTD (for Saturday say) doesn't show up there. I checked the archives of the POTD and there are only much older ones there. Where's the one by Bil? ------------------ desert rat wannabe
  22. Excellent article. I was already doing most of that based on discussions I picked up from other thtreads, but also learned something. from having it all in one place. Post the website when you have it set up Wittman (me thinks I smell Fionn here somewhere). ------------------ desert rat wannabe
  23. Thanks for the info Fionn. All I can say is (to quote Homer S.) Wahoo! The other system info requirements are covered very well in the intervirew that Bauhaus referenced in another thread today. ------------------ desert rat wannabe
  24. How about this, I will handle all the shipping, signing, etc. through my company here in Oz so that (a) you can have your CD signed copy as a collectors item, and ( me and all the Kiwis get our copy of CM as early as all the yanks. ------------------ desert rat wannabe
  25. Guachi, any chance you could e-mail me that turn for a look? You have me pretty excited what with all the swaing of a building in half PLUS the SMG squad actually getting their fausts out of their pockets. ------------------ desert rat wannabe
