  1. After reading Steve’s recent chastisement, I have read most of your recent posts. I find them humorous, much like those of IgotMilk on the CC3 and CC4 forums. In my life’s travels, I have found that much of what a person “says” is based on the preconceptions of the listener. You have a (deserved) reputation based on your unwarranted jabs at Fion (who I greatly respect). I, therefore, encourage you to continue to stimulate debate, while maintaining the decorum we all want to see on this board. I, for one, do not want to see you banned from this BBS. Thanks for the laughs monkey-man. Rick
  2. I am also a construction manager. In addition, I am also an architect, and have been a facilities director, "program" manager, funds manager, project manager and BBS lurker. That being said, I do not believe that I could even begin to comprehend the massive amounts of specialized energy that must go into computer game design and marketing. But I will go as far as to say that Battlefront.com has brought a unique perspective and strategy to its design and distribution of the game Combat Mission. I wish it, and them, all the best. Rick
  3. Pardon my ignorance, but what are the "cat Eyes," and what do they do?
  4. 38. Started with Panzer Leader at 13, and quickly moved on to Panzer Blitz and Third Reich.
  5. Having played the most disappointing game demo of Y2K (SuddenStrikeOut), and after reading the post of G Ned Anderson (Member) below, I am now convinced that waiting for an excellent game is better than having a good game. Wargames are so rare these days, especially ones with the realistic graphics and game engine that CM sports, that one game with a rich environment and total player immersion is better than 10 games rushed to market. Three cheers for a small company with a big idea! R-Man BTW, Shogun Total War also helps
  6. I'm sure I sounded like an impatient little kid, whining about the long drive to Grandma's house for Christmas. The post didn't deserve a response, as it was more a personal vent than anything. Your cool-headed response showed me what a truely professional bunch you guys are (still). I will continue to wait, impatiently as ever, for the best wargame I have ever played. Thanks also to the other posters who gave me the benefit of the doubt. R-Man Impatient, yes, but still waiting anyway.
  7. OKAY GUYS’ Let’s go! Where’s the game? This endless wait has reached critical proportions. It’s February, for God’s sake, stop tweaking the damn game. R-Man Impatient as Ever
  8. In “Chance Encounter,” playing as the Germans, I laid tons of smoke on the advancing Shermans by my off-board mortars. It worked like a charm, allowing me to attack tanks individually as they appeared. What didn’t work out as expected was the reduction of regular mortar rounds left available to me. I hope that I’m explaining my question clearly; why is the number of regular rounds available reduced by the number of smoke rounds fired? R Man
  9. System: PII 333, LeadTek TNT2 32MB, 192MB RAM. Bugs: (1) blinking at left and top edges of the screen. (2) game freezes when I when I try to quit game (alt-Q, click YES) or abort scenario (alt-A, click YES). It doesn’t freeze when I select NO, or when I save game (alt-S). Other than that, the game runs VERY well. But, the freeze problem is a big pain.
  10. I just want to add one more note to this thread. While playing last night, I saw an American team charge a building containing my regular SMG squad, who just sat there staring in the opposite direction while taking fire. All status indicators were good, so in the next orders phase I had the SMG squad rotate, then target the Americans. Poof, the SMG squad wasted them with no casualties. It seems positioning and direction are VERY important in close-range combat.
