  1. Although, now that I think about it, assuming Hunting Tank Software does make a Mac version, its possible that it could still work in OS-X since I doubt they would use the Classic Rave extensions like CM does. You wouldn't be able to use CMBB to play out the battles yourself (on OS-X) but you could still either autoresolve them or use the Mac system to "Host" various on-going campaigns. All just conjecture at this point of course. Madmatt
  2. In light of some of the recent tone and posts by people here in this forum, I wrote up this little doflicky. I hope you enjoy... We told the world we wanted to do a WWII tactical computer game. They said "Can't be done, how could you out do Squad Leader!?! Computers can't do these types of games" We said we wouldn't use hexes. They said "Impossible! I won't play it, give me my hexes!" We said it would be in 3D. They said, "Bah, it will play like a twitcher game. Get a clue Battlefront!." We said it will use a revolutionary hybrid turn/action movie system. They said, "Whoza jiga wha?!? Can't be done. Who would only want to watch 60 seconds of gameplay?". in the summer of 2000 Combat Mission Beyond Overlord was released and won numerous industry praise and accolades including the Turn Based Strategy Game of the Year Award from PC Gamer. We said we are going to make an Eastern Front game. They said, "Who cares about the Eastern front, just tweak the damn Western Front." We said we were going to improve the movement commands. They said, "You can't improve perfection! I want to Run my SMG squads right into the enemy's foxholes!" We said we had a whole new rarity system in the works. They said, "What?!? I wanna have King Tigers and SMG troops in Finland throughout the whole war!" We said we wanted to make the combat more realistic. They said, "Didn't you hear us? It's fine as is!" We said, we were going to add new commands, like covered arcs. They said, "Why only those? Why can't I have my own pet peeve command?". We said, We were going to add Prep Barrage. They said, "Oh great now the game will be lopsided toward the Russians." We said we were now modeling 7 different levels of optics. They said, "Oh great now the game will be lopsided toward the Germans!" We said we had improved the armor penetration system to be more realistic. They said, "Who is Rexford and why should we thank him?!?". We said we were adding a new feature called the "deathclock". They said, "Why would you ever need to clock death!?!". We said we had improved the entire unit fatigue modeling. They said "Oh come on, you mean my exhausted troops can't close assault for 23 turns in a row anymore?!?". September 20th, 2002 CMBB was released to the gaming public and boasted hundreds of gameplay improvements and new features including vastly improved graphics and sound. It won the PC Gamer 2002 Strategy Turn Based Game of the Year award. We said it was going to be set in North Africa, Crete and Italy. They said, "No, what about early war, the Pacific, or my neighbors backyard???! And desert warfare is boring with no tactical skill necessary." We said that to reduce the game's price CMAK would ship with a smaller manual since the full one would be nearly identical to the existing CMBB manual. They said, "What?!? Your ripping us off, even though you are saving us money!". We said we were implementing dust clouds. They said, "So what...". We said that CMAK would have some multi-turreted units modeled. They said, "If I can't micromanage every single facet of my tanks then I don't care!". We said we weren't going to include Bren's on tripods. You said, umm well okay no one other than Dorosh really cared about that one. On December 3rd, 2003 CMAK was released and even though it was at the end of the year, it still won the PC Gamers Strategy Turn Based Game of the Year award. 3 CM games released to date, dozens of awards including 3 PC Gamer Strategy Turn Based Game of the year awards (2000,2002,2003) plus a Computer Gaming World Wargame of the Year award (2002). Games that have been sold in virtually every single country on Earth. All of it, based upon an unproven game concept and idea and a vision by a virtually unknown, small software company. And now we stand, on the cusp of the next generation of wargaming realism and fun. Those of you who trusted us before were rewarded with games that met or surpassed your expectations. Those of you who doubted us and complained? Well you got the same damn gameplay and still loved it! So, maybe, just maybe WE KNOW WHAT THE HELL WE ARE DOING! Thank you and good night! Oh and if you don't like what I had to say you can help yourself to a warm glass of shut the hell up! Madmatt
  3. Flustered?!? Surely you jest. We couldn't give two craps about most of what was said after the CMSF announcement but we had been holding this gem in our back pockets to announce when the time was right. Guess what, the time was right. Technically it was right about a week ago but finalizing the web layout took a bit longer than anticipated. Come on guys, we're Battlefront, we do things on OUR time tables, not yours. Madmatt [ October 13, 2005, 03:47 PM: Message edited by: Madmatt ]
  4. I thought the pilot was trash. Sterotypical and cliched characters with as about as much depth as Mace on acid. From what I hear, it hasn't gotten much better. But then neither has he... Madmatt
  5. You could always mod the graphics Bil... Besides, little 3D horsies and tanks are CUTE! Madmatt
  6. W000000000000000000000000000000000T!!!!!! Hmmm... can a campaign using Finns be done? </font>
  7. So I take it that when it creats the battle setup, You can play it against the AI or another player? Is that correct? JohnO </font>
  8. Depending on CMC's overall success, a CMAK version could be made. Madmatt
  9. Since your still using CMBB then yes, that issue would still be there but this is the first I have heard of that problem, or maybe its been so long that I had forgotten about it. Can you detail the issue again please? Does it occur in CMAK? Madmatt
  10. Since it still requires CMBB to run as intended its not likely a OS-X version would be made. But that's up to Bruce to decide for sure. Madmatt
  11. Need to clarify here, Its not using the CMBB game engine. Its all new game code but it works WITH CMBB to add the operational command component. When you play out the tactical battles, you are still using CMBB. Madmatt
  12. And this is why I created a FAQ section to the CMC website... Madmatt
  13. Heheheh, yeah... We thought you guys would like this... Madmatt
  14. Said like someone that doesn't remember how bad THAT got as well... Madmatt
  15. Oh hell yeah, I would love to be LINKED with Jennifer Connelly. And Falco, I will say this, you do seem to have a decent sense of humor. Pity it's being wasted so. Madmatt
  16. I would put Ernst Barkmann on a list of all time Tank Aces and better than Wittman... And why? Barkmann survived! Madmatt
  17. Actually, I was thinking of: Lick My Love Pump by Nigel Tufnel of Spinal Tap Madmatt p.s. Big Bottom is good too....
  18. A trick I have as yet not learned... Madmatt
  19. Took all that time to look into a dictionary and yet you still come off uniformed and clueless. And for someone that had to look up "pointless" and "stilted" I find it interesting that you still got the definition for the word "Maybe" wrong. If PBEM wasn't going to be a feature of CMSF we would have said so. We said "maybe", as in maybe it will and maybe it won't. Right now all things being equal it looks like it will but since we aren't 100% sure yet, we have to be honest and say simply "maybe". Of course, you took that "Maybe" comment and you clutched it tight and squeezed it and massaged it until it fit what you WANTED to hear. You want to have a good reason to be upset with us. We didn't provide you with the next CM game of your dreams and your hurt, your ego bruised, your passions ignored by the very same people that you trusted and admired in the past. We didn't listen to you, you who are such a fan of our work, you who KNOWS exactly what we should do and how our next game should be. Damnit why won't we just listen to you!!! It's terrible.. I know.. I believe the medical field has a name for this type of behavior. Psychotic. Need to look that one up too? As to your banning.. Nah, not yet but I have hope for you yet. Madmatt p.s. And here I thought this was going to be a post all about David Bowie... Great song too...
  20. And sounds Steve! Don't forget the sounds! They are hard to make too!!!! Oh forget it..us poor sound engineers, we never get no luvin... Madmatt
  21. I get emails all the time saying the same thing. People install the game, launch it and then get the error that the game won't launch and it lists this error code:(0xc0000135). The fix is simple, you just need to make sure you have the Microsoft .Net Framework installed. We have made this easy for you do as we have shipped the .Net Framework installer along with the game. To install it, simply do this: Go into your Start Menu, then select Program Files>Battlefront>Down In Flames and click on the icon called "Install .Net Framework". That will install the Microsoft .Net Framework software that is required for the game to run. That's it! Madmatt
