  1. OK, okay, OH-KAY!!! Here, an uber-exclussive sneak peak of Charles at work.. Now quit bugging us so we can get back to work! Madmatt [ December 11, 2005, 01:23 PM: Message edited by: Madmatt ]
  2. and since I am on a roll... "A Bridge Too Far" has some good tank action and just another excellent war movie all around... Madmatt
  3. Whoops, don't forget the Sam Peckinpah magnum opus, Cross of Iron. Very good battle scene in a factory with T-34's all over the place... Great movie even thought its not a "tank movie" as such. Madmatt [ December 11, 2005, 08:56 PM: Message edited by: Madmatt ]
  4. Not many, but "The Beast" is a good movie which depicts a fractured (to say the least) Russian T-55 tank crew fighting in Afghanistan. Then of course my favorite war movie of all time: "Kelly's Heroes" has some great tank action, especially the attack on the German train depot. "Saving Private Ryan" also has some very thrilling tank scenes at the climatic final battle. Several of the episodes of Band of Brothers have some very cool armor equipment action. Look for the one one set during Market Garden. If you want something really unique, pick up a copy of "The Winter War". All about Finland vs. Russia and lots of uberFin anti-tank action... Madmatt
  5. Okay, time to lock this one up as its getting far too political. This is a GAME, set in a very confused and chaotic wartime environment. Madmatt
  6. Also, make sure your DIVX codecs are up to date. The demo and game use those to play the intro movie. The safe mode launches the game without the video. You can find those files here: http://www.divxcodecs.com/codecs.html Madmatt

  8. Try and launch the game using the Safe Mode option from the Start Menu\Program Files\Battlefront\T-72 Balkans on Fire! Demo folder. However, that error sounds like perhaps there is something wrong with the download itself. You may want to try and download from one of the other listed mirrors. Madmatt

  10. Great news! Glad it was something simple like that. Now if you can just get that stuck Caps Lock key sorted out everything will be cool! Madmatt
  11. Actually Moon, in this version of the demo the joystick option is enabled by default so it sounds like perhaps he has the older demo. To check, when you launch the demo and the main screen comes up it should say "v1.3 Demo" in the upper left hand corner. If it doesn't, you downloaded an older version. As mentioned above, the reverse joytick option (also enabled by default in this demo) is listed as the second last option in the Realism area of the configuration program. There is a link to the config program located under you Start Menu\Program Files\Battlefront\T-72 Balkans on Fire! Demo\ Configure T-72 Demo. Madmatt Madmatt
  12. The safe mode option was going to be my next suggestion. That launches the demo without the opening video. Sounds like all you would need is to install the latest DIVX video codecs on your system and I bet the regular launch version would work. You can find those files here: http://www.divxcodecs.com/codecs.html Madmatt
  13. That buy now/buy later message only comes up after you exit the demo. For some reason, it seems the demo is automatically exiting prematurely. Does this happen when you launch the game from the desktop shortcut? What about if you try and launch it from the Start Menu link? Madmatt
  14. Good evening everyone. As I mentioned recently in my announcement of the v1.3 game patch, a new updated game demo for T-72 Balkans on Fire! is now available. The demo is 171 megs in size and contains three playable missions. Two training missions with the T-72B and one exciting combat mission where the player commands a T-55A tank. Additionally, the in-game 3D Encyclopedia allows you to explore all the units featured in the full game. This demo is based on the all new v1.3 version of the game and includes all the updated features and fixes from the patch. Download the updated v1.3 demo right here! Madmatt

  16. Dirtydog, first off congrats on a sweet video setup you have there! I can say that T-72 was never tested in a SLI environment but it "shouldn't" make a difference however there are some things to try. First off, while this may seem obvious, make sure the patch was actually properly installed. When you run the game you should see it say v1.3 up in the top left hand corner. Next, make sure DirectX and your Nvidea drivers are all up to date. Also, and I can't stress this enough, DON'T OVERCLOCK. With a system like yours I would imagine it might be a little, and I can't blame you if it is. However, even if you can OC in other games fine, T-72 is rather sensitive to overclocking I have noticed. You may also want to test out some of the other suggestions I made about freezes in this thread from the Tech Support forum: http://www.battlefront.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=50;t=000064 Not all freezes were the same and since your freezes seem to occur whenever you go into the map mode (as opposed to much more random/intermitant freezes the patch addressed) the core issue at play with you may be something else altogether. Madmatt
  17. You are correct, there is no intergral FF support in the game that I am aware of. Madmatt
  18. The waiting is over, the first T-72 patch (v1.3) is now ready for download. The fix list should now be pretty familiar to you all by now but here it is again. --------------------------------- T-72 Balkans on Fire! v1.3 Patch --------------------------------- List of Fixes/changes * Fixed lockups/freezes that some people reported * Added configuration program option to reverse joystick Y Axis for gunner and commander view * Added configuration program option to mute external soldier voices * Improved functionality of 'Dual Mode' * Improved text orientation in Map Mode * Improved playback rate of voice commands * Various corrections in briefing/message text Note: Configuration options for Joystick and external voices are set using the "cfg.bat" program in your T-72 Balkans on Fire program directory. For those that requested an early version of the patch from me in email over the last week, this patch is essentially the same one I sent you but you can install it if you wish. We appreciate all the patience and help in getting this first patch out the door and have lots more cool stuff planned for the future. Grab the v1.3 Patch (2.3 megs) Right Here!!! Madmatt
  19. Sorry, no, work on the network code is not in this first patch.

  21. Quick Update on the patch! Right now, the patch I have looks like it is the one that is going to be released. Here is the current list of issues addressed by it: * Fixed lockups/freezes that some people reported * Added configuration program option to reverse joystick Y Axis for gunner and commander view * Added configuration program option to mute external soldier voices * Improved functionality of 'Dual Mode' * Improved text orientation in map mode * Improved playback rate of commands * Various typo corrections If anyone wants the patch right now, I will email it you just like I have offered all along. The official release is scheduled to be literally any day now though and more than likely before the end of the week... Assuming all goes to plan... Madmatt
  22. I don't think the freeze bug is a *minor fix* Gato, not to the people that encountered it anyway. That was the main reason for this first patch and took a great deal of time and effort to pin down and fix. Also, for the last month and a half I have openly said that if anyone wanted to grab a beta copy of the patch to play with that I would send it to them, so any waiting since I made that announcement was by their/your choice. 23. We have posted 58 new screenshots which clearly show some of the incredible advances the game has undergone recently including all new vehicle textures (winter and summer both) and the use of advanced post processing graphics effects such as High Dynamic Range rendering and full screen glow. Through innovative coding, these exciting effects are even available in DropTeam for those without cutting edge video cards! DropTeam Media Repository (new screenshots are in gallery #1) Madmatt
  24. Hey guys, I have been just checking out a recent internal test build and there is now an option in the configuration panel to reverse the Joystick Axis. This has the effect of allowing you to select how the Y-axis (back and forth motion) works in both commander and gunner views. I am used to flight sims, so i like it so that when i push forward the sight goes down. Some people like it the other way. Now, you can choose whichever is easier for you... Of course, the driver controls are unaffected, pushing forward will accelerate and pulling back slows you down, no matter if Y-axis is reversed or not. Madmatt
