1. Heya Guys, I dont pretend to know too much about this, but I have read an article comparing the 9mm round to a 7.62, which stated that the 9mm actually has more stopping power at short range than the higher powered 7.62mm round, which will tend to pass straight through its target. This 9mm round will often be stopped by the target with them recieving all of the impact and will also leave the projectile in its victim. Something I do know more about though...the MP-40 is a much more controlable weapon than the MP-44. Its slower ROF and smaller cartridge means that you can fire long bursts without loosing control of the weapon, something which isnt possible on the MP-44 and thus you need to fire short bursts. And yes, Im am talking from personal experience there If I had my choice of weapon for a short ranged battle Id take a SMG any day as this is what they are designed for. Dan
2. Heya Guys, Gordon, dont let me forget once we get CMBB done and Ill get you the info Diceman, looking forward to seeing them very much! Thanks for all of the trouble Dan
3. Doh...typo, your right Gordon I have it listed here as mid-'43. A very interesting book on Russian camo is Soviet Camoflague from 1931 to 1935. I have a lot of faith in its accuracy as its a Russian publication, though it has an English translation available. What is very interesting is that it has the origional documents as to how the camoflague was supposed to be applied, which were supposed to be followed to the letter, and when they should be used. Winter camo was far more common that summer as this was left up to the troops, but camo in summer was up to the commander more than the tankers. If you remind me once we finish up CMBB Gordon Ill scan it up for you The bottom line is that it was rarely used, but was used a lot in certain areas (for identification as much as anything) in certain battles. The reason i decided not to use it in CMBB is that it was so rare, as mentioned, but also becuase most vehicles would be used outside of when the camo should be applied to them, if you know what I mean. That doesnt mean Im looking forward to seeing some mods though, they should look great! Dan
4. Probably Flammenwerfer, as the Russians often had different quality and colours of paints which they used. Hehe, it will be hard to get them to all match anyways
5. Looking forward to them guys! Flammenwerfer, your choice there. Put them on in both if you like, as its easy for me to work on them from there. Most Russian vehicles will be in their standard green as they really didnt use camo all that often. In fact, they didnt use it at all after 42. I have a couple of interesting books here just on the subject of Russian camo paint Dan
6. Heya Guys, Just to save confusion, John actually has it back to front In CMBB visually planes wont operate much differently than they do in CMBO, but you will have individual plane types to select from with different load outs. You can even buy a plane just to do a strafing run if you like. As Ive mentioned before we have chosen features that make CMBB a better wargame over eyecandy, but I think most of you guys will agree that this is the right choice Dan [ February 08, 2002, 12:10 AM: Message edited by: KwazyDog ]
7. Yup, Gordon is right there....pretty much anything goes for the Germans Apache, what you need to keep in mind is that in many cases (at least until ambush entered use) vehicle camo was applied by the crews, so it isnt uncommon to see a column of vehicles each painted differently (or some not at all). Hehe, I even have a photos here of a Heter with brown crosses painted over this yellow base. Not sure what the crew were thinking there, but I guess anything is better than nothing Dan
8. Hi spaz, Just to clarify, vehicles will only have one set of textures each for CMBB. There are many variants of vehicles (Pz-IVD, Pz-IVE, etc) and each model will be able have its own texture. This is something that we would like to expand on when we rewite the engine, allowing vehicles to have multiple textures each. Time is prescious for CMBB though, so we are primarily focusing on adding feature that will enchance CM as a wargame over eyecandy. Thats not to say it wont be a visual treat though Dan [ February 07, 2002, 05:43 PM: Message edited by: KwazyDog ]
9. Feldgendarm, horses wont be seen in CMBB but as far as I am aware they arent ruled out in future versions at this point. Dan
10. Actually Tom I think Tiger is referring to the PREVIEW button, though I could be wrong Dan
11. LG, none really since we finish up the MDMP packs to be honest, as I havnt had time to think about them Dan
12. Guys, can I suggest we limit this one to one bump a day. Its getting pretty large and Im sure Tom is working on it as quickly as he can. Dan [ February 04, 2002, 02:24 AM: Message edited by: KwazyDog ]
13. Hi Guys! Sorry for not updating every day, but time is getting the better of me at the moment! Okay, some quick answers for all.... Graaf Spee, I do model and textures, dates arent my department, hehe Mace, its not me you have to convince, its Matt, hehe. If he says yes then I can pass him on the textures. Note the word *if* there, though, as posting 80 odd photos will probably take some time. Flammenwerfer, looking forward to them very much, thanks for the additions! Lord Dragon, yes, please do. We are hoping to get multiple entries for each vehicle so we can have some variation between difference vehicles in a series of models. We'd like to see it very much and besides, there are prizes to be won, hehe. Adam T, looking forward to the entries! Ill will ask Charles about the Tigers for the Hungarians. As they didnt have too many armoured vehicles Id say there is a chance they will make it in! Zitadelle , thanks a heap! These models are ones that I am lacking textures for too, and they will save us a bunch of time as I would have had to make them by hand. Looking forward to them Adam T, thanks for the link but it doesnt seem to be working for me at the moment? Michael, looking forward to it. Thanks for all of your support thus far! Diceman, thanks for the Zis-30, and finger crossed it will arrive Although not made in huge quantities I have read that it was quite useful at the time for the Russians. BH, worst case I can probably make the SU-76i from the Pz-III chassis, so we should be fine there if we dont have a model if Steve has time to colour it up. Thomm, hehe, its been a huge undertaking, I can tell you that much. We have gone into a lot more detail with vehicles varients (for instance we currently have 5 versions of Panthers ) the with the help of these guys we should be able to go quite a way to getting the entire list complete. Thanks again guys for all of the great support, youve really made a difference! Dan [ 01-28-2002: Message edited by: KwazyDog ]

14. Heya Guys Hehe, Im having trouble keeping up with you guys...here are some more answers! Panzerleader, looking forward to the new models! 1/32 is definately better but 1/76 can still be of use to us if that is all is available. The Aufklarer btw is a neat little recon vehicle using the chassis of a Pz-38 and a 20mm turret similar to that you see of most German recon vehicles. Måkjager, thanks for the info, Ill pass it onto Chalres. No promises though as it looks like we are talking about less than 10 vehicles, hehe. Bullethead, thanks for posting the info! Yup, 1/76 will definately be a help as long as they are detailed nicely and the details are visible and clean. If you guys find photos of models you are thinking of getting that you want to run past me first, please feel free! Gordon, looking forward to the BA-6! Hehe, dont worry too much about the colour as it is easily fixable, as you of course know Panzer Leader, make sure you take some shots before you get to the white wash, as we have to get the vehicles in there first before we think about the winter version Also, I can white wash pretty easily in photoshop, if time permits us to do so. If time permits it would be great to see the Sdkfz 10/5 as I have a model complete for that one, but as of yet no textures. Also, we could really do with a nice puma as we have a series of vehicles based on that chassis! Bullethead/Makjager, textures for the Casaba and Nimrod would be great, as they are definately ones we have no textures for The Flakpazer would be great too, though it seems that most served in the west, so this one will be one of the last we do if we make it there. Diceman, thanks again, lokoing forward to your entries! Well we have some textures for most of those you mentioned, but it would be great have a nice texture for the Elefant and the T-34's (as there are so many versions as we dont have enough textures to cover them yet). Panzerwerfer42, thanks, looking forward to them ! Back to work! Dan [ 01-26-2002: Message edited by: KwazyDog ]

15. Seahawk, Ill be using this procedure where possible. For some models we have great textures alreayd, so its not necessary, but I think we will definately need to use this type of process for all of the variants we have out there. Of course, the Russian are stuck with their dark green Dan
16. Hi guys! Some more quick replies... Zitadelle, yes, a bare bones model will still help us out, as it will give us all of the details necessary to help in the building of a texture. What is perfect (other than a complete model of course) is a model that has had the base coat applied and items like the wheels painted black, details coloured, etc, but if time doesnt permit a bare model will be very useful too. as for the latest date of entry...well thats a hard call. At this point the contest will end on the given date, but I could probably take texture 4 weeks or so after and still have them of use to me, as long as I knew they were coming Shep, thanks! Whilst I can promise anything I can tell you that we are trying out best to get as much in there as possible. There should be a lot of vehicles for you guys to play with if all goes to plan! Bullethead, thanks for the continued support, Ill pop into the beta forum and answer your questions there shortly! Ryan, thanks for answering my question, hehe. Let try and keep this thread on the first page guys! Dan PS : I think there is a new screen shot on the contest page for those interested. [ 01-25-2002: Message edited by: KwazyDog ]

17. Hi guys, Some very quick answers..... Firstly, its imaportant that you guys note that the textures I mentioned above are the rarer vehicles. We are still welcoming more textures for all vehicles, and there are still some of the more common ones we dont have textures for like the Hummel, etc. Panzerwerfer42, please feel free to send it in, we'd love to see it. That particular model didnt see action on the Eastern Front but it may be a suitable texture for the later model! Diceman, sounds great! Ill get to your email later today fingers crossed Shep, fingers crossed we will do pretty well but these are going to be hard to find I think, as they are rare models to start with. Fytinghellfish, psst, look up at my last reply Basically there are many reasons why that wouldnt be a good idea, but number one on that list would be that it will give CMBB an unprofession look to those whom arent yet dedicated fans. It would be great if we could add vehicle in after release, but we do have other projects we need to move onto, so unfortuantely that probably wont happen. Dan
18. Not sure, but maybe some guys in the General Forum may know Dan
19. Guys, under desktop utilities try turning off the desktop manager. This should hopefully fix your problems Dan
20. Maastrictian, that has been ruled out as we feel it would look unprofessional. We know that you guys would love this (so would I! ), but new fans and those that arent as as dedicated as you guys would fill our forum with threads asking why we rushed CMBB out and didnt finish it properly. Even worse would be game reviewers saying such things. Dan [ 01-24-2002: Message edited by: KwazyDog ]

21. Hiya Guys! Thanks for the support, it all helps! Just so you guys know, that list has some of the rarer vehicles which we are missing textures for, we still want to keep the entries rolling in for all vehicles as we have multiple varients of all types and Id really like to get a different texture for each. Dalem, just so you know even unpainted models could be a good help to us. 15mm pieces would be a little small though, hehe. Thanks guys! Dan
22. This is certainally something we will be looking into when we get to the rewrite Fieldmarshall, but as time was limited for CMBB we decided to add in features and details which will make far more of an impact on a true wargame than lighting effects given the time required to code them. Dan
23. Hi Guys! First to answer Maces question, here is a rough list of some of the vehicles we are lacking textures for. A portion of these most likely wont make it in unless we do get some textures unfortunately. Russian T-44 T-26 * BT-5 BT-7 * BT-8 BA-6 BA-6M T-60 T-70 SU-12 SU-57 ZIS-30 GAZ-4M ZIS-42 GAZ 64 GAZ 67 German H-39 Hotchkiss PzKw R35 PzKw 35S Flakpanzer 38(t) Aufklärer 38(t) Hungarian Turan I * Turan I (w/armor skirt) Turan II * Turan II (w/armor skirt) Zrinyi * Zrinyi (w/armor skirt) Toldi I Toldi II Toldi III Nimrod Csaba armored car CV35 tankette Romanian R-1 Tankette * Renault R-35 Vanatorul de care R-35 TACAM R-2 TACAM T-60* Malaxa Carrier * (this one will go in anyway, but if we can find a texture it will speed up the process aloowing up time for other models) John, thanks for the support! We are getting some great entries and that has been becuase of the help of you guys Dan
24. Thought Id bring this up in case anyone interested missed it the first time around Dan
