I've always wondered if that was purely a Canadian tradition or if it is done elsewhere as well?

Australia does, and New Zealand as well! It may be a tradition that's shared by the Commonwealth Countries? Regardless, to all those Vets that fought for their respective countries, this day is to remember your sacrifices. Mace
 2.
quote:
Originally posted by Berlin_tingling: Go forth and slap one of these "Oh I wish I were a knight"s. Pore burning coals into his codpiece, spill his entrails on the ground so you may bind him and make him yours

Sounds like fun and a damned fine past time, I'm (fair) game! But that's not the reason I'm here! Some non-cesspoolean has questioned our honour (that we have none is irrelevant, it is still being questioned)! It is time to once again rally and defend our fine traditions. Meeting place is: http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/Forum1/HTML/012496.html act now (oh, and bring a cut lunch)! Mace
 3.
quote:
Originally posted by Spook: It's actually quite straightforward in its formulation. I assume that all here are acquainted with the following function: y = 1 / x x = the number of outstanding issues or unresolved complaints that the grogs will have with a wargame y = the number of NEW issues that grognards will throw in, with the expectation that the wargame can be revised to accomodate these next.

Very good, B+, but it's much more mathematically correct to say that y is inversely proportion to x. Once that is stated, the formula correctly becomes y = c/x where c is a constant which can be determined by studying the relationship between the two variables y and x. The good thing about a constant is that you can give it any title. Any suggestions welcomed (the "B*ll**** factor" comes to mind)!
quote:
OK, this is starting to get boring to many of you, I suppose. You may now proceed to the Peng cesspool thread to watch how some people's "remarkable" wit & ribaldry is eclipsed by their epic inability to get a life.

No I enjoyed it! I look forward to your treatise on Quantum Mechanical interactions between cesspool matter and the causual impact these have on cesspoolean occupants and their ability to process CMBO PBEM turns! Now excuse me, I have a life to get! Mace
 4.
quote:
Originally posted by von shrad: I can't wait for that wail in CM2!

The wail of a Ju87 is fine! However, the wail of an defeated CMBO PBEM opponent is much more enjoyable! Mace
 5. Then again, you could always go out and buy a tank sim like Panzer Elite or Steel Beasts! Mace
 6.
quote:
Originally posted by Seanachai: Sometimes it crawls in here looking for a bit of a lie down.

Damn, is that back door still opened?
 7. Jagdpanther! btw, Waxx, I hope you finished your homework for the night! Mace
 8. 4 posts in one go! Seanachai, are you on some sort of "frequent poster points" scheme? Mace [This message has been edited by Mace (edited 11-08-2000).]
 9.
quote:
Originally posted by Seanachai: The above postings reveal many as lowly Euro-trash musical vandals. Bagpipes. Everything else is just noise.

Bagpipes? Wouldn't you get the same musical enjoyment by stepping on Kitty's tail? Mace
 10. In a locked-down thread not too far away from here, Steve wrote: "P.S. let's not start up any new threads about the election, OK? " Who's been a naughty boy then? Mace
 11. You people have no soul, and less taste! Mace (hiding his Triumph and Loverboy records from view) [This message has been edited by Mace (edited 11-08-2000).]
 12.
quote:
Originally posted by Chupacabra: Would you rather I have brought up Stryper? Or Ratt?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Mace [This message has been edited by Mace (edited 11-08-2000).]
 13.
quote:
Originally posted by MantaRay: Like it or not, this is a facinating part of history for us in the US.

CMBO ---> exciting US Presidential Election ---> boring (especially for us foreigners) CMBO ---> exciting US Pres..... oh, you know the rest! Mace (can we go back to talking about CMBO)? [This message has been edited by Mace (edited 11-08-2000).]
 14.
quote:

The early 80s introduced the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, which rightfully spread across the world and saw the beginnings of some fine HM bands. By mentioning Krokus you've gone and destroyed all my fond memories of this era! *SOB* Curse you Chubbachop! Mace
 15.
quote:
Originally posted by Sabot: ****Dont worry...Im not here to battle. I actual consider you guys our poor, misguided brethren. Perhaps one day, just as east and west germany were united, I hope we too can fight side by side in wargames of the future. Sabot Out...

HEY!! WHO LEFT THE BACK DOOR OPENED?! Some CC5 vagrants have wandered into the house and upset the inhabitants by asking for a handout (of a decent tactical level wargame)! Peterneter New Zealander, since you've been remiss and stirred up the homeless, you can gather them up and kick them out! Otherwise, we can either skitch Kitty on them (go for the throat, Kitty), or we can get Joe Shaw to tell them about his CMBO exploits! Mace [This message has been edited by Mace (edited 11-08-2000).]
 16. I for one will download, play and enjoy (as I always do with the Wild Bill Wilder product). But please note, Wild Bill, your reference to "gentlemen" confused me no end! Mace PS If you ever have room for another Aussie, I'll be quite happy to assist (why I can even help keep Mr Rock in line)
 17.
quote:
Originally posted by Seanachai: Here in the Cesspool, or Peng Challenge Thread, race is unimportant. Religion is unimportant. A person's sex is relatively unimportant, and even nationality of a minor consideration. What is important is that everyone be taunted, abused, insulted, teased, annoyed, and, yes, even tickled, as an individual. It is for your own uttely useless, vulgar, and idiotic selves that I taunt and abuse you all.

Addenda to Seanachai "Idiot's guide to CMBO PBEM opponent taunting": Race is unimportant. Religion is unimportant. A person's sex is relatively unimportant, and even nationality or sexual preference(s) of a minor consideration (seanachai, tsk, tsk - you forgot sexual pervisity/preferences). But all can be utilised in taunting, abusing, insulting, teasing, annoying, and, yes, even tickling (possibly classified under sexual preference?), an individual.
quote:
I value only your little selves, my children.

The very thought of us springing from Seanachai's loins through the wonder of childbirth has put me right off my Lunch..... as well as my Dinner and Breakfast for at least 'til the next decade! Mace
 18. We all know why! You have to have some intelligence to appreciate and enjoy the brilliance that is CMBO. I'm surprised that some of the frequent "grognard" writers to PCGAMER have the nonce to put a sentence together! Mace
 19.
quote:
Originally posted by Seanachai: Stop That! I went over to that horrible place because Peng asked me to, and I didn't understand what was going on; I thought he'd sent me over to a CMers BBS. Do not go taunt the CC people, it does not promote wargaming brotherhood. Worse, they start coming over here. Now, there's plenty of people to insult right here at home.

What's the difference between being insulted by a CMer and CC5er? Absolutely Nothing! Let them come, let them insult, we'll just treat the poster with the same level of distaste and contempt that we reserve for our fellow CMers anyhow! Mace btw, I agree with Seanachai....terrible, terrible place!
 20.
quote:
Originally posted by Kingfish: There's the solution, we all need to buy the same CPU that Steve and Charles are using. Problem solved.

Or perhaps release a special edition of the TCP/IP patch. Costs $1000, but includes a computer built to a common CPU standard! However, BTS has once again shown that customer relations is well supported by providing us with this latest update! Keep up the excellent work guys (*Sigh*, yes even you, Madmatt). Mace
 21.
quote:
Originally posted by Speedy: P.S.- Mace, are you saying you actually used to work for Jeff? P.P.S.- Going to the GeeGees' on Tuesday? Might see you there.

Hey, another Aussie (South Australian no less, but I wont hold that against you)!? In answer to your first question: No, I'm a public servant, I don't work for a living! But Jeff did employ me, yes! second question: I doubt it! First, I have numerous CMBO PBEM turns to process. Second, I have a wife who likes handing out chores (that dont get done, refer First reason), and third, IMHO a horse is something you put hay in one end, and extract Sh*t from the other. Occassionaly, the horse likes to run around an oval because it's otherwise bored sh*tless by a meaningless existance (much like our wonderful Seanachai), dreaming of a life it could of had if it was given hands rather than hoofs, and the intelligence to process a decent CMBO PBEM turn! Mace [This message has been edited by Mace (edited 11-05-2000).]
 22.
quote:
Originally posted by Elijah Meeks: I feel invigorated! Come on people, we need to expand our beachhead and post, post, post in the Peng Thread on the CC5 forum. Quickly, people, or the opportunity will be lost. Now, my glorious Pengers, we stand on the verge of defeating the CC5 forum, our ancient oppressors. Download the demo, man the Thread and remember, the girls at home are watching! We cannot be defeated! We cannot be defeated! http://www.clubssi.com/ubb/Forum23/HTML/000843.html

Sorry! I have seen an alternative universe, and it scares the bejeebers out of me! Diferent colors, backwards technology (no quote button) and challenges to multiplay CC5! The horror!!! I cannot play CC5! It interferes with my CMBO PBEM time!!!!!! please! PLEASE! I deplore you! Don't make me go back again! Let me stay here in the peace and tranquility of the cesspool! Hell No! We wont go! Mace
 23.
quote:
Originally posted by PeterNZer: The second thing is http://www.clubssi.com/ubb/Forum23/HTML/000843.html Here is a link to the mostly holy First Inaugral Peng Excursion Yonder (FIPEY).

Of course, I would have titled it Peng, I am taking our challenge Global But then again, Petey, unfortunately for you you are a Kiwi, and you're not me (but hey, you have to make do with what little you've got)! Now bask in my glory and brilliance before you depart*. Mace *I'd like to take the opportunity to thank Madmatt for his lessons on humility!
 24.
quote:
Originally posted by Stuka: Damn straight he needs help! First he gets all cranky after I distance myself from his particular flavour of sex-ewe-l partner, then he calls me a *Victorian*. [checks Maces profile] Good God!, A bloody Canberran public servant! Kill the heretic, persecute him and run him out of the 'pool I say! Our nation's political capital and this, this ****** works for them (and I use the term 'work' in its broadest possible sense).

Geez I can live with having my "hobbies" advertised for one and all to see, but insinuating that I work for Johnny!!!! You're an insulting mongrel, Stuka Chuba-chops! I'm a Victorian, and am employed by the State Government there (saying that I work would be stretching the truth though)!
quote:
I bet its all Maces fault the noble Aussie $ is worth less than 2/5 of f***all.

Sorry, You can't pin that on me! I realise that the low Aussie dollar does make it difficult for those who import from the USA. It makes it more difficult for Stuke as Hamsters aren't indigenous to Australia, and he must import then from elsewhere, driving up his expenses and making him surly (say, how many Hamster's do you go through in a day btw Stuke)! Just be thankful the gaffer tape is locally produced!!!
quote:
Check my profile public service yes-boy, see how it says 'Queenslander'?

I feel for you, it must be dreadful living with a disability!
quote:
My dance card is rather full at the moment you *southerner*, however my benevolent nature is inclined to pencil you in for a healthy slice of humble pie as soon as I can be bothered. (Give me 2 weeks)

Look forward to it! (not realy, I just don't want to upset you, and we know how easily upset Queenslanders can get! We dont want the cesspool level to rise any higher from the incessant crying). Mace [This message has been edited by Mace (edited 11-04-2000).]
 25. In Australia, with postage, CMBO is a tad more expensive than an off-the-shelf computer game. But as CMBO is about 100 times more enjoyable and entertaining. It is money well spent!!!!!! I'm definitely going to buy the rest of the series, regardless of cost! Mace
