  1. Crowbar is optional. Use the batch file from the T8 pack, and overwrite any previous version of the batch. I keep updating the batch file to do all the Bergman mods at once. I thought the readme covered this, but I'll check it again tonight.
  2. To kill autoplay: Right click on MY COMPUTER choose PROPERTIES Click DEVICE MANAGER tab Click on CDROM in the tree Click on your CD drive entry Click on PROPERTIES Click SETTINGS tab Untick AUTO INSERT NOTIFICATION OK several times... Allow it to reboot.
  3. I can only find 1 photo of one of these vehicles that DOESN'T have the MG fitted. (an M3A3 reccce serving as an ammo carrier).
  4. You'll find emulators here: http://www.vg-network.com/emulist.phtml?emuarchive=c64emus
  5. I still play these regularly: Elite (Amstrad) Laser Squad (Amstrad) XCOM 1 Steel Panthers Civ 2 MOO 2 Stars! (pbem daily) ***Transport Tycoon Deluxe*** Why has nobody else mentioned this wonderful classic?
  6. I AM working on a Stuart V / M5A1 / M8 HMC mod. Due to some problems, plus work pressure, this pack will be at least another week. That's why I released this small pack now, instead of together with the Stuart as originally planed. Then it's HVSS Shermans, Sherman II, M8/M20 in that order. ( Except if I get bored I will thrrow a Jeep in there somewhere.)
  7. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Big Time Software: I also have an overhead picture of an M3A1. So this is our documentary evidence... I can assure you folks that only a half squad (team) can fit into the "command" type HTs. First of all... what the picture above does not show is the seats. The MxA1 HTs only had 6 seats on back. That right there is a pretty good indication that it was not designed for a full squad <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> This is interesting. It didn't seem quite right to me, so I did a search through my library. I found one 5-view painting which clearly shows the above configuration of 6 seats.(Tanks of WWII, Chris Ellis, Octopus) It is listed in the text as a HQ company vehicle, and the vehicle has HQ-23 on the bumpers. There appears to be a radio behind the driver. Confusingly, the text right next to the picture says: "...a personnel carrier with seats for 10 men (a rifle squad) in the rear and room for 3 in the cab." However, I also found 6 different written references to the troop capacity of the M3A1 being 10+3; I found a 4-view painting which shows pulpit MG plus 10 seats in rear. ( Tanks & Fighting Vehicles, by Chris Foss, Salamander) This painting is an excellent match for my Hasegawa M3A1, by the way... From Airfix Magazine v12 #11 July 1971: American Half Tracks (part 2) by Peter Chamberlain "Half track Personnel Carrier M5A1 This vehicle corresponded to the Half Track Personnel Carrier M3A1, with seats for 13. It had a M49 ring mount and three fixed pintle sockets" and in the description for the M3A2: "Crews ranged from 5 to 12 men, depending on the amount of stowage carried and the tactical purpose intended." Although the second quote is not for the correct model, it highlights what all of the reference books seem to imply; that command, ammo carrying, MG etc versions had quite different interior stowage.( one book stated that the MG carrier lost 2 seats to ammo storage space.) I hate to assume all those references are just wrong, so it would seem to me that the normal troop carrying M3A1 did actually carry 10+3 men, while the command version(with radio) carried 6+3. Unless the game differentiates between these two, it's a toss up which way you take it. After all, with 12,499 M3s compared to 2,862 M3A1s, it may well be legitimate to assume that all A1s in the game will represent command variants.
  8. Obviously my email didn't get through. Please supply. The mob are unruly, and time is short...
  9. The shared component was the central superstructure (fighting compartment). Stug IV had standard PZIV hull, including engine deck and hull front. Because of differences in driver position between the two hulls, the driver's compartment on the Stug IV was extended forwards quite noticeably. Guess this was a model where BTS ran out of time...
  10. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Formerly Babra: This is the only thread I have encountered this in. What information are you after, Old Dog, and why not just ask? <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> This is the text of the cookie: .homestead.com TRUE / FALSE 1124718360 phsViewerID 203.96.111.202.971505566.6736 This is planted by the site, NOT by Old Dog, and appears to mainly be the picture URL. I suggest you address your concerns to Homestead.com.
  11. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by PawBroon: Holly Cow!! Will you marry me? <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Sorry, but I've taken a vow of celibacy in order to devote myself to my art. -------------------------------------------- Look for a T8/Kangaroo release around next weekend. M5/Stuart/M8 depends on whether the texture problem is covered in the upcomming patch, or whether I have to work around it; 2 weeks max either way, I hope. I really think you should wait, but anyone who just can't live without it NOW could try asking Old Dog really nicely by email. But note: 1) It is a prerelease, so no docs and no help. I'm busy. 2) It currently makes a damned awful mess of the British Stuart. Live with it or wait for the full release. 3) M8 turret is not yet complete, but fully useable. 4) I'd prefer you waited.
  12. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Colonel_Deadmarsh: Just out of curiosity though, did tanks have the lady pics drawn on them like the nose art of the WWII bombers? <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Some did, most didn't. Have seen pictures of several, though. But don't worry, the lady will be an optional texture.
  13. Tiger did a mod of this. You'll find the URL in this thread: http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/Forum1/HTML/012818.html
  14. So those who are able to use the high-res grass sets can chance it at will.
  15. Ummm... Maybe I shouldn't tell you this, but my P400, 128 Mb ram, 8Mb TNT Vanta runs everything I've tried quite acceptably with every high-res vehicle I can make or find, and Low-res grass. "Walk in Paris" is a little jerky on rotation, but perfectly playable.
  16. If you look at the track on those US halftracks (real ones), the rubber-band track looks more like a tire tread than a tank tread anyway. And while we're talking fixes, how about a fix for all those vehicles whose mantlet-bottom texture is displayed at a far greater brightness than the mantlet-top? Stuart and Jadgpanther come instantly to mind...
  17. PawBroon, Obviously my readme is clearer to me than to anyone else You will end up with 2 UK icons. The one called "UK CAMO" swaps in the camouflaged textures. The one called "UK" swaps in the uncamouflaged textures from the original Firefly pack. So, when you install the option pack you have to make a NEW icon & batch, using the batch called UK_CAMO_textures.bat. Now I must apologise, because I included the wrong icon. I will update the readme file to be more explicit, and send that and the correct icon to Mr Kump to insert into the files. Pawbroon, I'll email them to you directly. Anyone else who is having a problem with this, email me direct at lamnei@xtra.co.nz
  18. Golly. Reading Rob's posts is like trying to do a cryptic crossword.
  19. Any low-res vehicle or building should have no effect whatsoever, since they are the same size as what the game is currently using. It is possible that you could get some speed increase by making some low-low res files; resizing the terrain tiles shouldn't look too bad. Do you want me to quickly resize a grass set for you to try?
  20. The tractor is a Russian STZ-3 Komsomolets, probably captured in the initial Russian invasion. Introduced 1937 Weight 4T Max speed 25 mph Later replaced by turretless T60s & T70s and halftracks. The thirsty tank appears to be a Pz-II.
  21. When I finish this tricky M5A1/Stuart V that's currently driving me nuts, HVSS needs finishing and then it will be Sherman II/M4A1. Be about a month away.
  22. Yeah, I use one of those at work. Is a nice monitor. I find it almost too big to seen without moving my eyes, but the picture quality is fine. Screen is more curved than a Sony, but not objectionally so by any means. However you need a jolly big desk to hold the thing.
  23. Actually, the turret front & mantlet textures are so small they can be used without detriment on low-res packs as well.
  24. Chasd, you do Tiger a dishonor and complement me by mistake. I've done 6 mods. Tiger's done about 600.
