  1. I beta-tested CMBB on a P2 400, 256MB ram, 8MB TNT Vanta. Bear in mind that the beta code was about 25% slower due to debub code. Graphics were downsampled (to about 800x600 equivilant, from 1024x768), and turn generation for games over about 2000 pts was real slow; otherwise it coped fine, if you don't mind jerky rotation,(horizon 1000m, trees moderate, doodads off, ambient sounds off) Changing my video card to a GeForce 2 MX400 64 MB tripled the frame rate without any downsampling (horizon max, trees extreme, doodads extreme, ambient sounds off.) 2000 pt limit unchanged.
  2. Jon, if you want a look, please contact me and I will do something for you.
  3. 4014 is the interior turret side for M10, M36 & Achilles, plus who knows what other shared vehicles. The BTS one fitted well enough, so I let it as is. 4001 is the interior front & rear turret face of M10, M36 & Achilles, but ALSO the outside lower Turret front face of the Achilles, which is why I changed it to a compromise appearance texture.
  4. The missing texture is 4001. I've uploaded it to the ftp page here: ftp://ftp.combatmission.com/gordon/AlliedVehicles/4001.zip This link has been tested, and works. I won't update the main files until this weekend, because they take a while to upload.
  5. If there is anybody in Wellington who is keen for a preview, please contact me and I'll try to make some time free to arrange something. (Although I only have 1 PC.)
  6. M10/M36/Achilles in final testing; I changed my mind and included a full US set after all. I need to do 3 M36 turret-side variants and a readme, and it'll be finished. Hope to submit this to Madmatt on Sunday. Although I firmly intend to do more CMBO textures, my workload prevents me from doing any for a while.
  7. The UK/Canadian/Polish Wolverine should be ready around next weekend. That set contains Uk 11th Arm. Div & VIIIth Corps, Can. 1st Hussars & S.Alberta, Poles plus olive-drab UK versions for compatibility, plus some US M10 & M36 Textures for full US compatibility, all in a CMMOS3.02 package. This will NOT be a full set of US/FF textures. That, plus the Achilles, will follow as work allows (which isn't much just now.) However there will be enough US textures to ensure that you can choose a US M10/M36 without colour mismatch problems. That'll tide everyone over until I can finish everything. Thankyou Marcel for your excellent website and kind previews.
  8. On a 56K modem from the far end of the Earth, incomming page definately loads faster. Biggest holdup now is the animation on the title page; normally I wait for the buttons to appear and click on, bypassing it entirely. ( animation takes up to a minute to load, usually.)
  9. This is a "feature" of the M20 model. The wheel pops up at certain viewing angles. Also a "feature" is the fact that the left side of the gun barrel is stretched and blurred. There's nothing wrong with your machine, and also nothing we can do about it.
  10. If you want to leave autorun on, you can bypass it when inserting the CM CD by holding down SHIFT ( and continuing to hold it down until the cd light stops blinking, normally a couple of seconds.)
  11. This is an excellent mod, so make sure you all get it.
  12. I think I might have used this once or twice.
  13. The answer to that is: Yes, but only when I finish revising the Firefly / Sherman IIa. That's what he's waiting for.
  14. <blockquote>quote:</font><hr>Originally posted by MikeyD: Not to be unkind, but wrong rear engine deck.<hr></blockquote> According to "British and American Tanks of World War II" by Chamberlain & Ellis, p140-141, Achilles Ic was based on a M10, and Achilles IIc on a M10A1. Mod shown depicts Achilles IIc as per above information. ( I do have M10 engine deck too, by the way.) Can you provide any definiite information that the reference above is incorrect?
  15. All my batch files and icons are now redundant. Fernando's are very nearly so. But if you aren't using them anyway, they can all be safely deleted.
  16. M10 / M36 / Achilles has passed mod-base complete status, now undergoing detailing and nationality options. If you ask PawBroon nicely he might post a picture for me. Firefly and Sherman II/IIA on hold because I'm sick of Shermans. Chaffee in preliminary stage.
  17. Considering that PawBroon is not a native English speaker, I think he does bloody well. So why pick on him? Especially when in your first post you misspell triangle... You will find the two carrier mods here: PawBroon's Carrier mod: PawBroon's Carrier Feldgrau's Carrier mod (CMMOS 3) Feldgrau's Carrier Note that PawBroon's mod isn't CMMOS compliant, so you have to make sure that nothing else with those numbers exists in your bmp directory. Otherwise every time you use CMMOS, it will overwrite some or all of the textures. This is what I think is happening to you now. I strongly recommend that you install CMMOS 3. It works just the same, but has lots of extra features if you want to use them. But it is needed for most of the more recent mods, which won't work properly without it. There just isn't any good reason for staying with v2 at all. If you use Feldgrau's carrier, you can turn off the aerial recog. panels in the options in CMMOS. OK, now that the carriers are out of the way, please post a picture of the Sherman problem. I suspect that you are using one of mine, but I'd like to see. Once I know what you're using, I'll be able to solve this. If necessary and if you're nice I'll send you plain-front versions. [ 01-10-2002: Message edited by: Marco Bergman ]</p>
  18. When I was in the Sea Cadets as a lad, we were issued with Marlin Spikes. Just like your knife, but no blade, only the spike. We sometimes used the marlin spike for piercing canvas, but mostly while splicing rope. You use it to help seperate the rope strands when interleaving them, and also to push the end of the strand through the gap. Also of use when trying to undo knots that have been under strain. There's even a knot called a Marlin Spike Hitch which you quickly use to tie the rope around your knife so you can use it as a handle to give some purchase when pulling it tight, but is instantly removable afterwards.
  19. The pictures show Sdkfz251 with schwerer Wurfrahmen 40. The rockets are 28/32cm Nebelwerfer 41. These were unguided rockets sort of similar to 15cm Nebelwerfer, except that the caliber was either 28 or 32cm. Launcher could also take 30cm field rockets. The packing crates of the rockets also formed the launcher. They could also be fired from the ground, with the simple adjustable legs on each crate being used to approximatly set elevation. Rocket Weight: (28cm) 82 kg, (32cm) 79kg Range: (28cm) 1925m, (32cm) 2200 [ 01-09-2002: Message edited by: Marco Bergman ]</p>
  20. Included on the page is the recommended-for-Mac version of my Sherman I/III/V mod, Bergman_si_siii_sv_lite.zip (6.91MB) which is suitable for cherry-picking for MAc users, since it contains a Sherman I 3pc, a Sherman I cast, A Sherman III 56deg, a Sherman III 47deg, a Sherman III with track-armour and a Sherman V, plus aerial recog. panels and bloc textures, with full instructions for what texture goes with what. This mod has been put together in such a way that it is also CMMOS compatible, for those who only want to swap nationalities without having to download 24MB of files.
  21. <blockquote>quote:</font><hr>Originally posted by Michael Dorosh: ACK - aren't the turret marking colours on the SAR vehicle supposed to be white? <hr></blockquote> Well in both the supplied defaults and the ruleset, they are, so there. I threw these pictures together late last night using CMMOS to quick-swap everything in sight to make pretty pictures, and not being a Canadian ultra-grog put in an invalid combination. A quick re-read of my initial post indicates that I will be redoing Firefly/ Sherman II next. After that, M10 & Chaffee.
  22. My revised Commonwealth Sherman HR Summer CMMOS pack is ready, uploaded, and awaiting CMHQ's posting pleasure. Containing 168 textures, This mod includes the following units: UK 11th Armoured Division UK 4th Armoured Brigade Canadian 1st Hussars Canadian South Alberta Regiment Polish 1 Dywizja Pancerna and the following vehicles: Sherman I with 3 piece nose and vision blocks Sherman I with cast nose Sherman III with 56° glacis Sherman III with 47° glacis Sherman V Sherman I with 3 piece nose and vision blocks http://home.earthlink.net/~gordonemolek/si_2.jpg http://home.earthlink.net/~gordonemolek/si_3.jpg http://home.earthlink.net/~gordonemolek/si_4.jpg Sherman III with 47° glacis Sherman III with 56° glacis http://home.earthlink.net/~gordonemolek/siii_3.jpg http://home.earthlink.net/~gordonemolek/siii_4.jpg http://home.earthlink.net/~gordonemolek/siii_5.jpg http://home.earthlink.net/~gordonemolek/siii_6.jpg Sherman V All with the appropriate engine decks, hull details, etc. If you ever wondered just how these models of Sherman differed, this mod will show you. This mod uses CMMOS 3.0, (which is also awaiting CMHQ's posting pleassure) and is designed to fully support the fancy new features thereof: 1) You can now set 'favorite' texture sets for each or the 5 nationalities. These will be remembered, and automatically loaded when the appropriate icon is selected. 2) on-demand convert-to-low-res available, for those large battles. Due to file size, this monster has been split into 3 pieces: Bergman_si_siii_sv_rulesets.zip (985K) The instructions and rulesets bergman_si_siii_sv.zip (13881K) The main textures bergman_si_siii_sv_bloc.zip (10125K) The rubber bloc textures The rubber bloc textures are optional. Also some extra track textures: Bergman_Allied_Tracks_CMMOS.zip (142K) Now I'm off to bring the Firefly ans Sherman IIs up to this standard. Edit: A Mac friendly version and low-res versions will be posted in the next day or two. Michael Dorosh has the mod-base version. Thanks to Gordon for hosting my pictures [ 12-10-2001: Message edited by: Marco Bergman ]</p>
  23. Thanks, John and Warphead. Looks like I'll give Fleischer a miss and try to find some of John's recommendations.
  24. I am thinking of purchasing a good reference book on Russian tanks, suitable for mod work. Does anyone have this one: Russian Tanks and Armored Vehicles 1917-1945 (Wolfgang Fleischer) since I'd like some more info on it before paying that much money. Specifically, does it have nice detailed shots of all those interesting twiddly bits? Any information or alternate suggestions would be appreciated.
