1. I have nearly finished converting the mod, but I'd like to know whether there's any demand for it. This is a fact-finding exercise to determine the sorts of packs I need to make in future. I'd like to ensure that everyone is covered, but don't want to release versions nobody ever uses.
2. The mod files ARE OK. You're getting the track texture mapped across the hull side, which if I remember rightly someone here said was what happened when the Mac's graphics memory got overloaded. You are talking a substancial increase in file sizes with the HR plainpack. Looking at the resolution of the screendump, I'd say that maybe the LR plainpack would solve your problems without too much image degradation. I'll try to finish that tonight and will send you a copy.
3. Wait until next Wednesday or Thursday, then download my Full US Sherman mod, which will update your current US M4A3s, add many more US Shermans, plus snow covered versions, and be fully batch compliant.
4. If you insist on using the Plainpack with my batch stuff (NOT its' intended use...) you'll have to copy several files with a _us suffix: 3006 3007 3008 3009 3010 3011 3012 3013 3014 3017 3018 3019 3330 3331 3332 3333 3334 3335 3336 If you insist on doing this, you're on your own. The full pack should go out for testing tonight, which means a mid week release. Batch users, please wait for this.
5. If I painted a few more layers of base colour on, would that help?
6. Hi Michael, I'm glad to see you have the courage to do your own versions. They don't look too bad. Your headlight style is interesting, but I went to the more splayed look because it gave a wider viewing angle before losing credibility. The stripe on the cast nose by the maple sign is caused by the texture not being mapped exactly aligned, but offset to one side.(the game does this quite frequently). If you copy that area and move it out 10 or so pixels that will solve that effect. Please don't mind Maximess. Someone forgot to put on his muzzle. By the way, Max, There's a "G" in my name. It's "Bergman". I note that you have a site with just Canadian mods. I will be redoing the Commonwealth Shermans in a couple of weeks, and would be quite happy to compile a batch-free Canadian set if you would like one. Or if you want to use my textures I'll happily send them without unit markings. Up to you. Either way, I'll be needing to confer with you at some stage to try to ensure that I have got the Canadian markings correct. Keep up the good work, and if there is anything I can do to help please feel free to ask.
7. I always start nowadays with the BTS originals, then using them as a guide redraw most of the details by hand. Where I feel there is an error on the originals, or if I am drawing a different variant, I paint it in over the top. I refer closely to the pictures in my reference books for details (used 13 for the Shermans), but everything is fully hand drawn.
8. Instead of playing with it I had been forwarding it for the best part of my evening here in Paris... PawBroon, I would like to give you a public Thank You for you voluntary distribution of my mod. I am absolutely astounded by the volume of emailing you have reported. Regarding my schedule, this changes quite frequently. If someone comes out with a nice mod, I drop it down my list. If lots of people ask, up it goes... plus my own whims sometimes come into play. Old Dog thinks he'll be receiving a Stuart to test, and Hey Presto!, it's a T8... Thinks it's a HVSS Sherman, and Zap!, it's a Sherman II, no, it's a snow covered M4A3... I suspect I'm becomming notorious for this. And sometimes I change it just to annoy Maximus. So I'm afraid my schedule is an indication only, and not set in stone. You really can't tell until the next official preview by Old Dog, with a picture. ( Greyhound: +1 vote... )
9. Actually I mean the winterized version of the gas tank on the Crocodile Well I'm sorry, but the Crocodile trailer won't be happening until the Churchill mod. And that will be a while: Schedule: 1) Clean up UK Shermans to match US ones.(mostly done) 2) Cromwell, Challenger, Comet 3) Chaffee 4) Churchill, AVRE, Crocodile Since all my modding is done entirely by hand, it is SLOW, so don't hold your breath.
10. Maybe it's just me, but I get no pictures, and choosing view image gives me: >Forbidden >You do not have permission to access >http://schulzs.50megs.com/Wntrm182.jpg >Data files must be stored on the same site >they are linked from.
11. Tiger makes very fine mods, and I encourage people to use whatever mod they prefer the look of. My work on the plainpack is now complete, bar any last minute emergencies, and release is now in the hands of Old Dog, who is doing the preview pictures and Mod Manager stuff. The official Old Dog announcement and release will be before the weekend. The full pack ought to be out early next week.
12. 4th New Zealand Armoured Brigade in Italy by Jeffery Plowman shows in a pretty diagram that the HQ Squadron Reconnaissance Troop had 3 Stuart Vs and 8 Stuart Recces. If you are interested in the Italian Front, I strongly recommend this great little book. It is available by post. Here are the details: >The book retails for $25 plus $2 postage and >packing, please make out the > cheque to Jeffrey Plowman. The money can be sent to: > > 33 Colman Avenue > Upper Riccarton > Christchurch > > Thanks > > Jeff Plowman I have also seen the book at Modelcrafts and Hobbies in Lower Hutt for $29. Nice to see that there are several other New Zealanders here.
13. Gonna be a long walk to New Zealand fer ya then. Although this mod got bogged down in snow, expect a release before next weekend. That's all US Shemans plus snow; HR, HR plainpack, LR plainpack.
14. Actually, that's the texture it has had right from the start. Nobody knows why.
15. As soon as the current long-running all-US-Shermans-mod is complete, this winter mod will be expanded to an all-US-Shermans-winter-mod.
16. Sorry, but I can't agree with this. The Uk fielded 90 Priests in time for Alamein, and they were painted overall sand. I'm looking at a picture of a 11th Reg. RHA 1st Arm. Div. Priest right now. Overall sand, black oval with white rhino on pulpit-side front mudguard, 77 in red over blue square other mudguard. Sexton didn't make it to the Desert. And shouldn't the LRDG jeeps be sand too? With windscreen removed, most of the grill bars removed, and a condenser can and hose?
17. LGMB, could you please explain to me why the snow only falls onto Allied vehicles?
18. I must apologise for not making myself clearer. Plainpack = no options, no batches for BOTH Mac and PC. ( Otherwise I'd have called it a MacPack...) Plainpacks will always be fully PC Mod Manager compliant too. I hope this clears up the issue.
19. M. Bates, Right after this lot is finished, I will put together an every-single-Sherman Plainpack for Mac users, which will be a guaranteed single install. For Stuarts, get the Stuart Plainpack, which is the same thing for the Stuart. ( Also PC users who don't want any optional textures or batch files should get the plainpack.) Mac users (and non-batch users) are perhaps best advised to steer clear of Gordon's Camo mods until we can check whether these addon mods will make sushi of a Mac setup, as M. Bates has unfortunatly found out. The only way to restore this, M. Bates, is to reinstall the Bergman mods. Thank you for pointing this out. We will have a look, and at least ammend Gordon's docs if nothing else to warn Mac users. I will have a talk with Gordon and see if it is possible to make a Camo plainpack. 20. Rommell22, edit this post to see the syntax for displaying the picture.

22.
quote:
Originally posted by Pvt. Ryan: OK, I installed the new Marco Bergman mods and they are beautiful. Just one note: The instructions in the read.me files say to just install the new batch files if you already have the non-camo versions installed. It does not say to create a shortcut to the "UK Camo" batch file, but if you don't you won't be able to load the camo versions unless you create this shortcut. I have installed all the previous Marco Bergman mods, batch files, and shortcuts, so unless I did something wrong, you probably need to create this shortcut too.

Please note that although they are based on my HR mods, the camo paint schemes are applied by Gordon Molek; he deserves at least a few scraps of the praise. Gordon has obviously assumed that everybody already has his other UK Camo mods in place... bad boy! (smack). If you don't, then Pvt. Ryan is correct: you will need to set up a shortcut to the uk_camo_textures.bat file. This process ought to be explained in the rest of the docs.
