  1. I think the major saving feature for BFC is that it really is a very small team. If they were Valve or EA (God forbid)or similar then they would need to sell bucket loads to cover just their salaries. As it is, it's 6 (7?) guys salaries for 3(?) years which really, in business, isn't that much. Now I know they've all got biggin grillz and solid gold baths and silk toilet roll but really, they can't be in that bad a way. And yes, Skunkworks is buzzing so it's not like they're AWOL, just quiet.
  2. I'm not sure about LOS being only from the centre of the squad, if someone knows of the relevant part of the mammoth thread it states that I'd love to see it. I think of the LOS map as an indicator to trigger a more granular LOF lookup, based on each soldier. ...in which case, how does targeting work? Quotes or input from BFC would be appreciated.
  3. It would be better to change all the units to the status chosen, so if a unit is hiding, it keeps hiding. If it's not, it hides. And vice versa.
  4. I'm loving this scenario so far, initial trades have gone in my favour, I'm trying to make the most of it but I think I'll pull my Strykers back soon, they're too exposed. Excellent scenario.
  5. Glad to be wrong then. It's such a refreshing new experience for me.
  6. I doubt it. That sort of diffusion of effort would slow things down IMHO. They might start the art while the Marines are being play tested but that's it. Personally, I can't wait.
  7. Does it look like at night though...spooky bloody thing. What's the use of that many rounds in one area though?
  8. It's not the calling in, it's the Helicopters arriving on scene. 5.5 mins is outstanding really.
  9. I still use it very occasionally, but if you need the room, well it's your baby. Talking about archives I've a CMAK battle here that seems to be 90% done but is gathering dust...
  10. Agree with this. I found it interesting, at times fun and at others very frustrating. However, there is no real depth to it and it all became too easy for me to play. Spot target, unleash the Javelin, kill the enemy etc etc etc. Still fun for a wee while though and its cheap enough to buy, play for a month and certainly get value out of it. </font>
  11. BFC have more or less said they knew it wasn't ready but had agreed a retail release they couldn't get out of - or couldn't get out of *again*. So yeah I agree with you but I've hope they can fix it. I certainly don't think it's fundamentally broken. Look at the difference from 1.0 to 1.04 and there's loads of progress been made. And they released 12(?) patches for CMBO, so we've got 8 left
  12. 1 - 1, with all it's teething troubles. When LOS/LOF and squad behaviour is fixed it will be brilliant. I feel a terrible commander when I see all those bodies leading nowhere. It makes me think of the CM1 battles I've fought where I pressed on with 40% casualties, or took a short cut I knew would get 10% killed. I can't imagine doing that now I can see their accusatory corpses. I'd love an abstracted soldier to be shown as an icon when the squad is out of viewing range, just to give me an idea what's going on though.
  13. I think this is a subset of the whole movement order question. To shamelessly self quote
  14. You can almost hear the music from "663 Squadron" coming out. "Daaa da da da dadadada".
  15. IIRC, Steve in the LOS thread mentioned squad micro behaviour - hiding from incoming, finding LOS for outgoing etc - is the focus for 105, which, with more LOS fixing, should improve the game immeasurably.
  16. Cheers for the answers. I was just wondering if they're actually used or is some kind of "press alt/ctrl for slower/faster mouse movement" type thing would be better. I'm still finding camera control a bit difficult, mainly due to not being able to see inside buildings etc. Still, it was worst in CM1 for urban combat.
  17. IIRC early war Russians perform at a level below their training to simulate...something or other.
  18. I've noticed rifle sounds long before my units. ISTM that you should at least get a sound contact icon before you the player hear anything.
  19. Perfectly valid anti-insurgency operation. That's what happens 90% of the time
  20. It wasn't a definitive list, just a short cut to picking up the launcher with missiles.
  21. And it should say Javelin launcher with 3 missiles Javelin launcher with 2 missiles Javelin launcher with 1 missile if your squad doesn't have a launcher and just the missiles if you do. Having to do it in 2 rounds isn't really necessary, ISTM.
  22. BFC always said it was ATI's fault and I guess this proves it. Guess you can blame/thank ATI.
  23. And who the old click/tab method. And what combinations are out there?
