  1. I've actually had trouble getting the Javelin out of the Stryker. I think if you "fast" out they drop it. Could be a bug though.
  2. Sorry guys, didn't want to be a thread nazi. *group hug* What about the idea.
  3. I agree on the casualties, however it's not germain to this thread. I sort of assumed, rightly or wrongly, that different icons would already be on the to-do list. If it's not, it definately should be.
  4. In CM1 you could alter the size of your units and so see them from all over the map. In SF, due to 1-1 representation, this is no longer possible. So unless you zoom in on every single unit you can't get a good view of what's actually happening. Basically, if you're like me, you play using the icons. Therefore, does it not make sense to display the unit status in the icons? Swap the graphics from standing to lying down for pinned, change the colour for casualties, have an indicator for ammo. I assume it's all possible, and to my mind very desirable. I would be happy if it even just gave me the pinned status. I know each individual has their own state in the game - and that's excellent - but the unit itself must have some kind of global morale. If the icon showed this the game would, IMHO, be far more playable. Especially in RT. It doesn't break the design philosophy of the game, you could even start to introduce FOW factors to it, it just gives a quick at-a-glance guide to how each unit is doing.
  5. Anyone got a decent hotkeys file they fancy sharing? I can host a couple if people fancy trying different schemas.
  6. I really think the inclusion of unit status on the icon would make the game 100% more playable. In CM1 you could see who was taking cover at a glance, here the units are too small and there's no way to make them bigger - so transfer that info to the icon and it's solved.
  7. I've got exactly the same issue. In fact, I think the whole re-grouping issues is handled oddly. The squad leader (me) should place the re-group order. If that's all we have available from the orders menu then fine, but it shouldn't result in squads running into the middle of the street and getting gunned down, as has happened in the past.
  8. This thread is starting to sound like "When Harry met Sally".
  9. "Hunt", if it works like the old "Move to Contact", and I don't see why it shouldn't, works with a covered arc. Only units within the arc will trigger stopping. And taking fire of course.
  10. I had that before I did the "set affinity" fix.

  13. Umm, WEGO is in. It's all I've been playing. If you mean TCP/IP WEGO then you're right, it's not in. But I must have played...loads - over a thousand games of CM. Of that < 20 TCP/IP, I just don't have the time. So I don't really see the objection. I don't know how indicative of the general case I am, but unless you've got a gaming buddy waiting all the time, and all the time needed to play, I'd imagine my experience is pretty standard.
  14. Also, I've seen the good and the bad of the shadow system. At one point I saw a soldier lift the Javelin to his shoulder in the shadow, in another I saw an M1 which was on a berm casting a shadow that had it hovering 30m up. When will dynamic lighting be introduced?
  15. The main thing is; how on Earth are you supposed to be able to keep track of where everything is or what status they are at? It's very difficult to work with. Even the unit icons get lost between buildings. What I'd like is to either make buildings transparent between the unit and the PoV or to have a "wireframe" toggle, to turn all buildings transparent. Also if we could have the icon showing the units status - standing up or lying down or toggles so it displays ammo/casualties/morale etc. Not just the selected unit but all of them so you can see what's going on, as the units themselves are often too small. Have a line attaching the selected icon and the unit/soldiers and the interface would be giving us accurate data without, IMHO, breaking the design philosophy of the game. Any chance? 16. I've just seen it in a shop in Liverpool. "In game" or something?
  17. Yeah I always did that. Now because your unit's out of LOS when you do, it's confusing.
  18. When you're watching the replay of a turn where a Stryker gets destroyed, the unit icon shows an infantry marker, as it would if it was the crew bailed. Carry on.
  19. When you ctrl-click on the map, where your cursor was isn't in view. No wonder I was getting lost, this in addition to your unit being out of shot above view 3/4 was knackering me. Carry on.
  20. "It's not the despair, I can take the despair. It's the hope I can't stand."
  21. No! I want to endlessly debate! Damn you Battlefront - I thought we were playing CM:Flame Wars? *ahem* Nice one.
