  1. What about actually moving the camera, not just the rotation? That's what I'd like to reverse, but I guess as Hev said it was found to be too difficult and so they changed it, a decision I greatly regret. And it's good to be here, I'll probably be more active once these controls stop driving me to the alt+f4 combination. </font>
  2. You can do that now with the hotkeys with the rotate commands, if that's what you mean?
  3. I've got mission 2 with 0 cas, but it's Elite. You can have it if you want.
  4. Lets think who has the nicest kit, and fight them.
  5. This is from Kwazydog "Im pretty sure all he should need to do is to turn up his 3D Model Quality settings a notch. As I recall all Chalres did there between 1.03 and 1.04 is some LOD tweaking that resulted in 1.04's Improved settings being more like 1.03's Balanced, 1.04s High settings being more like 1.03's improved, etc. As such, if he was running Balanced in 1.03 if he goes up a setting or two for 1.04 he should see very similar results. CMSF does have an auto LOD algorithm that may be kicking in here also though as the card being used is an older one." So try that.
  6. Could you post your PC information? Chip, Vid card, drivers RAM etc?
  7. Can you post a screenshot? It looks like, well, Syria on my screen.
  8. Good God man, do the maps abut? You could get from Barbarossa to Berlin on CM maps with that many scenarios.
  9. Don't worry about it, it's not like we were real mates or anything, I was just wondering.
  10. He's a guy who works for Sony Europe I went to college with, I thought you might have worked with him.
  11. The 1.05 download stats will tell BFC that quite nicely I think. BTW, do you work with a guy called Nino?
  12. Here's the rest, they seem badly linked. 13. http://www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story/0,,2209314,00.html There's several entries up now.
  14. If you set a cover armour arc it will only stop when it sees armour or a threat like an ATG. I used to use "hulldown" but as I got more used to the game I just do it by eye now. In fact, I don't even think about it any more.
  15. TBH, if I was driving a Stryker and saw an enemy AFV I'd pop smoke and get to the nearest cover (not reverse necessarily) so it would be good if the TacAI did that too. It's better than doing nothing.
  16. In my experience, AFV's don't miss often enough to get a chance to deploy, let alone grab a Jav launcher and deploy. So what's required is for the Stryker unit to sense the threat *before* coming under fire. And if it could do that, it would probably be classified.
  17. Bigduke6 is running a meta-campaign that's been well received from what I hear. Check out (if you really want to prove to yourself wargamers aren't designers - yuk): http://the-battle-of-lauben-campaign.foren-city.de/
  18. If you're using Firefox, click in the forum section, then "Frames" "Show this frame only". Then bookmark the forum frame itself.
  19. I find smoke from Strykers quite useful, used shoot and scoot style.
  20. I would say that withdrawing in CM is mainly a waste of time. You're better off sacrificing your lead elements but making sure they use all their ammo first. IOW, sell them, but make sure you don't sell them cheap. To do this correctly you need to get them into a position where you will only be fighting his infantry; before his support weapons or HE chuckers are brought up. Set up ambushes, make them very quick and very bloody so his infantry have to focus on them. What this does is drain him of ammo, so the next defensive line he faces he'll have to do it with different infantry. So what you're doing is swapping the minority of your men for the majority of his bullets, so the next time you're in contact, you have men with bullets and he doesn't. He will have to lean more heavily on his support elements, which generally will be armour. He'll have forced you back into your rear areas where you have your gun line, so by the time you have to deal with his armour you're dealing with it with its counter - ATG's. Disentangling combined arms is the defenders problem. If you do that you can choose what fights what and can leverage yourself out of the odds disparity. IMHO of course.
  21. This is especially true for the Soviets. The only reactive, medium-high powered artillery the Soviets have are 120mm mortars. Their other powerful artillery (122mm guns/howitzers and up) have horrible delay times. TRP's thus make those artillery pieces much more effective. </font>
  22. Cuirassier thanks kindly, after re-reading page #138 I see I had misunderstood the difference between on map and off map guns. So, basically if you have enough T.Ref.Points, you could stick your spotters in a very safe location, as long as you didn't need them to draw LOS on any areas of the map without having to move first, very nice. Thanks for the clarification, I can't wait to start shelling. Cheers </font>
