vincere
I post here instead of general forum because I, rather snobishly, wanted CMer's opinions of 'Over There'. 1. Is it worth buying? 2. Is there plenty of action?
gibsonm
I found it pretty sad (i.e. poor). Very little action (apart from the odd small arms fire) and their props department has made the only right hand drive Bradley in creation: Still Photo’s Download the clips

hellfish
I've had vomit that went down better than this show.
David Chapuis
i rented the entire first series for a dollar and think I got ripped off.
Imperial Grunt
I saw the first episode on TV when it aired and hated it. The producer and director put in way to much Hollywood drama and typically did not listen enough to their military advisor. I refuse to watch any more of that show, just like I refue to watch the movie Jarhead. (I read that pile of trash of a book and I cannot believe it was made into a movie).
MikeyD
A right hand drive Bradley can only mean one thing. Its one of a growing number of Hollywood vehicles that have been kit-bashed using some old surplus Brit APC. There's not much else out there on tracks that's right hand drive.
gibsonm
Agreed, but from memory the running gear didn’t look too “432 ish”.
Elmar Bijlsma
Looks like an 'enhanced' M-113 to me.
gibsonm
Yes except the M113 is left hand drive and this guy actually emerges from what looks like a functional driver’s hatch on the right (which on a 113 is where the header tank and exhaust is).
vincere
Thanks again guys. At least we've still got Band of Brothers pacific to look forward to. I guess I'll pick up a bargain copy og Cross of Iron while I wait to get my war flick fix.
Elmar Bijlsma
Are they filming in Turkey by any chance? Might be the ACV-S though I can't get a good piccie of the hatch layout. *edit* It's also a front right engined job but some other pictures I've seen haver several kinds of turrets and MG in the right forward position which would suggest ther's an opening there. Not the driver hatch but it needn't be for Hollywood magic. [ July 27, 2006, 02:48 AM: Message edited by: Elmar Bijlsma ]
Elmar Bijlsma
Found the owners of the 'Bradley', a military vehicles rental business. http://www.armytrucks.com/page1.html has a much better picture of the odd creature. Not a ACV-S, the uper hull is shaped completely different. What a puzzle.
John Kettler
It's filmed near me. Occasionally, I'll see flatbeds go by with shattered, burned Hummers on them. Haven't see much of the show, but of what I have, some parts have had a high pucker factor (sweeping a village while on the verge of being back shot) and some has been, well, stupid (possible insurgent building, dumb ROE's, and even dumber insurgents who ran outside for spray and pray rather than pot away from inside their nice, substantial building). GIs in Iraq are decidedly not impressed. http://www.strategypage.com/dls/articles/200591112644.asp Regards, John Kettler
