Speedy
I am not suggesting taking away control from the player those that can't handle it can keep the 'Elite Lite' difficulty level. What I am saying is that being able to issue orders paused is unrealistic as it takes away the real world time pressure to issue orders which we had before the patch took it away from us. jomni
Here we go with realism debate again... If you are a commander in real life, you give an order to your platoon leader, and the platoon leader commands the squad leaders instead. In CMSF, you give commands directly to each squad leader to the point of micromanaging because the AI can't handle thing themselves (which is not realistic). They should have SOPs which they can perform well even without baby sitting. CMSF is not realistic in the first place (even withouth the pause feature).

Speedy
And you take an hour while the world is paused to issue them in real life too.

Darren J Pierson
As has been said before, if you don't like orders while paused, don't pause.

jomni
My point is that this is a "game" and people should "enjoy" playing it. The "Unpausable Real Time" just takes away the fun factor for some players like me who doesn't want a "click fest". My two cents. Of course there are people who value the RT aspect to the truest sense and I respect their preference. So play the game without pausing.

Further on this, do you think this process is instantaneous? It takes time at each level for the commanders to decide what they want done and then issue orders. For company level and lower fights (which CMSF is designed for) I seriously doubt that a real world unit could have orders distributed and acted upon much quicker, if any, than it can be done in CMSF. In most situations I believe it would take longer in the real world as once you issue orders to a unit in CMSF it is acted on instantly.

thewood
Actually, there are supposed to be delays built in. Haven't seen them yet. Did you ever play CM before? You want realism, play POA2. Have fun with that.
