John D Salt
What will people be wanting for the title music for CM:AK? For my money, the best choice must surely be "Lili Marleen", preferably the original as sung by Lale Andersen. All the best, John.
Doodlebug
D-Day Dodgers perhaps? Same tune different words.
Malakovski
Wagner. But not Flight of the Valkyries.
Firefly
Yup, Lili Marlene as it was the favourite of both sides, not sure about the copyright though. Failing that, something by Verdi or Rossini, or Lilibolero, that must have been out of copyright even when Custer used it.
Ex Bellator
Well as they are going with the German 'Afrika Korps' title FWIW I'd agree the German version of Lili Marlene would seem most appropriate.

I suppose we could make do with an instramental version only, and leave it to the audience whether they want to mumble the original German words, or the Marlene Dietrich version, or the Amanda Lear one, or "D-Day Dodgers", or "Bombing by deflection", or any one of half a hundred others. Unfortunately, I think this will result in a certain segment of the British audience being reminded of "The Belles of St. Trinian's", and demanding mods to enable them to have Bren Gun Carriers crewed by schoolgirls wielding hockey-sticks. All the best, John.
Andreas
Would that be a segment of '1', based in Sevenoaks, John?
Ex Bellator
Thanks John, that's one Bren carrier mod I'm going to start working on right away!

Michael Dorosh
Then again, there of those of us who skip the intro entirely and get on with the business of playing CM without need for superficial stimuli to "get us in the mood"...
Little_Black_Devil
I think "Lilli Marlene", as sung by Marlene Dietrich would be the best choice, preferably the English version.
laxx
nora jones with sitar background, complete with incense burining and tantric atmosphere.....seriously, with modding, anything is possible. guru swamy "puppchen"
Maj. Battaglia
For some reason, whenever I hear "Bolero" I get a mental picture of forlorn formations of tanks and trucks ploughing through North Africa, with blinding sand in abundance. And the occasional camel that has strayed from the Somaliland Camel Corps. That's not necessarily a vote, though.

If we're going to have a 'sung' version, I'd prefer Vera Lynn. What an agent that woman must have had - starting World War II just to plug her new single. Put me down for one of the St. Trinian's Bren Carrier mods too.

jiggles
"Firestarter" by The Prodigy. What any self-respecting German tank commander would have had blaring out when going up against the Ronsons.

Sailor Malan
Whistled version of Colonel Bogey. For some reason, views of British vehicles crossing deserts leaving dust clouds has to be done to Col. Bogey in in my book! You can then insert words of your choice! Like the St Trinians references though. I think that the would have to be downgraded to green though (=3rd formers?) If you allowed the upper fifth (=elite) the game balance would suffer... Final thought, Free French in the desert will have to have something from Casablanca! (If she can stand it, I can. Play it Sam) (IIRC)

Duke of Earl
The instrumental version of "Lilli Marlene" isn't all that bad.. with the right mix of instruments.. could be winner.. Then... there's the other nominee.. the "Colonel Bogey March".. but, that instrumental sorta' reminds me of "The Great Escape" movie.. Ex Bellator
Gaaaak! That instrumental is terrible, sounds like my old Dad deciding to attack the family keyboard after half a sherry. I was thinking something along the lines of the 6th Panzergrenadier version here. Either that or a better instrumental version if there is one.
