Truppenfuhrung
I'm relatively new to CMBB and when a decide to add some mods to the game I found myself overwhelm with the tons of mood available. So I'm asking, what are the "must have" ? Thanks in advance ! [ January 05, 2003, 03:34 PM: Message edited by: Truppenfuhrung ]
Juju
Hi and welcome! Ah, not to be immodest, but anything by me is a must have. No vehicles, but lotsa other goodies. At least check 'em out at CMMODS. While you're there be sure to check out AndrewTF's great collection of uniforms and TanksALot's great terrain mods. Björn Eriksson
A definite must-have are all the beautiful CMMOS mods at Combat Mission HQ
Jaws
Yes for the beginning go to Combat Mission HQ and install CMMOS 4.02. After that go to Combat Mission Modification Database than you have the best mods.

Laox
Apart from juju I don't believe anyone above answered the question... it is my questions as well.. what is the minimum list of must-have mods? some fire/smoke/explosion ones, something for gridded grass that doesnt break anything else, perhaps some better trees? there must be a minimum list for newbies that wouldn't know the difference between one uniform and another, and are not interested (yet) in snow-camo for their tanks.

It's impossible, since it would be different for each individual. But... Gridded grass? I believe Captain Wacky made all versions. Explosions? Try mine, you'll love 'em. Trees? Gorgeous ones? Try TanksALot's. And if you don't know one uniform from another, you might as well download all AndrewTF's (the God of uniforms)work as well. All available at the link I posted above. Now, why do I get this sudden feeling of deja-vu? [ January 05, 2003, 09:59 PM: Message edited by: Juju ]
MrNoobie
dont forget RKsoldats fire, this will give a more realistic flame to the flamethrowers. im in search of a good grass mod so for now im using Flesh's grass mod. anyone care to try and mod the Battlefield 1942 grass, escpecially the Kursk one
Laox
eh ok I know what you're trying to say but nobody is asking for a perfect list. I went through the lists, and damn it took AGES, and picked out a few .. just happened to remember people saying your stuff was good, so included that.. I felt like I was throwing darts at a 5 mile wide dart board. Few have detailed information on what is changed, many over-write parts of other mods, and there are dark warnings in some topics about texture re-use that can break other things. I ended up picking ones that had been downloaded a lot, and clicking into the zips, and previewing BMPs(!) to help. The slowness of the mods site doesnt help, you can wait half an hour no matter how fast your connection is, while fatter ones dribble download, just to find out they are not interesting. So speaking as the current resident idiot newbie, I'll say again, a 'rough and ready' list of 'must have mods' is a very good place to start and would help a lot of other newbies .. it doesnt MATTER if its different for different people -- don't you know newbies have no personality until we've hung around here for six months and know who is who and what is what? Until then, we it is all the same to us, we're happy with some basic upgrades that a few clever elders think is "reasonable". A little post with eight 'click here' zips would be wonderful.
Alkiviadis
Some texture models in CMBB are the same as in CMBO: SPW251 9/16, SPW250 9/16/7, Jgpz4, Hetzer, Marder II, et. al. For example I'm very fond of Gordon E. Molek's SPW250/251 series in speckled "Ambush" camo (summer/winter, they also include markings for the 1st SS, 5th SS, 16th Pz). I renumbered them (just add 100000 to the bmp number) and plugged them right in. You can get them at the Combat Mission HQ.
GJK
I'll put a plug in for my Beefy Sounds mod and Beefy MG sounds. Both under GJK on CMMODS. The Beefy Sounds mod is rather large though, 10mb+.
Laox
yes I've been enjoying the beefy sounds mod for some time, thanks, a bargain at twice the price!
Lou2000
The list of 'Must Have Mods' will change depending upon who you ask ...... CMMOS is an excellent place to start, not only for the mods but the fact that you can easily undo anything you dont like. The Mod Database is another must visit site ... but the majority of mods still dont support CMMOS. This is changing, but slowly. If trying Non-CMMOS mods I would strongly suggest you back up your CMBB BMP folder, that way you can always go back to the defaults without having to do a full re-install. I have my BMP folder backed up and burnt to a CD to save space, If you are going to do this remember that some of the patches add/change the bmp's, so backup after applying the patches. You could also check what bmp's the mod will change and back those up ...... I use this method for switching between (Non-CMMOS) gridded and non gridded terain mods, it is only a few bmp's and takes seconds to switch back and forth. In the end as the bmp's dont change gameplay you already have the 'Must Have' graphics ....BFC's defaults ones !! The rest is personal taste and eye candy !!...........and dont we love that eye candy Lou2000
Ant
For me the must have mods are: AndrewTF's Uniforms, all of them. Juju's weapons. Winter vehicles; the original game doesn't come with any winter textures so you need to get mods to have them, just pick a winterised mod for each vehicle, it'll depend on your preferance as to which one you go for. Apart from those all others are very nice but rather a matter of taste, the dusty armoured vehicles are very good but not necessarily an essential, more a matter of preferance really Edited to add that if you are a European CDV user then you'll need the anti-censorship stuff by 'Shroeder' (sp?) which puts the SS runes into the game instead of WG [ January 06, 2003, 09:04 AM: Message edited by: Ant ]

vedder
Ok, I just reinstalled CMBB and all my mods and while I went through them i wrote everyone i had down so i would never have to redownload them and I also know which vehicles are stock and which are modded. This is my sumpreme list of everything I have and they all play nice together, they arent cmmos and they can all be dled from cmmods.com. I've been through every freaking mod on that site so if its not here Don't be offended mod makers I'm just very picky as to what I use and how it fits in with my stuff. Maybe someone might wanna give em a try and they might like the atmosphere gained from them, I know i do.
