Just a couple easy DEMO questions

Will the DEMO have PBEM capability?

More importantly, will the DEMO feature a FULL scenario? (like the CM demo does) A full scenario demo really gives you a feel for the game, and how well it all works on your PC.

Thanks for making this game!

That would be kinda cool!

I just want something we can all play (possibly by E-Mail), discuss, and play again while waiting for the final version. One, or two (CM demo had two!) complete little scenarios would be SWEET! It would also allow us who STILL have ancient PC's to find out if they cut the mustard or not.

One complete scenario... that's all I ask...

Great!

When?

"Soon" like a couple of hours, or "soon" like a couple of weeks?

They are for both for DOS.

Anyway, the problem is not the version but how to run it. I always see people writing "too bad that COS does not run under ... yadayadayada". This is not true. If you got the games already, all you need is a slowdown program (like "SlowDown") and then some grasp about how to configure a config.sys template in Win9x for games which need ems memory (like COS).

If you don´t know how to do this - it is described on techhelp pages of the good abandonware sites. (I don´t name names. smile.gif )

Waiting for this DEMO is like -- sitting in the dentist's office and all there is to read is Glamour and Good Houskeeping, and it is August and the air-conditioner broke down an hour ago.

And there aren't enough chairs, even though we know the Doc goes to Bermuda every month. With his secretary, who can't ever find the chart, so you end up with novocaine in the wrong place...

Terence's mice -- what's that?

And PBEM -- how does that work -- go easy, I am the FNG.

I would suspect that we will be able to play the campaign from both sides in solo play.

YAY! A whole campaign (though only a one year game)... WOO HOO! And PBEM!

Immer - PBEM is playing against someone online, but taking turns via E-Mail. YOu take your turn, and then attach a file to an E-Mail and send it to your opponent. He then does the same and sends it back to you. Combat Mission has this feature and its GREAT!

Looking forward to the Demo more than ever now...

I have a rather low powered PC myself.

Looking at the sys req's for this game however, I'd say we are both fine.

PBEM does not take any more PC power than playing a game solo.

I'll gladly play ya as soon as the Demo gets here!

No, not Dick CLark.

The name actually comes from Tom Clancy's books.

Okay, at the risk of being a complete ignoramous...

What exactly does that cover? I have really only concentrated my reading of WWII on the war AFTER the US became involved. I've looked in my sourcebooks, and not been able to find Fall Gelb. What can I expect this campaign to cover??? How many countries will be involved?

Also thanks for the reading suggestions! I'll check the library this weekend.

WOW! This DEMO is gonna rock!

It should help the wait till the full game.

Thanks again Monkeybutt!

I know what you mean BloodyBucket... I've begun coursing back through all the books I own, now looking at them from a larger scale than CM.

  • 7 years later...

Hello everyone, I haven't posted in forever...but anyway.

Just downloaded this demo and was "playing" the German side. Anyway, I know this is probably an idiotic question (there's no stupid questions, just idiots who ask them, right?), how in the heck do you invade Belgium and get your troops off the Maginot Line??

If you play the Allied side, I noticed this happens immediately.
