Mord
That's extremely badass! I love seeing the ranks and rifles in place of men. Nice, quick reference for the fire power within a squad along with who does what within the structure. Thanks much. Mord.

Sgt.Squarehead
On a vaguely similar note, here's the web archive for the defunct 'Bayonet Strength' site: https://web.archive.org/web/20160425143250/http://www.bayonetstrength.150m.com/General/site_map.htm Edited July 3, 2019 by Sgt.Squarehead

SimpleSimon
I actually did not realize the US was withholding the M-60 to designated weapon's squads and not handing them out as Squad-Automatic-Weapons. Awful idea. Edited February 19, 2021 by SimpleSimon
Sgt.Squarehead
Knew their allocation was odd in Vietnam, from H&E research, but that was 'Nam!
SimpleSimon
There are photos of BARs still hanging around in Vietnam too. The Americans just couldn't come up with a proper Automatic Rifle it seems and Johnson's Automatic Rifle was only built in limited numbers. The British backed off from getting rid of the Bren when they realized that despite the automatic capability of Assault Rifles-they did not actually make very good machine guns. Lightly-built closed-bolt firearms with a 20 round mag generally didn't. If you're on a budget committee you probably don't see that though. You saw the M14 and M16 and probably said "they're machine guns, so you don't need the M-60".
