Incorrect MG34 3D Model

Recommended Posts

Taking a look at the 3D models for the MG34 and MG42, I noticed that while the textures for the two guns are different, they both share the same 3D model for the receiver. In addition, the shape of the trigger is also wrong for the MG34.

First off, here is a picture of the MG34 and MG42 side-by-side. From this angle, one can see the MG34's receiver is thinner, among other things. Note as well the shape of the MG34 trigger, which has two grooves in it to allow it to be fired in either semi-auto or full auto mode.

Now to the in-game shots. Although I took these in CMFI, the problem exists in both CBMN and CMFI. It's readily apparent that while the MG34 has a different texture, it's using the 3D model of the receiver of the MG42. From better angles, one can also see that the MG34 trigger is also modeled wrong:

Hmm. The MG34 pictured above appears to be a very old placeholder that somehow slipped back into the game. We have the correct models on this end and KwazyDog thinks it's in Normandy now, though he hasn't double checked. In any case we'll get it fixed.

Thanks, Steve!

Not addressed to you at all, Luke. I was simply commenting on how impressive it is that such a small item gets address by BF. We have seen other people get excoriated on these forums for raising similar minor issues that no one else even seemed to notice. So, this is very promising.

Firstly, it is pretty impressive that BFC actually take time to fix minor errors like this that really didn't need to be fixed for the game to do its "job".

Secondly, it speaks volumes for BFC's reputation of making rock solid games and quenching bugs as soon as they appear when this is the kind of stuff people complain about :)

CM, the Rolls-Royce of wargames. Each and every game is hand crafted by Old World artisans in a secret factory under the South Pole.

:D
