LongLeftFlank
At this juncture I'd like to note that the CW module will be Fatally Flawed© without inclusion of a NAAFI van or at least a tea urn Flavour Object. In fact, British troops should derive a special "Brew Up" morale benefit, including berserker rage should said object be destroyed. On the negative side, execution of any and all orders will be delayed for the duration of said Brew Up. Alas, I can't find an online version of the Spike Milligan cartoon showing the Mind of the British Soldier, with 75% of the brainspace devoted to "Thinking About Tea and Cigarettes".
Sgt Schultz
I was going to ask if I had to design all Brit scenarios around Tea Time. Where are the scattered scone flavor objects?
Sergei
I have it on good authority that "Tommy Cookers" are included. That's something to do with brewing tea, right???
GerryCMBB
I know all the fun that has been made about the tea brewing. I was nevertheless surprised to see a reference to it in a book. A squad had been hard hit as they advanced. (Sorry for the poor devils that lost their lives.) The remainder crawled back to the safety of some bocage, dug in, and brewed some time. I wonder was it 4:00 PM? Gerry
Wodin
My Ambrose loved to bring it up alot aswell...I found his writing very pro American and anti Brit and anyone else. I'm sure the average British soldier whilst working on the Bridge over the Kwai didn't get much tea... I think it's a sterotype thats become a fact. I'm not saying they didn't drink it. However I don't believe they'd leave others in the sh1t because they wanted a brew.

Well...it does have something to do with brewing up. BTW, Crisp has an amusing anecdote about that in Brazen Chariots. Michael

Nidan1
Bridge over River Kwai story is a work of fiction. The Burma-Siam railroad was built by the Japanese using POWs, from Britain, Australia, USA, Canada, NZ and Holland, as well as forced laborers from all over Asia. It was truly an international effort. With Japan as the construction contractor.
LongLeftFlank
You're being sarcastic I hope. Upwards of 50,000 -- mostly Asians -- perished of disease, malnutrition and outright murder building that damned thing. The Japanese were no nicer to "conquered races" than the Nazis at that particular time in history, revisionist cinema notwithstanding.

Not sure whether it should appear on the 'Combat' or 'Special' orders tab though.
