  1. I had this experience in the third mission of The Scottish Corridor campaign: I had to wipe out ALL ennemy units. I think there was no surrender in this case because the last unit I destroyed was a StuG; I think he weighted a lot in the total points, which probably explains the Germans didn't surrender.
  2. We already had this discussion, regarding ChatGPT, elsewhere on this forum. I already had the opportunity to use AI for scientific matters. It's an interesting and useful tool. But I'm definitively not found of it for CREATIVE purposes, if only because it blurs the frontiers between true and fake. And don't drag me into that "truth is a relative kind of thing" mess; I don't buy it.
  3. I had another approach. I'm requested "to protect following units from ambush/surprise attack", so I cleared the roads and woods with infantry using haltracks as cover. The,n I moved my haltrack in hulldown position to cover the infantry progress towards the farm (both from the front and the right flank). I didn't attack nor scouted the left flank. I miserably failed the first time, due to a combination of poorly coordinated infantry movements, too hasty movements and bad luck in spotting, but I achieved all objectives with this strategy at the second attempt.
  4. Yes, I'm an old fart. A "homemade WW2 picture" is nothing but a fake. I don't intend to go into that.
  5. Is he Gerry on your side of the Channel? On our side he's called Jerry (all jokes apart!).
  6. I 100% agree with you. Turret facing is really a basic command for tanks that would require a dedicated and independant order.
  7. Remember that, on the Geoportail (www.geoportail.gouv.fr), you have access to 1950 maps. While not as precise as today maps, they still provide some elevations information.
  8. Thank you. I wasn't aware of the target arce facing trick.
  9. I made a quick search but couldn't find any related topic so... Is there a way to chose a tank's turret facing? The "face" combat command changes the vehicle's facing... But there are many situations where you want to have the tank to face in one direction (like a road) and the turret in another (towards the enemy, by example...). Is there a way to perform this very basic tactical command? Similarily, when you retreat and fire smoke with a vehicle, can you chose the direction towards which the smoke is fired?
  10. Just for the anecdote... Farris & Duncan didn't stop here, they managed to destroy two German halftracks... with a single shot! Unbelievable! The two halftracks were sitting just one next to another, one of them abandoned, and the explosion of the unabandoned one destroyed the other! The blast was so big that Farris & Duncan, who fired nearly point-blank from inside a building, were shaken and fled in the open, where Farris was killed (that's how I know of Duncan's name)! But the story ends well, the Germans were routed and Duncan is alive and well to enjoy his deservedly owned VC ! Scots still rule!...
  11. Hehe... That's YOUR fault damn British, you had a Queen for too long! She was already the Queen when I was born, She was the Queen when I graduated, when I married, She was still the Queen a few months ago... She was the Queen forever !!!!!!!
  12. Thank you very much @George MC I'm so bad at playing the Germans in CMRT... Eaxactly the kind of lessons I need to supplement the SPW training scenarios! Now I know what I will do once I'm down with "The Scottish Corridor"!
  13. That's crazy! It means that you are more efficient using teams than full squads to do the job? Really sounds like a bug!
  14. You're absolutely correct, I should have used LCpl. My apologies to Her Majesty's Army.
  15. I guess the buildings' look is not unknown to you as well!
  16. Let me introduce Pfc Farris who just was awarded the Victoria Cross. Today, June 26th, 1944 he reapeatedly attacked and finally destroyed a Tiger tank on his own: My first Tiger tank! Scots rule!
  17. I also had a couple of Carriers with a hidden 51 mm mortar inside. I loaned one to an IC team and another one to a regular infantry squad but none of the mortars appear in their weapons arsenals, they continue to use their standard rifles... Maybe only the unit who owns the Carrier can use it (that would make sense, not everybody is trained to mortar use)? It looked strange to me to have a AT gun ammo bearer team armed with a mortar though...
  18. The thread is getting dangerously political… It'll soon erupt into a fight between pro- and con- Brexiters, followed by Scots separatists against English unionists, with the Welsh joining in at some point… And a French referee.
  19. By the way, using Bren carriers as mini AC seems completely AGAINST their recommended use in RL. They were NOT suppose to engage the enemy. But as CM doesn't allow to remove the Bren from the carrier, you either have to chose between two unrealistic ways of using them: either as AC, or wasting 1 of the Bren guns.
