  1. While playing the excellent 'Myth of Invincibility' I noticed this: Is the HEAT round just a typo or something worse? I have to say the gun took out two T34/85s with ease, which I enjoyed immensely.
  2. Okay so I got distracted by my game in progress which is Myth of Invincibility by Kari Salo (hope Kari is around here). Great battle, very nice map with some decent assets (Axis of course ) and challenging opposition. So far so good, and I just got that lovely radio 'scratch' and this: Love it .
  3. That is the sort of difference I was asking about I suppose. Interesting I felt it was the other way round, perhaps it will feel different in other scenarios. No worries, thanks for the answer anyway . Oh and thanks @MOS:96B2P and @George MC. George will be well aware that I am very familiar with his excellent work . Having said that I'm pretty sure I've played more of his BN battles than RT ones. Time to fire up RT again and look through the list of battles...
  4. It's the same engine, so I assume AI intelligence is the same for both? Only asking as I 'percieve' that the Soviets are a bit more linear and predictable. Maybe it's intentional or maybe it's imagined (and I don't really mind) but just wondering...
  5. Agreed they are very nice, even if they make you feel really cold . Particularly the wind whistling over the deep snow...
  6. Indeed, indeed. Anyway my first bridge crossing on this map (scenario is RT Myth of Invincibility) was that I quick moved first one then another Panther to a stone bridge, they both had a move waypoint half way across and another move waypoint off the other end, then a quick to follow. Executed beautifully. Not sure I even needed to slow them down. There is however a wooden bridge on the other flank which my 'route reconnaissance' says is passable... Not planning to use it just yet though. I like this game a lot, even the logistics / movement get to me .
  7. Thanks George, thought so. If other things didn't keep getting in the way I might be able to try it .
  8. I agree the extremes are obvious but what if it's a steel bridge, or can my Panthers cross a narrow bridge etc.? My question came about because I wasn't sure from looking at the bridges on a 3D map. Anyway I have rather belatedly realised I can plot waypoints from miles away to check whether I'm allowed to cross. Is that correct? @Sgt.Squareheadthat is a sad photo . However I don't think that will happen in CM...
  9. Well that sounds better than a more dramatic event mid-crossing, and the graphics for that could be challenging . I'm about to give it a try in an RT scenario, there's a bit of a drive to get to various bridges, so hopefully I can get across when I get there.
  10. Many thanks George and your markings sound most useful. So when I'm cruising around in my Jagdtiger/Tiger 2/Tiger 1/Panther etc. I should be thinking is that bridge steel, stone or wood and is it wide enough. Is that all? If I am in my Jagdtiger is steel okay, or stone? I assume wood is a no-no.
  11. A bit later... I see in the Editor the different bridge types: Are the numbers the tonnage capacities? I'm not sure what R, F and W refer to - perhaps width but perhaps not. Recognising which one of these options you have in a battle would seem to be impossible simply by looking at it, although width may be more obvious in game and may not be the deal breaker as far as my Panzer IV getting across?
  12. Forgive me if this has been discussed but I can't find it. Are there known weight limits for the different types of bridge I might encounter in the WW2 titles (assuming I can work out what type they are)? As you might be guessing I have not done a lot of bridge crossing yet. Currently I'm in the situation of having to run my vehicles up to whatever type of bridge it is in the hope that I can get across, not always a good use of battle time . Of course not knowing might be a closer match to real life I suppose... I can of course experiment - for example will that Russian wooden bridge take the weight of my Panzer IV? Yes, seems okay so what about a Panther etc.? And in time, assuming bridge type A is always the same, I might build up sufficient knowledge if my memory holds up.
  13. Two more in Devon as well, seen below at Bovington Tank Museum in Dorset. Plus there's at least one more inside on display. Nice video. Interesting to see that tank fans were socially distant even in July 2019 .
  14. Imagine my surprise (or perhaps joy) when I was asked to go there for window fastenings! I should however find out the manufacture date of the T34/85 before I try to buy it... Nice picture of the Leclerc jeep by the way.
  15. We're not all on scrumpy round here. But if I had to recommend a cider it would be Roger's from Mudgley, http://wilkinscider.com/ Roger is taking orders, but sadly not to everywhere in the far flung areas of the world. I'm not on commission by the way Anyway we should be talking about CM, should we not?
  16. Slightly convoluted in execution but correct. Anyway, I was wondering in a less busy moment why we always say 'Are you okay?' instead of 'Is you okay?'. Sounds a bit London admittedly, which I'm not. But @Anson Pelmet it's your fault that I'm even thinking about it .
  17. Too right my friend. So we all need to make the most of the time we have and play more CM .
  18. I'm still not sure, some photos look like that, others don't. One of us is going to have to buy an old jeep mounted with a 30 cal or 50 cal and confirm exactly which positions are required . Hopefully not me as I have my eyes on a beautiful T34/85 in a local scrapyard. I kid you not, I've already asked and was told it's not for sale .
  19. Okay but I think Coup d'Etat is not in BN or RT? And I'm mourning Eddie Van Halen, so not that focused. But I'd like to try to replicate your issue. Will try a few replays of similar situations if I can find them...
  20. So hang on. I thought a replay is a replay, full stop. It can't change if you play it again from a different angle can it? If it can I might replay some of the turns in my less successful games until I get a better result
  21. Thanks my friend, will give it a go. Not sure which side, but my usual proclivity suggests Axis. Also I've been thinking of playing Wittmann's Demise as Allies (not my usual proclivity). Hmmm - choices, choices .
  22. Ha, had to stop watching almost immediately as it sounds like a battle I would definitely like to try. I'll have no spoilers here . Thanks for the heads up though.
  23. When I was a lot younger than I am now, I found a can of worms at the side of a lovely river in Scotland (probably the Tummel or the Tay). Not really thinking about it, I opened the said can. Immediately I had a cloud of presumably very hungry flies in my face. Lucky flies I suppose, not so lucky me. Is that where the expression comes from?
  24. Agreed, let's not . Best if we stick to the useful reminders on the subject of grammar .
  25. Really? I haven't seen that but I'm fairly new here. However, I nearly always play CM as the Germans (not necessarily Nazis), so maybe that puts me in the frame
