  1. To use the Hull Down command for the weapon they are not going to use is a little over the top. Getting troops from A to B is its function, it is also capable of defending against armor. If it follows the doctrine to debus infantry behind a feature and then support, it. It's mobility and ability to swim came at a cost.
  2. ATGM's during the Cold War were wire guided. Trees, Powerlines play a significant role, for the sake of realism this must be included.
  3. Artillery is more lethal and so is counter artillery, artillery had to be mobile. Every square meter was referenced. I may be a little over the top here, but you get the idea. It must have been an attacker's nightmare.
  4. The close contact is for the 73 mm smooth bore gun and the ATGM for long range. This vehicle can be turret down to engage tanks at long range. CM doesn't allow this but that is not the fault of the Russian designers. T55 had Saggers ATGM's too on the turret. They know how to design AFV's. Ergonomics you must find people of around 175 cm to be suitable.
  5. It is European politics; Polish independence was guaranteed after WW 1 and it became a Soviet satellite state after WW 2. The cold war send the USSR bankrupt.
  6. Good I would like to know what software is compatible. It doesn't need to be a top of the range CAD program.
  7. It was Manstein who told his captors exactly what they liked to hear. Gehlen may even have been a double agent we never will learn the full story. Hands Speidel Rommel's second in command became commander of NATO"s land forces. But now we enter the realm of the conspiracy theorists.
  8. Yes double the armor 12 inches T-64 (Account for the sloping armor) vs 8 inches penetration. The L7 105 mm was a fine gun. The ATGM was its undoing and The T62 was the most u to date Russian tank in the Middle East. The Tungsten which was the penetrator doesn't grow on trees. I don't know of any conflicts between the T64A and the Centurion.
  9. @Bubba883XL here is something for you. Given these facts and perceptions, one must realistically conclude the Soviets would likely never have gone to war with NATO unless significantly provoked. One must also conclude Soviet perceptions of (and desires for) minimal Warsaw Pact support also militated against starting a war unless no other options were available. 10. It comes from freedom of information as released by the respective governments. YouTube documentaries are entertaining, but historians go over the archives. Germany is united for some time and they have not found anything spectacular in the former DDR's archives. They fell asleep more likely. We all knew Europe wouldn't have been worth living in.
  11. The British L7 105 mm (NATO gun) shooting APDS penetrated any Soviet tank over a mile. A shame I won't see the Centurion for some time. Earlier Cold WAR could also be interesting example the 1956 Hungarian uprising. JS III vs 90 mm Pattons. M40 106 mm recoilless rifles for the infantry mounted on the Jeep. (It was called 106mm not to confuse with other 105 mm munitions.)
  12. If in doubt look at the registration plates. I am puzzled why the Hungarians use the German word. Somebody could have restored this brilliant car. I already posted this before I realized, the present registration must be in Hungary. I am not an expert on Trabant, but they were cheapos.
  13. @Sgt.Squarehead found one. Just must make the street with the same houses. I managed to make a Town-Hall and Church too, Woud be nice if they permitted plug ins to customize it.
  14. For what it is worth. The USSR would have reacted with a massive nuclear strike if they faced a Barbarossa type campaign by NATO. There is no evidence they ever planned a Bagration type of operation against the West. Both sides adopted the doctrine if you want to keep peace prepare for war by MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction). Let's keep the game interesting, we all know it can be over inside 30 minutes.
  15. In which game do you have them? The ones I see have already two floors. I look for a single-story house with dormer windows.
  16. @Sgt.Squarehead would you know how to make new style of buildings for the editor? I am looking for attic modifications. In lots of houses in Europe they are used for spare bedrooms or storage.
  17. One of my secrets, what I know, I know from somebody else. Thanks for your appreciation.
  18. Thank you for your appreciation, it is the 'Set Up Phase'. You don't spend much time looking for K-Terrain features.
  19. Recon starts with a Map Recon and I was inspired by someone using the cover arc to read the terrain. CM doesn't give HQ a topographic map. By using a cover arc, it is easy to make one. Elevated terrain is not covered by the cover arc using camera position 9. I plotted a move order near the centre of the map near low laying terrain near water or a bridge is ideal. Press K+Shift to cover all the map.
  20. Yes, paired with their voices. Special Forces approached the trains which were blackened out and planted their devices. Their activities were masked by 2 F104 going through the sound barrier just above. Once they moved in the Special Unit knew the positions of the bad guys. Now 40 years later, drones maybe the size of a housefly. Pity the link doesn't say how they identified the hostage takers, but note the train was blacked out by the hostage takers. Their movements were traced whenever they moved. You must use auto-translate. Reconstructie treinkaping De Punt - RTV Noord - YouTube
  21. I think the 'Hull Down' position needs to be modified. Russian BMP's T55 MBT's also have ATGM systems mounted on their turret, German Marder also with TOW or Milan. All these vehicles need to go hull down by plotting a target with the weapon they are not using. In WW2, the .50 call on the Sherman and the Halftrack. Kind regards
  22. Principle was the same to listen inside the objective. At least the game could give you a contact icon.
  23. Nope it was an example of recon by listening. The latter was by more modern means it goes back 40 years. You don't have to spot the enemy visually. In WW 2 they could make out where the fire of an MG42 comes from, already 40 years ago they could identify individuals by their heartbeat.
  24. We have a computer game, and the memory is taken up by the computations in the background. The setting of way points is done by vector graphics. The road also could have a vector line in it. In other words, in the editor you configure the road with a vector already plotted in it. The move tool just copies it and set your way points automatically. It takes next to no memory away from your pc. It is tedious at present because the vector interacts with the bitmap pixels.
