  1. You can be sure of one thing there is no enemy infantry where the AI planned his artillery mission.
  2. Exactly and there is no patrol program? The game gives you certain tools use them or you lose the opportunity. A 1 hour or 2 hour scenario is gamey. A designer just can't make an eight hour scenario. You defend and an attack is imminent, if you ever play me feel free to use your assets outside the game preparation area of the attacker. Which is gamey but forests, chokepoints are fair game.
  3. Exactly I just use Light ASAP even on light using a 25 pounder the impact if every there is still an overkill. In one British mission you even get 5 TRP's. C2? Just follow the explosions.
  4. I was in San Diego, Los Angeles area some years ago. The navy base there must be seen to be believed. Their shopping mall can be compared with the duty free of Singapore Airport. I just hope their medical facilities matches this. Oh yes the hospital ship was berthed too at the time. It seems think twice before you decide to be a civilian again.
  5. Why? preplan is just a bad idea lots of times but sometimes it is not. Area denial of obvious lanes of approach is a good tactic.
  6. Da Da Net Durak only Russian I know. Yes Yes No You Idiot.
  7. Ok it is inaccessible for the time being. Thanks for letting me know.
  8. Sounds like what we call preplanned, artillery in CM is very tentative. Preplanned is more the British Tactic you get TRP's with a lot of 25 pounders aka a set piece attack. Love him or hate him it was something Montgomery did well his command and control with artillery. The US had far more radios even for squads for them you need LOS over long distances. Don't know or this is mirrored in the game. With 105 mm and up I would suggest have a good look at the preplanned option. The US with their radios in a armored platoon they have two. Which makes your forces very flexible. Assign a 105 mm howitzer to a HQ Company Sherman as a suggestion. It sometimes makes the game boring.
  9. Call it in ASAP even when you don't have a LOS on your area. Establish where your KT's are and the function (fire or observing). One game is Chaumont 1st round if you get 105 mm call in times is 12 minutes which is realistic. Take for example Omaha Beach on D-Day all the battleships had direct LOS on the German positions but no communications with the landed troops. The best reference I have is Destroyers at Normandy. They put a time of around twenty minutes as quoted before effective fire was established using an FO. The preplanned bombardments were an absolute failure. WW 2 artillery is more about area denial.
  10. The Tank T-boned the AFV cause? One or two drivers didn't think. If something like this happens in Oz the cops come out with their AlcoLimit breath analyzing kit. Sorry I am not Russian or Ukrainian.
  11. If I understand it correctly PBEM+++ is for the Steam version only. I can't find any of it on my versions.
  12. Nope you have up to 15 minutes to play with in the beginning of every game. Say the average game is 1 hour it means the strike will take place at the 45th minute mark. Subsequent adjustments can make you postpone your strike at infinitum. Artillery you organize your echelon. Mortars at the front, (which can be used in direct fire mode) heavy stuff on your objectives. With all respect on Veteran you have a very unrealistic scenario. Like hunting for cows in the paddock. My opinion only.
  13. I understand independently in the game the pilot can only detect AFV's but can't tell friend from foe if there is not an observer nearby. Anything else a unit with a 'laser designator' is the best to coordinate attacks on the ground.
  14. Thanks you guys for stopping by and good to see you enjoyed it.
  15. We need more people to inform players the benefits of playing Iron. Battle of Normandy the tutorial campaign. You start with a platoon and three trucks. Here is what you can do on Iron. Make one squad Red Force and the other two squads Blue Force. Red Force takes positions in the farm complex. Blue Force approaching the farm complex. The trucks can function as AFV's. On Iron you need to spot your own troops. This is an excellent tool to learn about spotting. A squad inside a building on hide will remain invisible. Sending scouts for example is a suicide mission. Give it a go this tutorial is an eyeopener as a little testing exercise for spotting.
  16. Thanks to you all I just save every turn for a while to make sure it is not BF it is a Windows 11 thing.
  17. I had a few times that Red Thunder crashed on me. Tonight I checked the updates (This is recommended by Microsoft as they are aware of some Apps crashing). I play it safe and save every turn. Wonder or anybody else is having problems.
  18. Long time since I had this issue. It depends on your location of all places I had one of my early downloads coming from China. I don't think they use this option any longer.
  19. Take the bombardment of Rotterdam as an example. (The Germans regarded the Luftwaffe as a form of artillery.) Their excuse was that the pilots didn't see the flares from the ground forces. The proper protocol should have been using a flare for the final go-ahead of the mission. Using this principle makes for a realistic scenario. You can plan missions and the ground forces having the final say. The FO should be in visual contact with a company HQ who has contact with his platoons.
  20. The longer your spy stays alive the more tentative units your HQ receives. The human mind is very inventive, like a street busker playing something special.
  21. Coded messages via public broadcasters was the method. Dot Dot Dot Dash or Beethoven's Fifth Symphony was the sign for occupied Europe followed by a coded message. Agents trained in radio communications taught the local resistance.
