My god if those casualty figures are accurate then Russia will reach US Korean War casualties before the summer. That took more than three years to get that high even with the meatgrinders at Taejon, the Naktong River, and Chosin.

If you don’t have someone on the mission who speaks the language then you are SOL. There’s other things you can do but I can’t really say what.
-
Yeah, I’m playing a PBEM right now on a huge map trying to cut a highway as the Russians. My opponent is playing as Ukraine and I’m having a hard time advancing even against Spigots.

Farmers are still finding UXO in northern France from WW1.

Nah, they weren’t OPFOR vics. It was the the maneuver dudes in my own brigade using them. It was a Stryker BCT and I had never seen them being used before so I was a little bit confused.
-
Regarding the M113, I was at NTC with my brigade last summer and saw a ton of them rolling around the desert. I assume they were part of Fort Irwin’s prepo fleet. Never saw them at my home base.

The LT I yelled at went and told the range OIC what I said to him after he got off the range. The OIC pulled me aside later and said “you were right to correct 1LT Snuffy but maybe next time use a bit more tact, SGT.”

I actually did this a couple years ago in Korea. Didn’t throw brass at the LT and I was only an E5 but I chewed him out pretty good.

Found the full translation of that RIA Novosti piece. It is some dark stuff man. https://medium.com/@kravchenko_mm/what-should-russia-do-with-ukraine-translation-of-a-propaganda-article-by-a-russian-journalist-a3e92e3cb64

Man, you just believe everything you read on the internet don’t you?

As a former US Army SIGINTer this news got me salivating.
-
The highest ranking officer the US lost in the last 20 years of war was Major General Harold Greene who was killed by an insider attack in Afghanistan in 2014.

About ten years ago I went to the US military’s Defense Language Institute and learned Korean. The events of the last couple weeks has me regretting that I didn’t choose Russian.

Lol sure Jan.

I am also seeing this problem.

Looking for a PBEM opponent

I'll play you in a scenario if you are still looking. -
NATO module; why I think the dutch should be in.
Bearstronaut replied to Aragorn2002's topic in Combat Mission Cold War
I don't think it would effect somebody's combat effectiveness or anything. It's just gross. -

Yeah I couldn't imagine going out in the field with long hair. Everytime I went on a big training exercise like NTC I shaved my hair to the scalp the day before I left. I always felt bad for the women in my unit who had to deal with their gross hair while out in the field. -

When I was a PFC at the US military language school 12 years ago there was a Danish officer I knew who looked like Brock Samson from the Venture Brothers cartoon. I posted an image if you've never seen the show (which is hilarious BTW). Dude was an absolute badass and we all knew it. There was also an American Green Beret warrant officer who used to go to the coffee shop around the same time I did everyday who had a permanent 5 o'clock shadow and longish hair that was completely out of regulation. Nobody said **** to him about it. -
When we're talking about the 1st SS Panzer Division, yes we do. The Waffen SS was an integral part of the Nazis' racist and genocidal warmongering. I am deeply, deeply suspicious of anyone who makes a hobby of dressing up like these guys (especially if you are an American, which this guy's accent tells me he is). The Military History Visualized guy has made dozens of videos about the WW2 German military but never felt the need to dress up as an SS soldier while doing so.

2022, the Year In Preview!
Bearstronaut replied to Battlefront.com's topic in Combat Mission - General Discussion
If you are still unsure of what to focus on for the CMFI battle pack may I make a suggestion? I would like to see it focused on some of the Allied nations who aren't very well represented. Most of the game's stock scenarios are either the US or British armies. The Brazilians, French, Canadians, and Indians only have 2 each I believe. The New Zealanders only have one (very small) scenario. I would love for the focus to be on these guys. Other than that, thanks for making a great product and providing me with hours of entertainment. -
Geo-Strategic Crisis Over Ukraine Happening Now?
Bearstronaut replied to John Kettler's topic in General Discussion Forum
That is all incredibly wrong. Ukraine isn't massing for an attack of the eastern territories and Crimea which were illegally stolen from them in 2014 by the original Russian invasion. Russia has gathered over 100,000 soldiers on the border and are the ones who initiated and continued this crisis. -
New Campaign Released: First into Antwerp
Bearstronaut replied to rtdood's topic in CM Normandy Maps and Mods
Yeah, I’ve already replayed it and progressed in the campaign. I hunted down the German HQ and got enough points to win. First time I played it I just secured the park and didn’t advance any further. I’m really enjoying the campaign BTW.
