  1. Very sad story, my neighbor was 17, nearly no training, sent to kill tanks with Panzerschreck. The Leaping Horseman, 24th Panzerdivision, did not read that book, but the official history of that Division. My uncle served with it and was flown out of Stalingrad wounded. He survived, my grandfather was MIA when in the same Division in 45. So it has some meaning to me. Back to topic...
  2. Ahm..., Heinrich505, a neighbor of mine reported precisely an incident like that in 1945, the poor guy behind the weapon was badly burned and died later. +1 to the screenshots, they look much better now. In addition, I have the impression that the shadows are less intensive now, which is perfectly right. I just have that diffuse and foggy kind of winter lighting here - no noticeable shadows from trees, houses or fenceposts. Just bushes and vehicles have a diffuse shadow directly underneath. But it might be too much effort to tweak all this in relation to the lighting - and shadows are always helpful to determine the depth of an object in the scene.
  3. There are some museums showing tanks in Germany, unfortunately not at the Berlin area: Panzermuseum Munster; the place to be, cradle of the German Panzerwaffe Panzermuseum MunsterMilitärhistorisches Museum der Bundeswehr in Dresden, not so far away, no info on quality http://www.mhmbundeswehr.de/Auto und Technikmuseum Sinsheim, in southern GermanyWehrtechnische Studiensammlung Koblenz , some tanks, interesting prototypes, though.Whish you a nice time here.
  4. +1, still standing at the sideline watching and enjoying it. Go Baneman, go! At least you got the nicer vehicles. Thanks to MikeyD, great work.
  5. Brilliantly composed and interesting pictures, great storytelling, and not to forget a great game from BFC. I often eagerly awaited the continuation of the story. Thank you Bud and Ian. Best wishes for your wife, Bud.
  6. There is a minor bug visible in this video at 1:55:00. When the camera is low, some icons turn the forest behind transparent, so the sky is visible there instead of the icon content. Maybe it is known already, just in case. Great presentation, I am deeply impressed by the awsome texture work visible - the uniforms, the trees, vehicle details, and the houses. all great. Up to now, I bought CM because it is a fine simulation, but more and more I love the visuals and often enjoy just repeating some impressive in game footage. @‌LukeFF: he announced an extension to CM:FI, more nations, i.e. Brazilians, New Zealanders, and some more. I think more scenarios, also.
  7. ChrisND, I just finished watching the YouTube Video of your last show. Awesome work from BFC and a fine presentation. Now I cannot wait for Sunday evening - could you show a Jagdpanther or even use some in a QB? I think it is the most efficient tank destroyer and a lovely machine.
  8. What are these guys in the Sturmtigers doing? Playing Skat or eating Erbsensuppe while their support is urgently needed? Even near misses or just kicking up smoke and debris by area fire would be helpful.
  9. MikeyD: If you're interested in art you'll only find the 'cool' late war German camou in CMFB. I had joked earlier that I've been waiting for five years for 'late war' to finally arrive! I totally agree, there were so many interesting camo patterns and I cannot wait to see them in CMFB. Great work! With your Hetzer I had a deja vu and looked it up in a book of Jean Restayn, very similar. There is even a Jagdpanther with a strange square shaped Zimmerit coating.
  10. This is one of the typical scenes you replay from different angles and just watch - one of the reasons I love this game for. Seems like the battle is taking up steam now. Hurraaaa!
  11. Thank you Bil and Baneman for this really exciting AAR. As most here I first thought Baneman will never win this, but it was like often in real life, the unexpected happend. But what do we do now until this game is released?
  12. I love these hovering arrows and position markers, looks really professional now. Maybe you could start a second career at Osprey Publishing.
  13. Bud_B, in this case I regret it to be right with my guess, Lt. Lawrence seemed to be a capable leader and good narrator. I appreciate to have one of your pictures dedicated to me, thanks.
  14. Best whishes to your wife Bud_B, I hope she will recover soon. @‌ Baneman: I think this was the tall house where the CO was located. Seems like the XO now has an opportunity to display his superior leadership.
  15. You would like to see terrain contours? Here they are: http://opentopomap.org/#map=15/50.05810/5.74651 By the way, I am absolutely excited to see this new game and the DAR - thanks.
  16. Thanks, CarlWAW, did not know that, lot to learn here besides tactics.
  17. Wow, looking great. I like the look- sometimes like a photo or even nicer than real life. But I agree to GeorgeMC, the shadows are too dark. It is something disturbing me since CMBN. On a sunny day, there is a lot of scattered light, also. This brightens surfaces in the shadow allowing details to be seen. I just happen to be in Abu Dhabi, bright sunlight and I can see each detail on such surfaces. At your first post here, 4th picture, the dark halftrack in front of the dark house is nearly invisible. I know that shadows are used tactically to avoid to be seen, but this is too much - just my opinion. Keep on going...
  18. Since some time I am reading this forum with much interest and play CM since the CMBO days. This is the most informative thread so far and I have deep respect for the knowledge displayed here. Thank you all. Concerning terrain VL I think, that a scenario can be set up and played like a chess game (CMFI has some), but for me, there is much more fun, when a good briefing gives it an operational context and a PURPOSE and that perfectly fits to a terrain objective. Imagine, your battalion has the order to block a road to close a huge pocket filled with enemy forces. The objective is not to neutralize the last enemy formation between you and the road, rather to find a bypass or an efficient way through this formation. The objective is the road in operational context. I enjoy objectives with purpose. Henning
