My units are terrified of beeing LASED!
Bennay replied to GEN Moore's topic in Combat Mission Black Sea
normally i would sadly in the first US operation you have a choice between going head to head with BMP's or T72's only 30 minutes to complete several objectives and destroy a company plus my tanks ended up winning the shootout just took an extra turn and some yelling on part to get their asses in gear lol -
My units are terrified of beeing LASED!
Bennay replied to GEN Moore's topic in Combat Mission Black Sea
i think there needs to be a balance here like if i sent my tanks on a hunt order around a corner where i know there is going to contacts i need them to destroy and a BMP lases one he pops smoke well now i have no LOS and either need to move further forward (defeating the purpose as making them more exposed) or wait like five turns for the smoke to dissipate this really drives me crazy. -
Why are off map reinforcements a thing?
Bennay replied to Spitzenhund's topic in Combat Mission Black Sea
i am wondering if it was mentioned in the briefing a lot of people i have sen in videos seam to skip over reading this and miss key parts of the battle the tactical map is just an overview and should not be used as briefing that being said i think map size is a big part of why this happens -

my general rule with entrenched targets is if you cant achieve fire superiority by direct fire before you assault them then its not worth it and you should just flatten them with mortars or the like if possible, the hardest part is when the missions built in a way that it forces you to take loses and coming to grips with that.
-
also a "Target light briefly" would help in those CQC situations

Please guys...Fire your rockets !
Bennay replied to Glubokii Boy's topic in Combat Mission Black Sea
are we talking about the RPO or the RPOM my stand alone RPOM teams seam to fire at targets fine even if it means pinning them selves in building -
yeah a cold war gone hot CM is my dream late 80's show down
-
Please guys...Fire your rockets !
Bennay replied to Glubokii Boy's topic in Combat Mission Black Sea
yeah i have seen it from time to time it seams a lot less common then in shock force, where they would fire rockets like right away and sometimes even when moving on an assault order. -
Please guys...Fire your rockets !
Bennay replied to Glubokii Boy's topic in Combat Mission Black Sea
on the Russian side they have purpose made rockets for the RPG-7 and the RPO launchers i think the US not using their AT-4's is to prevent a unit from expending all of its AT assets on the first building with contact in it. In the high armour threat environment this war is taking place in one could expect they would be saved for armored targets. -
BRM-3K combat reconnaissance vehicle
Bennay replied to Marwek77 aka Red Reporter's topic in Combat Mission Black Sea
well playing a quick battle i noticed my BRM-3K could spot a tank past a line of trees that was a LOS blocker (could not "T" target the area) i was able to set up an ambush on the tank with my tank hunter, not really a scientific test but worth mention. i should add this was hard spot i could "see" the tank not soft spot with "sound" markers -
What is the best way to assess weapon range (not just "T"-line)?
Bennay replied to Bahger's topic in Combat Mission Black Sea
the manual tells you the effective ranges of the infantry weapons starting on page 85 for the US weapons edit: the tripod TOW has a range of 200-5200 meters according to the manual -
you would also have to train more people on those multiple functions and supply the ammo/ produce it in different calibers

The TOW-2 Ball-n-chain // abandoning heavy weapons?
Bennay replied to Col Rosenberger's topic in Combat Mission Black Sea
i would support a "scuttle" function where they would destroy the weapon before running away. -
The TOW-2 Ball-n-chain // abandoning heavy weapons?
Bennay replied to Col Rosenberger's topic in Combat Mission Black Sea
i don't think abandoning equipment is a sound military idea. just my two cents though -
plaingy this mission as the defenders is just as fun i just finished a brutal round came down to both sides throwing frags and point plank shoot outs great mission with replay value
-
cool it looks like the round went in the open back doors and bounced around hitting something that went boom
-
would something like a tactical ballistic missile i.e SS-26 (first google search) work as point strike weapon in the scale of combat mission? On the blue side you could have M270 MLRS with guided weapons and the OTR-21
-
thanks i had no clue HEAT rounds are so much slower
-
i thought size played a part as well? edit: also i am trying to find what HEAT shell the oplot fires
-
i had same experience with 40mm HEDP from a mk.19 and 125mm HEAT shells from a oplot i think it might be a bug
