  1. Actually it will be more protected then the T-90AM series its just less armor weight will be put to the turret because it has less volume. The hull will gain more armor protection by alot actually, I also read a article that new ERA is being used which is more capable then Relict. Although I am assuming this is real since it makes sense, No one really knows much about the Armata.
  2. You know it really would be more easy and satisfying without the M1A2s
  3. Interesting article, Although I think Ukraine had the capability to do this type of training on its own. I guess Poroshenko really wants US cooperation in Ukraine. I hope the war just finishes and all this bloodshed ends.
  4. Also read on a few Russian military forums that, T-72B3Ms (or in simple terms B4) will be being bought in the coming years and this has been stated by Russias MoD even last year. The T-90M (proriv) (basically T-90AM) I'm assuming will be using some of T-14s technologies which will vastly increase its capabilities. At the 2015 army exhibition it was said T-90As will be upgraded to this level. I can find links but they'll be in Russian if any of you are interested.
  5. About the T-80 being hit by RPG-7 22 times, I honestly think that is bullcrap.... Unless most rounds hit the thickest turret parts ect.. ect.. It sounds very fake. But I will tell you that what tankers went through in Chechnya is very sad (1st chechen war) ERA blocks not put on, Familiarization of plans was bad. Lacked maps. Lacked proper support, and worst of all went into a total urban environment where terrorists would hide in basements and rooftops and cluster RPG from all directions. Russian tankers are brave (sorry some Russkii opinion) if you ask me. Where as Americans had full support full training better experience (longer service but of course these are good things) overall they were superior to Russian tankers of that time, Still is in some areas. Quick what would you do for people on this forum, Imagine you are a tank commander and your cannon wont depress low enough to take out a RPG squad, You are being bombarded by shells, Your infantry support cant come to you because they're experiencing the same problems. You're 12.7 HMG is destroyed, You're air support wont come in, Artillery support is too risky... That was hell. 2nd Chechen war came along with extremely better results, Tanks were used in full support, Better training, Maps, Air support fully available. This led to about 2-10 tanks lost in whole war (from memory possible for more)
  6. No one knows the layout of the T-90A yet assumes that it is weaker then Abrams, T-90As were made in 2000s from scratch not from "soviet armor" and T-90AMs would be made even later with better materials and with the Relikt ERA. I haven't been able to get this game yet but will very soon hopefully, And I want to see if it really is as how people say it is. Sucks how Armata cant be modeled in game... But would be cool if to make up for it the T-90AMs were gaven the Grifel Apfsds, Plus advantages of 2A82 cannon.
  7. Lol comes from the guy who said Putin nuked Ukraine and threw nerve gas in there as well, And I even remember reading Putin threw in 1000 T-90s might as well state a company of M1 Abrams (105mm version) destroyed the 1000 T-90s and Putin retreated. You have to stop posting irrelevant stuff on here... Gets real annoying... I recommend you go to F-16.net.
  8. Panzersaurkrautwerfer from my knowledge the Catherine-FC that Russia uses is made specially for Russian standards, The M1A2 SEP V2 may have a better thermal but I have a friend who has recently discharged from the army, And he has experience with the Catherine-FC on the T-72B3 model, He states that in good normal conditions during the day, The thermal can see individual blades of grass at 2KM. I have yet to ask him how is his standard engagement procedures and how to deal with long range targets, Although if you ask me I think thats enough for engagement ranges of 2-3 KM, I am hoping to get a detailed explanation from him about how the thermal is what he thinks about it and ect, I'll share it on here if he does.
  9. http://www.defensa.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=10414:-buenos-resultados-de-las-pruebas-operacionales-y-de-tiro-en-peru-del-tanque-ruso-t-90s&catid=55:latinoamerica&Itemid=163 Spanish trials of the T-90S and you can question all you want I am not the one who believes the T-90A is a god, I know good as well that the M1A2 Abrams can destroy the T-90A just as the T-90A can destroy the Abrams. And not providing sources for all your claims is not expert. No offence to you by the way, I am in no way wanting to insult you.
  10. LOL at panzersaurkrautwerfer's post, You are telling me that at a open field 2-3KM away with 14X zoom with a thermal the Catherine-FC cannot identify a M1A2? It is reasons such as this I will not reply to your posts regarding the T-90. I guess the T-90A is meant to fight tanks at lower then 2KM when it has a ATGM with proven accuracy of 100% to 3 to 5 KM.
  11. Not going into argument on T-90 capabilities because I'll cut some slack, Its a few levels below F16.net claims. Wiggum15, I can tell you what Russian soldiers go through, And how a average german soldier who has seen training would not even think about having in his training. Beatings are normal just because you see a video made towards the public, And even for possible new recruits doesn't mean that's the real thing. 4 or 5 different uniforms in the same unit is bullcrap maybe 2 different uniforms in a company and that's a few troops and thats their choice not because there is a shortage. Guys that were in Crimea is what is becoming standard if not already. Copy and paste this onto youtube search box дисбат. If you would like to know more in depth detail about training of Russian infantry or Russian airborne troops (VDV) I'll more then gladly tell you. And furthermore I read that Russian tankists are less trained then their western counterparts, That is true for 1990s-2010. Now they even have tank simulation on computers for training of tank crews. Compare the T-90A to the M1A2 SEP not the T-90 from 1993 and old electronics. I'll even agree with you that the baseline T-90 lags behind the M1A2, Leopard 2A6 in many factors. But the T-90A which in 2005 started being bought in bulk with newer electronics, FCS ect, ect, One thing I'll agree is currently Russian tanks does not have a KE round such as the M829A3 or the DM63, although at or under 2KM it will be adequate, At ranges such as 2.7-3KM a M829A3 has to drop to atleast 730MM penetration as its penetration at 2KM is 780-800mm of armor, While BM-42M would be well below 650mm at that rage. But the T-90A is capable to fire the Invar-M ATGM or the Refleks-M, While the Refleks-M is 750mm the Invar-M is 850mm. Which if you ask me gives a huge advantage at range to the T-90A. And I do not want to start on the T-90AM which is even better then the T-90A. Although not in service it can be soon.
  12. Without getting into too much argument, S-400, S-300, S-350, Tunguska-Ms, TOR-M2U, Pantsir-S1, BUK-M3, advanced radar stations, Kilo submarines, Black sea fleet, KH-35 coastal systems, Oniks, Brahmos and many more assets including the air force I think you get what im saying, To say that NATO would risk sending that much lives against a scenario such as that is very ignorant. NATO is smart... it will operate through western Ukraine, Making Russia defensive is not a smart idea. Now please as I know a lot of you guys are Americans, Do not get offended by the weapon systems I've listed. Im just writing against the ignorance of some users on here stating NATO would have no problem through moving in a fleet where the opposing country has already planned for situations such as this, And does large scale drills practicing it, Not only that has full support of its country's armed forces. Although for game wise why not put in the USMC
  13. VDV would be used in 3 types of ways in a war like this, 1) To get to a area first and hold and secure it before bulk of force will arrive, 2) Escorted by SEAD aircraft will land in a area and take out logistics, and Artillery batteries, And support ect, ect. 3) together with the bulk of the motorized forces will attack together with frontline units. VDV can be assigned tanks too but not for roles such as 1 and 2. Imagine it like this, VDV is given the objective to get to a strategic area and used as a behind enemy lines asset and they will be used in surprise can compare to a blitzkrieg, SU-34s and other SEAD aircraft will be used and troops in BMDs and mortar support also btr-mds coming with their respective AA support like Verba for example, They make it to the objective and attack enemy from the rear while also making a defense for the main force for when they arrive. And now you already have a successful front, Now you can assign tanks and attack choppers to the VDV and they can work in combined arms strategy.
  14. LOL typo on my part, Don't have an idea where Afghanistan came from.
  15. Yes it'll be shown sometime on 26th or 27th of this month, Although will be in covered in camo that will not make it be able to seen in true figure thats for may 9th. Im so excited can't wait, been waiting for a few years actually lol
  16. T-72B4 is being bought this year, I hope they upgrade B3s to B4 status, B4 is also known as B3M
  17. Afghanistan APS actually has a design criteria to take out top attack missiles such as the Javelin, Will be installed on Armata series not sure on what scale.
  18. I would have replied to this in more detail but honestly I will spare the time and not, What I will say is that if you havent been there and seen it with your eyes then you don't know whats going on, As it will be filtered through your screens. I've been there but I have no way of proving it to you so you might as well take it with a grain of salt, But what Im trying to say is if you have not been there and if you think what your news tells you is real, then you are not a person to argue with. I get offended by posts like this as it is disrespectful and ignorant, You have no clue what is going on in Ukraine nor will you ever be close to. If you seen the women and children crying there in person you would not be talking this way.
  19. Possibly posted in wrong thread, Didn't someone say that "Obviously Russians wont follow ROE"? I mean that is pretty much saying Russians will murder, Because ROE limits those.
  20. Searching on tank-net I have found results from Peru T-90S trials, - First day it was really foggy and rainy. 1G46 could only operate to 300-350 meters. By using the thermal sight, shots were fired at targets 2.000-2.500 meters away. - The next 2 days climate conditions were optimal and gunnery tests were performed. T-90S fired on the move and statically. 38 125mm rounds were fired. 16 BM17, 12 BK16 and 10 OF36. Distance was 1.600-3.000 meters. The sucess rate was 94.7%. - PKMT and Kord machine guns were also tested by firing 600 rounds. The success rate was 75%. AT-11 Sniper missiles were fired at targets 3.000-5.000 meters away with 100% success rate. http://www.defensa.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=10414:-buenos-resultados-de-las-pruebas-operacionales-y-de-tiro-en-peru-del-tanque-ruso-t-90s&catid=55:latinoamerica&Itemid=163 I think this proves the T-90 is quite capable.
  21. Russian ROE is to shoot any non-Russians comrades!(sarcasm) In all reality Russia would have the strictest ROE at a strategic scale, But our soldiers are educated enough and in drills instead of destroying a whole area with mortars we were sent in with orders to take out enemies and retrieve any civilians. If you ask me if they teach us this in drills I think that shows a level of dignity. So please stop with this stereotype that Russians are "evil murderous" people. Ukraine's ROE would depend on where they're fighting if its in Donetsk, Russia will have disadvantage as artillery would be limited, But Ukraine can shell with 220mm rockets with no fear because 1.) Population is against them plus media will be in their advantage with the U.S. supporting them 2.)Rebels are there. But if it is in lets say for example purposes Kiev, Then Ukraine will still have the advantage as Russia cannot use heavy artillery onto city and towns, Although if Ukraine makes the mistake of announcing a evacuated city or Russian units realize town is evacuated then they loose an advantage.
  22. I see what you were trying to say now, Thing is Russian tanks do not get sent without support of other units this is a big fail if done. Russian tanks will be sent forward with recon units and ATGM teams and other assets, Plus the battle management system will provide this info, Im sure the Abrams will have its recon bradley units too. On a 1V1 if its flat terrain good vibility it all depends on range closer the Abrams is the more likely it will win, The farther the more likely the T-90 will win because of its ATGM even if it does not penetrate it will take out possibly the gun or sights. Same for any other situation, It all depends on who will get the round off, And I agree the Abrams will have the advantage of identifying the Russian tank first but if we are talking about a 1V1 it will not matter because both will know they are enemies.
