This is probably the best advice anyone can offer in any CM game. I have found in the short time I have been playing, if I rush a move, my guys pay dearly for it.

Thanks for the response, Steiner. My question wasn't really about opinions, though the last query may have pointed in that direction.
Expensive pillboxes they are, and the only problem really is for the poor squads that have to hoof it around the map, though I suppose one (M2A3) could be spared as a shuttle.
Interesting that you mention engineers roles, as one of the grumbles I had with the initial deployment in Cry Havoc mission was the inability for my Bradley's to ford the river to the west. Mobile bridges would be sweet!

I didn't play Arma 2 much, but I spent a few months really trying to make the Iron Front A2 mod package (meaning IF imported into A2 and fully updated with added realism mods post import) do what CM does as a SP experience. I spent a lot of time in the editor setting up formations and defenses and running games as close to playing in a CM style as I could.

It ain't even close, folks. At first, I really thought I was on to something, but eventually, I found so many holes it wasn't even funny and gave up.

I lost my taste for Arma/IF after that.

You can get an incredible first-person experience out of it, but you have to accept it for what it is. It is in no way in the same league as CM for a full-spectrum, realistic battlefield sim experience. And the modelling of hits/vehicle damage, ballistics, and arty is far superior in CM.

I will check the standard versions of roads and buildings, didn't do that properly.

    Kieme CMBS BRM-1k-PRP UA

These two vehicles were slightly changed in color to match the BMP-2 mod.
UA vehicles almost done, UAZ and Ural are the next ones.

Looks like the shrinking made all Alpha channels disappear. Sorry for the inconvenience, I should have checked the files.

I have corrected the roads, re-uploaded the standard version here:

The buildings are on hold, will take more time to work them out, although I didn't check them.

Let me know if you find other problems please.

MarcM reacted to c3k in Video Card upgrade for Shaders to work - Recommendations?
GTX960 is aimed squarely at 1080p gaming. A lot of reviews out there. Most games play at decent rates with some eyecandy enabled. (You won't get 60 fps with every slider at "ultra".) It's a solid midlevel card.

The GTX970 is a much bigger jump in capability (despite the hue and cry about 3.5gb + .5gb segmented memory). But, it will crush every game at 1080p.

In that case I agree with c3k, GTX 970 is best bang for buck at the moment, and overclocks well and safely should you feel inclined.  Some brands offer out-of-the-box overclocked cards that will bring performance not far short of a 980.

Having said all that, a 970 performs barely differently to a 680, maybe just a bit more future proofed if any developers start using the new anti aliasing technique [MFAA].  There are lots of good, used, 680s on eBay (including mine   )
