  1. Btw.. The XM-25 is an effective BTR killer when shooting at the side armor.. But dont try the front unless you want to lose a whole squad to a 30mm burst
  2. There's more to ground warfare than tank on tank combat .. It would even be not that common especially in european terrain
  3. So those two guys would benefit for spotting not to mention an accuracy bonus. But the leader and assistant already have binocs so I guess it would only be for the accuracy bonus
  4. As for angles. It goes as far as If you face an Abrams full on at the same elevation , you won't be able to penetrate the two left and right slabs on the front turret (960mm of armor) .. But if you are a little sideways to the left or right of the tank or from higher ground, you can penetrate it with the Russian 125mm at 800-1000 meters (I,ve seen it) because you negate the sloped armor effect adding to the thickness of the armor (by as much as 250mm, which gives you real thickness of 700mm when hitting it at 90 degrees, which the svinets-2 round the Russian tanks use can penetrate easily). That's the amount of detail that's in the game.
  5. I shot at Abrams with RPGs and got full penetrations knocking out the tank but with whole crew exiting uninjured many times.. Only to be mowed down by nearby infantry.. The same RPGs against soviet- ukrainian tanks and BOUM !
  6. I've read a bit about what constitutes the standard Disposable anti-tank rocket for the russian motor-rifle troops. It's the RPG-26 because it is small and light. However, the RPG-27 was adopted to supplement it and packs a 105mm tandem warhead, I wonder if it would be made available as a resupply item in BTRs and BMPs (or ammo trucks) so you may acquire it . It is heavier and bulkier so you may have a weight penalty for the troops (not as heavy as the Javelin though). It would give russian infantry more punch and is not un-realistic. I also believe the RPG-28 (1000m+ of penetration) is also available but maybe only for the VDV, ALso, from what was said here in the forums, both the squad leader and his assistant have scopes much like they are the only ones with radios. Maybe in a next patch.
  7. Which catalyst driver works best with black sea ?
  8. they dont say when.. I had one t-90 with the gun destroyed (the HQ one) so I removed him from the fight to keep the HQ link alive and another T-90 was destroyed by a frontal hit by a SKIF on the front upper hull. This was my last surviving tank and I got unlucky. Then my troops were in middle of the field with the BMPs and their only protection was that tank. BMPs caught moving in the open by tanks are easy meat. Those Bulat tanks were veteran also. The next attempt at this scenrario was much more successful. I restarted the game just before the first T-90A was killed by the SKIF. I did the exact same thing but managed to micro-manage my tanks enough to avoid the SKIF kill (popped smoke manually and went hull down so only the turret was exposed, the SKIF cant penetrate the turret frontally) so I had two tanks left to face the Bulats. They destroyed them easily and the rest was just mopping up.
  9. the engine was designed for world war II combat unfortunately. This is how they make their money. Doing modern is not really their primary mission but it does have an appeal. They have done very well with the engine they have. If they weren't making a foray into modern there would be no game like Black sea available on the market. There must be some unforeseen technical issues for placing a spotter on the radar/sensor mast as a workaround. Unforeseen consequences which we cannot anticipate since we dont know everything about the game mechanics. Heck, we dont even know what data numbers they are using for the modern stuff. I would very much like this to be fixed but it just doesnt seem possible with this game engine. They are a very small company and they must be really careful, a big business mistake and it's so long battlefront. World War II wargames are very niche and when you're a company that caters to a niche customer base you stick to it or else you do it at your own peril.
  10. So it seems I lost two dice rolls in a row.. The bulat detected and shot me first (low probability of that happening according to battles I simulated T-90a vs bulat, usually ends 6-1 for the t-90a with only one hit from a bulat and that at 500 meters !) AND kontakt-5 failed the dice roll OR it hit somewhere not protected on the upper hull front (the hit decal is over a protected area though). That's really bad luck !
  11. How does reactive armor acts in the game against long rods ? Is it stopping/no stopping binary effect or does it decrease by a % the penetrative power of the projectile ?
  12. I replayed the battle by doing the same thing (not cheating) but micro-managing more and I won a total victory. 18 dead 8 wounded.. 3 BMP-3s and 1 MTLB destroyed
  13. *SPOILER ALERT* i'm very unlucky in my games, LOL this should not happen, getting my ass kicked in gargarina checkpoint as the russians and rage quit ! The tank then proceeded to massacre my troops crossing the open field.. I decided to attack just as the ukrainian tanks arrived.
  14. I will send you the test scenario as a personal message.
  15. On the other hand.. 4 of them killed three m1A2s (but they all died too) at 500-600 meters in my last game. Including one poor m1a2 who had both the front upper hull and the top turret penetrated by two missiles in quick succession. It exploded no survivors.
  16. Another thing . I have 3 khriz in hull down positions on a hill overlooking 4 km of flat terrain. There's a company of 14 m1a2s 4 km away. The khriz detects them and start firing. They fired 45 missiles in 10 mins. They were not detected but NONE of the missiles hit. Not duds, they simply fly away widly. I ran this test scenario many times. I think this is a bug
  17. Can the kryzanthema target two tanks at the same time ? It can do that un réal life
  18. Under 100 meters yes happenrd two or three times
  19. Front upper Hull for javelin direct fire mode: All the time except for the AM where relikt stops it. So protection must not be better than 600mm against HEAt. Older soviet missiles are stopped by kontakt-5 .. Not an issue
  20. Front upper Hull for javelin direct fire mode: All the time except for the AM where relikt stops it. Older soviet missiles are stopped by kontakt-5 .. Not an issue
  21. Battlesight firing without lasing at ranges under 1000 meters would greatly help the russian tanks.
  22. US has about 500 Abrams upgraded to M1A2 SEP v2 and another 600 to M1A2 SEP v1. The rest are older versions or in reserve. According to wikipedia
  23. I m playing cry havoc as the US and it isnt so much "murica" but more like "OMFG .. This is a carnage ! We must stop this insanity before we lose the whole expeditionary army ! " LOL
