  1. Thank you very much. sburke, i sent you the savegame. here is another screenshot of the tires where it is more obvious than in the first one i posted: http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/8377/tiresbug2.jpg
  2. Stupid question: where are the CMFI savegames located? I cant find them at Game Files/Saved Games (where i would expect them as they are located there in Normandy) because there is no Game Files file.
  3. I dont have a savegame for that specific situation i took the screenshot from, but i will try to reproduce the bug (and probably suceed, that problem occurs often) and then save from a point of view from wich you should be able to see it. However reloading the game usually returns the tires to turning around the correct axis, so i think this might be a problem that only occurs on certain systems. Maybe it depends on the videodrivers or something like that. Exactly. And if you zoom out again, the tires start spinning around the Z axis. Edit: Note the -2 Leadershipmodifier.
  4. If you take a look at the armored car that is left to the one i have selected and then take a closer look at its tires, you will note that they are in an absolutely weird position that was probably not intended to be that way. Those are not shadows and the AB41 has its steering wheel on the front (you are seeing the vehicle from behind). The tires (all 4) actually even turn around the Z axis during movement. Has anyone else ever observed such strange behaviour?
  5. Clearing the Niscemi Highway as attacker is pretty easy if you dont mind to much about taking casualties. You have ~2,5:1 numerical superiority in infantry and 3,25 numerical superiority in tanks as axis player.
  6. For me, the upgrayedd increased the performance in large to huge battles noteably.
  7. I hope that in CM:Eastern Front the german supply will contain HEAT rounds for their Pz IV F,G,H and such. Thinking of the T 34s sloped armor, using a round that ist prone to riccochtes is probably an important tactical considration. BTW you should try the german Stummel Sdkfz in the defensive AT role, if you havent done so already. At short to medium ranges (you need a first hit on the target, given the Stummels absence of armor) the 8 HEAT rounds of its 75mm gun will kill most allied tanks (86mm penetration). I use it in ambushs when defending a lot, one time i had a Stummel kill at 5 advancing Shemans/Stuarts through a hole in the bocage before it had to retreat due to having used up all its AT ammo.
  8. A Churchill with its 152mm frontal armor plate could be penetrated by the Tiger IIs 88mm KwK 43 at 1000 meters with the PzGr 39/43 under ideal circumstances (90 degrees impact angle), 2000 meters with the PzGr 40. The Tiger Is (shorter) 88 would not be able to penetarte the Churchill frontally at all with the standard APCBC PzGr 39. Using the rare APCR PzGr 40, it would be able to kill the Churchill frontally at 500m and below. The Sherman, however, could be penetrated with the standard PzGr 39 at 2000m, given ideal circumstances. At that range hit propability was way below 50% under combat circumstances but at 1200 meters it was still around 90.
  9. I tried Marco Bergmans excellent UI mod in the past days. http://i52.tinypic.com/1yux5i.png That is exactly that kind of info/tool (the silhouetts with the numbers) i meant when i asked for the encyclopedia. To all of those who said that these numbers do not represent the actual penetration/armor values in every situation that might occur in the game: i know that, but still these numbers give you a quite good idea of what your vehicle is capable of and what not.
  10. yeah that s one of the greatest things of CMx2 games - the Repository is full of cool stuff!
  11. Well there is worse than sarcasm. I know adults who laugh at their own farts.
  12. The gun and sights of the Tiger I would allow the gunner to egage tank sized targets at 1200 meters with an almost 100% first hit propability. According to the Tigerfibel, misses at 1200 and below were always considered the gunners fault.
  13. AFAIK There IS friendly fire...go play a night engagemenmt, it will happen more often there i think.
  14. On all levels below veteran, spotting info is instantaniously shared between friendly forces (borg spotting). On all level including veteran and above, info takes a realistic amount of time as it is shared up and down the chain of command. On warrior level and above, spotting friendlies works the same way. I think this is most obvious in tank engagements. If for example the HQ unit of a tank platoon spots a contact first, it s subordinate tanks will sometimes turn their turrets towards the new contact and thus spot it faster. That works the same way with inf afaik. When you leap frog tanks forward, you can alway keep the HQ tank in the overwatch element and have the commander open the hatch and observe the surroundings (not recommended in close proximity to infantry, though). for maximum realism, keep the camera locked to the CO unit for the entire game.
  15. I am pretty sure that small arms fire in CMBN hitting trees or bocage can produce a small flash when the bullets are not deflected but stopped. However it will also produce said puffs of dirt when it hits the ground.
  16. I laughed so hard when i saw the video . Kinda reminded me of Monthy Python:
  17. http://vvvvw.combatmission.com/community/showthread.php?t=104854 Are the cm:eastern front series still part of the plan? They would be number one on my personal wishlist .
  18. Are there actually german vehicles that carry extra 7,92 Kurz (Stg 44 ammo)? I havent found one so far. That is a bad thing in campaigns where you have to aquire ammo from HTs and trucks, to have an automatic weapon and no ammo replenishment for it.
  19. Rumors have it that some even slap themselves for every casualty they take! Ever since i ve got CMSF i wanted maximum realism, regardless of difficulty. That is why i play Combat Mission after all, isnt it? So I play Iron/Wego. When i started with Shock Force i played RT because i had never played a turnbased game. But WEGO is much more enjoyable! Love it to rewind time an not just to be able to observe all your units actions, but also take a close look at all the little micro dramas that ensue during a battle.
  20. Well, from some of view, they were not the best! Efficiency = cost /gain. Training a guy like Vladimir Klitschko and having him gain years of experience costs millions and millions of dollars, probably. Still he would lose a 20 vs 1 fist fight against bums you could recruit for 30 bucks each on the streets of Ukraine, although they wouldd have -2 expierience and -2 morale. Thus Effciency wise, Vladimir Klitschko would be a bad investment if the rules of boxing wouldnt dictate 1 vs 1.
  21. If my memory is correct, they carry a panzerfaust for passenger use. It can never be wrong to hand that to a combat unit.
