  4. I am just a mere mortal with an IBM PC. But my briefings are written using a plain text file. *.txt I can paste into it the umlaut character and other stuff if grabbed from elsewhere. Seems very simple. Write in your word program and paste to a text file? Here at the end of this random briefing of mine is the test of a few things with special characters... BUNDLE DEAL LIMITED TIME OFFER! All scenario images processed PLUS briefing special characters. Only 10 Euro per scenario.

  6. Technically what you did SHOULD work. I once did a funny Rommel mod and just to take a screenshot, I made ALL the Germans look like Rommel, made all uniforms look like his uniform and then took the screenshot by his famous half-track.   8. I downloaded the moustache mod and see uk-soldier-skin 1,4,7 and 8 bmp files. They all seem fine. I am puzzled. A shader issue perhaps? Are you using some funky shader thing?

  10. Yes, I also became nostalgic after my 5 years break and returned to the cult...errr..I mean the game community. That overlapped with the 5 years that BFC took to make CMRT F&R module. HEY! Maybe if I go away now for ANOTHER 5 years then BFC will make an early war module?
  11. I am not sure exactly. I definitely want to retire from content creation but might still play CM. A good long break is needed.   13. You are fast becoming on par with many old timers. But if maybe you don't know (YET) there is an artificial brightness hotkey. Look in hotkeys. I think alt-B but I am not sure. Sometimes my fingers seem to know on the keyboard but my brain can't say. alt-I gets rid of icons and other useful things for screenshots. OUTSIDE THIS THREAD there are many threads that argue/discuss/debate/question/analyze the CM world and how the fog and mist and darkness impact spotting wrongly/rightly/realistically/crazily. Maybe you get the picture? I guess artificial brightness just lets the human looking at the monitor see things better. You are near my age. Do you remember the older TV shows that you know are filmed in the daytime (you see the shadows!) but they use a lens shade to LOOK like the dark evening? Hilarious. We look forward to your first scenario.
  14. I am not sure. Lots of things can happen when you mess with files and use mods. If you want me to investigate and try to figure it out, can you please show a screenshot of the ghost face soldier?
  15. You will be in the jackboots of Feldwebel Walter Rubarth of Panzerpionier-Bataillon 49. Only a few rubber assault boats made it across the Meuse. Can you complete the mission that resulted in Rubarth's Ritterkreuz? I have it out for testing. I played it several times and made some tweaks. I enjoyed it. FR40B RUBARTH'S RITTERKREUZ On 10 May 1940, the Germans commenced their invasion of France and the low countries. 3 days later they were at the Meuse River... OBJECTIVES: CONCRETE BUNKERS: Up to 1000 points WOOD BUNKERS: Up to 250 points FRENCH SOLDIERS: Up to 200 points Battle Duration 50 minutes. You start the scenario with a forward observer in position on the German side of the Meuse. He has 4 Stuka Missions and 2 batteries of 105's. You must use them all at the very beginning. Target whatever you desire to help Feldwebel Rubarth complete his mission. Use the area target with a 200+/- meter diameter. NO PIN POINT TARGETING. This simulates the Luftwaffe attack that preceded the crossing operations. 10th Panzer Was stripped of its heavy artillery for use by 1st Panzer Division. Feldwebel Walter Rubarth and his "Stosstrupp" arrive at T=10 minutes. Rubarth is a Platoon HQ of 1 or 2 men (random). 2 Breach Teams 1 Flamethrower Team 1 Infantry Squad The actual crossing is simulated. They arrive with their "rafts" on the far side of the Meuse north of the destroyed bridge. They have an ammo crate with SMG and rifle ammo. Good luck!

  18. For the 170x170 cover image and many other simple things like TACMAP I use freeware paint.NET I use GiMP for texturing but somehow I must always do a final open and just save in paint.NET or in game I get black textures. I use an old free copy of Photoshop for alpha layer work

  20. FOR YOUR FIRST SCENARIO I ADVISE TO KEEP IT SIMPLE. I best enjoy writing a scenario that is only playable as human on one side because it is easier and quicker to write and you can focus your efforts for the other side AI pan. HUMAN PLAYER SIDE: write briefing, make TACMAP. Use all 3 colors for set up zones for something cool to control the human. AI side: no briefing required. no tacmap required. AI Plan 1 gets tested and then maybe AI Plan 2 and 3 are just some variations on what happens. The various points are always a hassle for me to make end perfect.
  21. a few additional thoughts...maybe not all applicable but I wanted to puke it out for the record For scenarios where it is "playable in all modes", the human wants to have flexibility to position HIS troops as he desires. Allies or Axis side. Some players get all angry if you limit them too much. oh well. The 3 different color set up zones can be fun to try and allow some flexibility for some units but not have a big gun up forward too far for example. You can have discontinuous usage of the 3 colors. 2,3,4+ big reds in the back. 2,3,4+ oranges mid way. 2,3,4+ pinks up front. same for the blue side. The AI does what it is told. the little yellow dots and you face the unit with the green dot. 32 groups now I think and 5 AI plans. LOTS OF DOTS. in the editor make sure all the stuff is in the proper colored set up zone(s) that match to the yellow set up dot of the AI plan for that group...OR IT GLITCHES. I think I rattled that off correctly. FUN STUFF!

I can walk you through it if you want... for both the Mk2 and Mk3 you want to: Gather from CMBN brz folders the raw files. the main mdr and usually its mates (some several lod files). <EDIT: Gather this in a folder in your CMBN z fodler, named whatever you want> gather the texture files and normal maps, the numbered set the chinstrap too. is there a single one or 2 different? I don't know. ok, so we are going to trick the game to think it reads the mk2 but it really just shows the mk3 make copies of the mk3 mdr and rename as mk2 make copies of the mk3 textures and normal maps and rename as mk2 if the number of mk2's offered is less than the number of mk3's, then you will need to past additional as needed then slap it all in z and fire up old Bessy

  25. Yes, this is good observation on your part. You are a good new man to the forums! I do fantasy dream to go in Blender and create something with the "parts" that are available. But then I also think my time is best applied to scenario or campaign creation for the FRANCE 1940 project.
