  1. I think flamethrower teams need good support teams to suppress the enemy. For example, the other Saturday my wife grabbed our flamethrower from the garage and said we should attack the neighbors. I suggested that I cause a distraction by blowing up their car in the driveway and emptying a few AR-15 magazines into their back fence. Rebecca was then able to low crawl forward undetected and start a really great fire in their livingroom. Later after the firetrucks had left, we all enjoyed a few cold beers and had a good laugh. They do have a few demo charges so I know they might get us back THIS weekend.
  2. Hi James. I wish I would win powerball and we would pay BFC to do it all. But now breath in reality... Festung Budapest IS a fascinating project. I used an ASL historical module to give me a small scenario idea for "Uncles and Pups". EDIT: I played the scenario in VASL against my forum buddy @Heinrich505 and really enjoyed it. Having Gary around as a teacher-opponent is great. He has a LONG term cultivation of the ASL rules. I attacked as the Soviets. From my VASL AAR log: 16 Oct2022 Festung Budapest FB1 Uncles and Pups (Gary as Hungarians&Germans/Phil as Soviets) Gary wonNOTES: We scrounged this one up from internet research as we do not own the HASL module. I wish I did but it is too much money and out of stock. Gary has nailed 3 of 5 SU's. I had a lone leader Sgt Chekhov eventually clear mines off the railway. He did have a MMC of 6-2-8 assault engineers with him but they got shot up and broke. It has been a blast and last night a storm hit my area and we had to shut down. It is a cliff hanger as it was the top of the 5th and it is the final half of a turn. We had ALREADY played the Combat Mission Red Thunder version I had created just a few weeks ago where I won as Soviets but mostly due to my errors in setting up the scenario in that game system. The next night we finished the remaining half of a turn, Gary had amazing luck with a perfect die roll for getting a panzerfaust for a MMC and then for a leader. THEN he rolled hits for both and the insane 32 TK for PF left both of my 2 remaining SU's as burning hulks. That killed that half of my required victory conditions. I then went on to successfully take the railway building in CC. But that was just half the VC required and so I lost. I then had a renewed vigor to make a mod "CMRT Festung Budapest"...! For translating into the CMRT version I re-did some old mods. I played it H2H against a buddy. I think it was great. I was axis and had my Hungarians but also a Waffen-SS Pak40. I did this by purchasing German Army modded as Hungarians and Waffen-SS were themselves on my all-time favorite autumn oak leaf coats and helmet covers. I had a German voice set modded to sound Hungarian from CMBB files with a lot of German bleed over so it worked semi-ok. If CMRT had one more non-German axis nation, I would not have to double-duty the German voices. But the entire extra step of adding in an AI plan to "Uncles and Pups" is such a buzz kill for me. My expanded Buda map never got fully finished. I actually used the CMAutoEditor (1.0?) to set the elevations lay of the land but never went back to do the other fine details of buildings and such. My original scenario map was smaller... For other mods, I made a Csaba armoured car. Pitbull made me a nice vehicle crew uniform. I have a half-finished Zrinyi assault gun. Half-finished Kiraly SMG standing in for the MP40. As usual, my goals and desires exceeded talent and time available. If anybody wants this pile of goodness, I can post a dropbox link. Maybe take it (discard whatever as you desire) and carry the torch forward.
  3. I have Windows 7 still so I can't harness CMAutoEditor according to Herr OberCodenFuhrer @Butschi so I do maps old school. Luckily this is not so complex.
  4. This is super hilarious to admit but I am going to paraphrase BFC to describe my current headache! I am stuck between using my limited time and effort to either produce new content (scenarios maybe a campaign I hope) or develop the features (Blender mods and textures for new vehicles or troops). If I make the mods but nobody makes a scenario then we have a problem. I take a long time in Blender because I am an amateur. Maybe a mix is best? Yes, I think a mix is the best choice. So, I guess I will focus 80-20 for content-features. 80% for scenario work. 20% for Blender. And yesterday after a long pause I have gone back into my dining room project. It did feel really good. I rigged and installed 4 electrical boxes. It was a "no PC day"...! I am not retired, not semi-retired - but just dialed back significantly from CM hobby creative efforts. All deadlines and estimated delivery dates are hereby rescinded and cancelled. I will just release it when it is ready. That sounds oddly familiar! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am in progress making a map for the below scenario. An ASL scenario written by Lionel Colin. I played it in VASL against @Heinrich505 and I think it can translate over nicely to the CMFI France 1940 Mod. A Real Barn Burner Bois-Du-Seuil Farm near Amagne, France 1940-05-31 Overview: In contrast to their comrades to the west, the French Aisne River front held firm against the German attacks in May. The 14éme division d’infanterie, one of the best French units, manned the front near Rethel. On 30 May, a reconnaissance in force was launched by its 35th Regiment toward the village of Amagne held by the Germans. This attack was successful in pushing back the Germans, and afterwards the French retired to their starting positions south of the Aisne River except for a platoon commanded by Lieutenant Gehin, which remained concealed in an isolated farm. The goal was to lure the Germans into thinking the area was empty of French troops and catch them off-guard in an ambush. The plan worked well initially but the German were soon launching an attack on the farm with two infantry companies, supported by a light AT gun. The barn caught fire, and the fight lasted all night. The morning of 31 May found the encircled platoon still stubbornly repulsing German attacks. At noon, the French launched an attack by 3éme Compagnie to try to rescue the last elements of Gehin’s platoon. Attacker: French (35ème Regiment d'Infanterie, 14ème Division d'Infanterie) Defender: German (Infanterie-Regiment 184, Infanterie-Division 86)
  5. Sadly I have not found any old CMRT Winter Mod folders and files on my PC. I am wondering where exactly they are... Maybe once BFC's CMRT FR module came out I was thinking they were obsolete and redundant and deleted them? That is not my usual style to do that. For now. Nothing to pass on to you. Sorry. EDIT: One of my faults is curiosity. I went into CMRT and looked at FR The Rites of Spring. I tweaked the settings to see why the horizons are not snowed. My theory: Long story short is that the scenario seems to be briefed to occur in Hungary but BFC did not add a dropdown region for Hungary. 3 picks are Soviet Union, Eastern Europe and Germany. The scenario author set region to Germany. Modtag [hungary] was imported. So houses and such are Hungarian. But also my theory is that Germany region has some horizons for Berlin tied to modtag [germany city]. I wasted some of my life trying to fix this but was not successful. Sorry #2. EDIT #2: My other fault is tenacity. I went and figured it out. @StieliAlpha Here are the horizons that fix the CMRT FR The Rites of Spring scenario. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/bzpyls4y5y0ugtk/AABP7hDd5l4F1lR_kQ2CK5P2a?dl=0
  6. I can take a look today and see what is up. Been about 8 years!
  7. @ham17 If you or anybody else wants to try and make a Budapest 44-45 scenario using the mod, I can TRY to provide assistance and advice. Let me know!
  8. Hi Ham. I just saw your post from April... I **WAS** working on a few Buda scenarios but hit some snags and drifted away to another CM project.
  9. 1-2-3-4-5, 5-4-3-2-1 test complete roger, out
  10. tuffhaus mod thread https://community.battlefront.com/topic/140651-tuffhaus-project-building-mdr-swap-experiment/?do=findComment&comment=1897535
  11. I have a thread somewhere (and others have done this too), where I ran tests in CMRT with Soviet Maxim HMG firing at a German squad in various buildings. I recall that the churches had the best protection. BFC goofed this all up in my opinion. There SHOULD HAVE BEEN a clear distinction in visual look AND game code parameters by stone buildings versus wooden structures with regards to protection. Like with ASL boardgame, you have wooden light construction structures and stone heavy construction structures. In CM instead we have various buildings with BOTH options for wooden texture look AND stone look but no rhyme or reason to level of protection in the game code. oh well. So, I did make a mod called [tuffhaus] that used one of the church mdr 3D models but altered to look like a solidly built house. It seemed to work to offer better protection to the troops inside.
  12. I added the shovel position mod to the previous dropbox link along with the spike bayonet mod. So go back and grab it if you like. 2 versions, full time use with no modtag and modtagged with [britbayonet]
  13. CMX3 will have female soldiers so we are just getting prepared for the new focus on soldier butts.
  14. @Falaise Mission completed I think. I emailed it to you. Put in CMBN z folder. Take a look and see if it is adequate.
  15. I think it is the British Army shovel. It had 3 parts. The wooden handle and the metal part in a cloth bag. @Falaise probably has an actual one used in Normandie.
  16. so, this is my assignment from @Falaise Make this look better.
  17. FRANCE 1940! Where am I with this? I have gone off on vacation for quite a while. In the background, I am working with @JM Stuff on a Belgian sub-mod with the famed Chasseurs Ardennais. A pack of maybe 5 small scenarios during the first days of the campaign 10 May 1940 near Bodange. JM loses his cherry on his first ever map and first ever scenario. We must cheer him on! This will not be ready until later this fall I predict. I have a few tasks to fix things on the Char B1 bis and the Panzer I and Panzer II. The Gold Pack needs a fair bit of work. None of the scenarios are ready. Anybody want to write a France 1940 scenario?
  18. @Falaise also asked me to take a look at repositioning a British gear item. "the individual tool sinks too far into the soldier's buttocks" I will just narrate that mini-project here for any Blender-interested forumites out there. Task 1 is to go find the appropriate mdr and bmp files and bring them to my Blender working folders. I usually tinker with these mini-projects with a cup of morning coffee in a small window of time after I arise from my slumber. to be continued
  19. Thanks. I think I am about there! In Blender you see stuff in meters as my default. You can click an option to see edge lengths. I had seen that "mounting block" (that clicks on the barrel) at about .04m in length and from photos the spike portion was about ~4.5 multiples of that. So I up scaled the spike in x axis first 1.5, no good (too long she NOW says!), ctrl-Z, tried 1.25, still no good, ctrl-Z and found the sweet spot 1.2 scaling. adjusted it in x axis position, took a look in rendered mode and then exported and got the hell out of there. I am an amateur Blender hacker technician 3rd class. Maybe honorary second class! Jeez
  20. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/pcmq1rvqd32zx0a/AAA92pqXVBSLysI15w-e6P87a?dl=0 CMBN British Army Spike Bayonet Mod 31 May 2023 I made this in Blender at the request of mon ami @Falaise It adds a bayonet to the Lee-Enfield No. 4 Mk. 1 rifle. I changed the name of the bmp file from enfield.bmp to enfielb.bmp so that the scoped enfield still gets properly displayed using enfield.bmp but the spike bayonet is a dark metal texture with a shiny tip. I dialed in the length based on measurements from photographs. 2 versions are there. Choose option a. full time use with no modtag Choose option b. modtagged use with [britbayonet] modtagged scenarios. Be careful you don't cut yourself lads! kohlenklau @Bootie place on CMMODS if you desire. Use the below image I guess...or any you like from a few earlier posts. Thank you Shane.
  21. Phil to Mark, Phil to Mark, come in, over. We all are wondering how you are doing. Please give us a signal that you are ok. Or the middle finger or whatever! :D

I swung through Dorset the other week. Tim and I drained a few pints and saw Bovington.

  22. Idea: When you are in your scenario try hitting alt-T a few times as this cycles (full trees-->stumps-->nothing)
  23. Do your bridges suffer from bumps? Perhaps new Smoothevor is for you? Talk to your doctor about this once a map solution to your bridge bump issues. Side effects include headaches, irritability, amnesia and insomnia. If you are breast feeding, discontinue use of Smoothevor.
  24. It seems a little too short. Luckily, I saw an online article for special pills GUARANTEED to make it longer. After I get them I will offer the British spike bayonet to CMMODS.
