ALLIED HQ/AAR CMPzC Operation Nyakleves
kohlenklau replied to Concord's topic in Combat Mission Red Thunder
OK with Concord? Snols: forest assault with T-34/76C, Penal Company and Starshina leader unit. Pallebahtep: Migojo assault with T-34/85 and rifle regiment. Battles are on beautiful custom maps by Concord and I am writing the battle up. It should be ready in a day or 2. Tonight I can share you a dropbox download link to see the map without any units for your battlefield recon. When the battle is finally ready, I will set it all up and enter the team universal passwords. I will get your e-mail address and invite you to share a dropbox. I will send the password by PM. -

I have been thinking about my above idea and decided to NOT go with it but to stay with a series of 50~55 minute individual battles. We will still use a big map but I will NOT try that umpire rearranging thing. I do want to have some slight variety in the weather and the time of day. I will do my best to recreate the damage on maps as carried over from earlier battles. Plus I think it is a good feeling to complete a battle versus a long never ending battle. -
Hi Dave, Yes. snake_eye passed me the map so we can continue to work it once we get more of a team together and iron out a few things. I also have someone working the op map and we've layed a hex grid over it. We may need some more CM maps done. It all depends on interest level and how big an operation we decide is best based on this conflict. Tonight or tomorrow I will post our op map {WIP} with snake_eye's map {WIP} overlayed so we can see what areas we might need done. I don't know what is best yet...

Battle is custom map and I am writing the battle up. It should be ready in a day or 2. Tonight I can share you a dropbox download link to see the map without any units for your battlefield recon. We have the best info right there. Soon your side will maybe have some recon flights or the CO can move in closer with Aufklarungs units. Sometimes they can make a better determination of the enemy unit numbers. Sometimes they still get the same X-XX-XXX stuff. When the battle is finally ready, I will set it all up and enter the team universal passwords. I will get your e-mail address and invite you to share a dropbox to start the defensive set-up. I will send the password by PM. -

Hi SlowLarry, Thanks sir. I will use "Großbutterei Langsam-Lorenze" I visited the town where my mother's side relatives (maiden name Kuhlthau) came from, they departed Germany in 1840. Obersel, Germany. I saw our family birth house and butcher shop "Metzgerei Kuhlthau". I am named after that man who left first. EDIT: I think he is my great-great-great grandfather. I better verify with my mom, 2 greats or 3? I forget. -

We have Mirek for Migojo but need 1 more PBEM Foot soldier for the forest battle. Come on! Volunteer up front...! @Serk @Heinrich505 Either of you guys want a battle? -
CMPzC Operation Donetsk "Little Stalingrad" Anybody interested? Read on and PM me if you want to enlist into the development team. I have some folks already onboard. I envision 2 teams. Ukraine Army vs. Separatists. Each team has a CO making the operational decisions and then the CM battles go to his stable of PBEM foot soldiers. The CM battles will be fought with units made from real world OOB and TOE. These will not be quick battle points types of CM battles. Yes, you may be called upon to defend a hex with just your platoon against a company assault. We’ll use “leader units”. We’ll have “Action Cards”. There will be some appetizer mini-battles prior to the official kick-off party. Needed: A. CM Mapmakers! B. Operational Map designers! C. Modmakers! D. OOB experts for this specific conflict! E. Unit Counter artists! F. CM Battle designers! G. Beer and sandwiches! The starting point will be my usual 10-10-10x10 sanity maintenance protocol. Max of 10 turns of 2 hours each, maybe spread over 2 days. Max of 10 units per side. Op map is a max of 10km x 10km. This can all be dialed down smaller if the interest is not adequate to support even that. The above plan is mine and is subject to any good ideas coming in to correct my misconceptions and make things better. ETA: none at this time.

I guess I have confused you with that Migojo night battle at 0400. Think of that as a prequel outside the actual timeframe of the operation. 0600 is the start of the operation. Turn1. Allies went first so think of that as turn 1a which continues on with their assaults and THEN we start your axis portion of turn 1, called turn1b and you get to make moves and declares assaults. So, we are now still in turn 1a and the 2 assaults will be resolved in CM and THEN we start turn 1b. So, sit on those moves til the CM battles are completed. Your moves may change based on the battles! -

OK Pallebahtep, do you prefer the birdwatching fresh air hike into the forest or the stroll through the majestic village streets with shops and restaurants? -

Fusiliers again Mirek? Take care of your troops Hauptmann! Do you understand the diagram? You are white box in Migojo. You lost a few men by incoming fire. The attackers come from the red box. NOTE: In this panzer campaigns map we have limited map selections and we have had to make the north direction over on the right edge to align with some very nice topo maps of 1944 Hungary. In your CM battle map the north is the north. For this Migojo battle, like with the sapper night probe, the Soviets will come from the east. Understand? Not all of those red box units can assault. Your men were able to "disrupt" one unit with defensive fire, so that one cannot get organized for the assault! But you have an unknown number of vehicles and soldiers assaulting. XX vehicles 10-99 unknown but most likely less than 20. XXX soldiers. Could be 300-500? We'll soon see! -

I will start putting the battles together. They will be 50-55 minutes long. When the clock shows red countdown, both players must stop and notify their CO and you tell me. This is to preserve fog of war. -

Here is what you can see. You had some automatic defensive fire as they moved towards you. Took out a T-34/76C and a sum of about 2 dozen men. Disrupted a battalion also. They fired some weapons at you and the Fusiliers lost 4 men. -

The allies have completed their moves for turn 1a and declared 2 assaults. 1 against Migojo and 1 against the forest. Screenshots of what axis can see coming right up... fabishdFGM: please call up 2 PBEM commanders for these battles! Let's get ready to rumble! -

You all are invited to come up with 2 or 3. Maybe an armor officer or tanker sergeant with a backstory. An infantry officer. Some sergeant, maybe one of the engineers? rank, name, unit, an image if you can scrounge one up and a sentence or 2 of backstory. I can whip up the little unit thing for PzC. -
