  1. @Erwin "THAT" could be your secret power! It would take talent and would be a fine contribution to get/borrow/procure a few of these scenario ideas from these other games and in some easy way put them out in your own thread or wherever you thought best up in CMX2 sections or by PM? Translate into CM relatable concepts would be the value added. I don't know. Now, for me, if you found any CMRT Romanian Mod scenario ideas, that would be a great contribution in my opinion, just because that is what I am focused on. But I do love the Ardennes stuff... In the course of the big war, there are so many tiny vignettes that deserve a CMX2 scenario! Just my idea based on what you said in the other thread for mapping mod images!
  2. @benpark What I would think when I would see the WW2 bmps's is that somebody at BFC hooked up with a WW2 uniform collector or a museum and would lay out the actual uniform very neatly and take a high res photo with proper lighting as needed by the game, then flip it over and do the back. same with sleeves and the pants. Then in photoshop move it all around as needed. For CMCW, Bil said he was doing these type chores for gear and such. He musta went out to his garage or up in the attic and took photos of his old 782 gear!
  3. It is interesting to see that these CMSF2 bmp's are very precise in what is on the bmp for mapping versus what I am used to seeing for the WW2 titles' bmps. MikeyD gave us the view with an overlay of the skeleton 3D model. Must be his "BFC insider" plug-in for making the art! All that extra woodland on the edges is unused. The UNCON image Mark posted is the "no extra unused stuff is shown". The WW2 titles BMP seem to fill the entire BMP but not much is unused. I am excited to see if things change with F&R's new bmp's and mds's? Is this the sign of different 3D guys involved in WW2 versus modern titles? Just curious.
  4. I had some down time in the office and read through some old threads and MikeyD had posted a Color Graph chart he uses to lay over a 3D model to see where stuff is. I had used one long ago but only on a vehicle. I thought to show beginner modders, or whoever, how useful this is with some images.
  5. "....do you know the way to Kasserine?...la la la lalala...la..." Dionne Warwick <<Her name even says War in it!>
  6. @Falaise I like your joke style screenshots! Here is one for you...
  7. "I wanna play a PBEM in the desert tonight...with a million stars all around..." Eagles, (Peaceful Easy Feeling)
  8. Memories of making my own Soviet quilted winter garment...! The top quality real Louis Vitton from @benpark will soon be here. No more cheap sweat shop knock offs from kohlenklau...
  9. ...and a plethoira, pleathaurs,... A LOT of new uniforms are headed into our hands for modding and what not! No more of these zaney tricks of renaming mds files and modding apples to be oranges. Hooray!
  10. A tsunami of wintery wargaming wonder will soon descend down upon us all! "You gotta ask yourself, 'Have I modded any East front winter camo vehicles?', well..., in all the excitement, I have forgotten myself, you gotta ask yourself, do you feel lucky, punk?" - Dirty Harry Made long ago for the Winter Mod...
  11. hey Frenchy, did you ever solve the missing headsets issue? I have a similar issue with Soviets now in early war model M35 uniforms. No gear!
  12. Just to see that image that MikeyD sent is pretty educational to me. I admit I am a ham-handed photoshop/GiMP/paint.NET troglodyte with yellow sticky notes of the tool commands to remind me of what to do. I have always been of the school of taking the Mona Lisa and paint over her to make the Mona Betty. I always figured some parts of the bmp just didn't matter and now with the polygon triangles there, I see why. @JM Stuff take a look at that bmp with the skeleton dispalyed
  13. I am taking a college course all about this. "Sex, Drugs and Alcohol in WW2"
  14. VISION OF THE MOD (3/30/2021--but subject to change) Mod the main fighting nations of the Battle of France (Britain, France, Germany) to try and portray their CM infantry uniforms in best manner possible. Fallschirmjagers too! Vehicle crew uniforms too. Drag in as many vehicles as we can! Do road signs and some buildings. Maginot line type stuff? Get French names file, French voices, French weapons/helmet from CMFI R2V. Do a simple UI mod in the flavor of Juju. Wart's music mod for ambiance. Release a few small scenarios with the mod. Leave behind a kit for scenario writers to use for the future. This is not going to be H&E! <<reverent salute towards those folks>> and just like I woulda told Anna Nicole Simpson on that -date with a fan- I mighta won: "I cannot tell how big it is until I actually get my hands on it..."
  15. Spike, you had me for a while. But, hahaha, we both know that is not 100% true...you're in charge of the music mod! Agreed?
  16. OK, I did what I usually do. I created a folder on my desktop. That is where kohlenklau starts it all off... "CMBN FALL GELB" modtag will be [fallgelb] I guess I start to sweep stuff into subfolders in the main folder...French voices, French names, French fries I don't want to feel like the PTA with the same group of parents always doing everything. @Warts 'n' all Spike! Come on and join in the team... :-)
  17. @umlaut Looks like I got some toys to write a Romanian Campaign. Thanks Dennis! Are you putting them on CMMODS3?
  18. I just couldn't resist! I work with a lot of senior citizens. Old veterans of the wars. I have great respect for them. But damn their ears can be awful. Have a great time!
  19. Get some q-tip cotton swabs. Check those ears! Wax builds up quicker than you'd think...
  20. I fully agree. I have had to ask for old activation keys. I experienced exactly what you did! :-) Rapid service on a weekend, always friendly and very comprehensive. Thank you @BFCElvis
  21. If you are a CM WW2 uniform modder and have messed with the mdr's, mds's and bmp's...or are a forum bubba with good inputs...please chime in. :-) What do we have available to "borrow" that can best present on screen as the earlier Soviet uniform? Germans: Among all the titles, we have the M43 ("double" inner/outer open collar, thigh length tunic), the various wraps, the smocks, the great coat, CMFB added in some hoodies, the Luftwaffe camo stuff and FJ bonesack. What will F&R bring? Soviets: CMRT so far has Soviet M43 with the "mandarin" collar and 3D modelled shoulder boards. T-34 tank crew coveralls. F&R brings some "good new stuff" British/Commonwealth: war economy waist lengthy battle dress jacket, the spiffy shorts ansd shirt yacht club combo, tanker coverallls. Great coats Italians: Rome high fashion open collar uniform. Tanker leather coat and that funky helmet. I just bought R2V. Anything new? South Africans/French/Brazilians: I still gotta look it over in depth (But I assume nothing really new for 3D models) Ooops, forgot my own country! USA: nothing there we can use as far as I can tell. What can be grabbed to BEST portray the early war Soviet collared uniform? <I don't have the "M number" handy.> My current thought is to try and make the current Soviet M43 shoulder boards transparent and then just add rank badges to the collars and see how that presents itself...
  22. I have "dipping a toe into the waters of blender" on my list for April. My wife reminded me that kitchen cabinets are ALSO on the April list.
  23. Yeah, he took the grenade mdr and reworked it in blender and then saved it as the demo charge file name but it still looks for the grenade texture. The OTHER stick grenades stay unaltered. Both axis and allies demo charge would appear as this grenade bundle. warning to scenario writers.
  24. We are trying to improve the Romanian uniforms. Add some wear and tear. The summer tunic/jacket was a light khaki cotton material and faded out to very light khaki and we are working on that. The one we show now is the wool version for cooler weather. It held its color. I got a few more scenarios in the works and EVENTUALLY a Romanian campaign "Quiet flows the Don"
  25. Hey Mark, Frenchy56 did the blender work. He is pretty awesome! In my dropbox folder connected to my link is his new demo charge mdr, a modtag text file I did to summon it forth in scenarios and a short readme I did up. In the readme I said the below: This is the modding work of kohlenklau and Frenchy56. I had the idea. Frenchy56 did the mdr file work. It uses the existing bmp for the German stick grenade. I made the modtag text file for your scenario folder. WARNING: Frenchy56 said that both axis and allies use the same mdr so if you summon this mod for German breach teams for example, then the ALLIES get the same image in the game. So, don't purchase engineers for the other side I guess is the work around. kohlenklau 3.27.2021
