  1. It gets worse! I was playing a PBEM once and the battle ended. Down there in the set up zone were several units I just somehow never got moving along into the action. It was a big map. I prefer the small battles exactly because I can manage the brain power. Too big a map and too many units...I start to smell the toast burning! My Mom (R.I.P.) used to play scrabble to keep her brain working and prevent alzheimers. Something worked, maybe not the scrabble. I try to think and hope that CM is my scrabble.
  2. Just to share scenario hacks, I once used a workaround for a Tobruk scenario. I just used an immobilized mobile artillery, but I forget if just a 105mm or it was a 25 pounder. You're Canadian! It says you guys made sort of a 25-pdr version of the M7 Priest and called it the Sexton.
  3. I am sure that I have CMISD. Combat Mission Information Saturation Disorder. I get what is in the titles mixed up. I am forgetting what is an actual unit to purchase and see on the map versus off-map only. And I think it only gets worse with each new module! Just yesterday I told a buddy I was looking forward to modding FJ's into CMRT. He said "they are already IN CMRT..." Now with so many new titles, CMSF2, CMBS, CMCW...shudder to think, maybe someday Space Lobsters(?)...I start to feel like I am lost in my own museum... Is there some non-FDA approved supplement I should be taking?
  4. @Heinrich505 Vas ist los, mein kamarade? Glad to see you back here! Taking a break from the choo-choos...?
  5. Of all the helmets for the various countries in CM WW2 games, I think only the German one is divided down the middle like a clam shell. <<Reminds me of a Springsteen song "Someone took a knife baby edgy and dull and cut a 6 inch valley through the middle of my skull"...>> This is because the decals on either side are then in a very controllable location on the uv map. Other countries that have emblems up in the front like the US and Italy have the seam in the back of the helmet vertically but with a little Jewish beanie (yamakuh?) circular area separate. The location of the insignia on the forehead is thus again in a nice area on the uv map. I used to look at these bmp texture files and wonder why they were the way they were? But once you dork around with blender it makes a lot more sense.
  6. All is cool. I have been farting around in Blender recently so this particular issue caught my eye. That helmet you like was a mod by npye and was for his Stalingrad mod. I will gather up those helmets he did and make a new dropbox link to put here in your thread. Here is a dropbox link to the previous fix offered for the SS snow helmet with distortion. But I couldn't find a good chicken wire helmet to replace the really ugly non-snow chicken wire helmet discussed above. Somebody will create one or has created one. Also here in this download are the old npye Stalingrad mod helmets filenamed as they are (not for SS at that time) . Some are old 1942 era with decals on both sides. Delete what you don't want. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/3y6u2jnswpdktkn/AAAQ1WKZxM3EaA1sYsKQer9Ca?dl=0 At least you know it wasn't your graphics card!
  7. I was wrong. This is the main culprit. smod_german_ss_helmet-soldier 2 It should look symmetrical with the modtag [snow] a little different but still displays ugly at the uv seam here is a mod that seems to work
  8. I just noticed old Hans has his Panzerfaust aiming device in the up position. Maybe he soon will not have to worry about that chicken wire being messed up...
  9. @Almac Here is a temporary fix of another snow type helmet without Ace Hardware Chicken Wire so you don't see that monstrosity any longer. Put in your CMRT z folder. If you don't like it, just delete it. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/3y6u2jnswpdktkn/AAAQ1WKZxM3EaA1sYsKQer9Ca?dl=0
  10. blame it on the cat when you walked off to take a leak
  11. @MikeyD Looking at folder v210e...I see that the bmp and the normal map bmp for the culprit helmet mentioned above is not aligned like all the others. Just a little toggle in its position might cause some distortion on the uv map...right? smod_german_ss_helmet-soldier 2 [snow] smod_german_ss_helmet-soldier 2_normal map [snow]
  12. @benpark I know you are not Charles "brain in a jar" (poor guy, I always wonder does he (and Steve too) ever play the games he designs?) Does the mdr file carry the data with it so if I took it over to CMFI, it retains the appropriate cover/concealment characteristics? I can test it but figured I would ask first... Thank you Ben
  13. @benpark Thanks. You were my next person to ask. No 3D model. That is very interesting! It makes me wonder how the game knows the height difference for cover and concealment, stone wall, tall stone wall, brick wall, tall brick wall. I am thinking to make an "Arabic style wall" for North Africa around a small domed mosque. But in CMFI, not CMRT. I guess I am out of luck. Using a wood fence, the cover value will be much lower.
  14. Thanks but that is not what I was looking for but I might have to use use it anyway. That is the new "rubble (top is damage) wall" that came with F&R. The low wall and high wall that all the titles have...I cannot find the mdr. Very odd.
  15. I did a search of my rezexplode folders. I can't find the wall.mdr files. I see lots of other mdr's for bocage and fences and such. I see the texture ART for the walls. What gives? I need them. I want to mess with it in my mad scientist lab.
  16. A bulk renaming utility helps in this process. If you have mods of a certain uniform that increased the number of file "slots"...then you need to pull out those mods or be sure to have plenty of colored test images 7, 8 , 9 etc. to account for the extra bmp's.
  17. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/wiom622lmk13e0h/AAAd37TpR0CUWcHUt4BBOCGea?dl=0 This kit I made to examine the CMRT Soviet Partisans. It can be renamed as needed to test and analyze other uniform mds skeleton files and bmp textures. Set different colors for the bmp sets of a certain uniform. Then change the mds to the name of your mds being analyzed. If you need more files of a certain color, you just copy and paste. This mds is the Soviet greatcoat. So, when renamed to "something else" you view in a scenario editor deploy units and will be able to then see what uniforms the "something else" mds is linked to. NOTE: Be aware of the unit appearance setting in the editor. Unit appearance and the battle date and the weather are good to make a variety during this testing. They all have a certain control of the uniforms the game displays... If you have questions, PM me. kohlenklau 5/16/2021
  18. I was having a smoke and a drink and it suddenly came to me! Weird stuff. I did things different than before. AND....I now see the small domed mosque in CMFI! I have a few little issues to square away and she will be good to go. :-) I think my heart leads back to North Afrika. A "CM Modding Man-hour" is better spent where there is known interest. I can make a trio of obscure mods and nobody will much play them. So, I think I should stay more on CMFI North Afrika Mod and write scenarios and campaigns and create things in blender.
  19. In a couple days I will do the same with boots and hats.
  20. In this screenshot of a Partisan Battalion (Light) selected purchase. Bn HQ, Co HQ, Platoon and some teams. Dark green and light green are military-soldier-nco and military-soldier bmp's. dark blue was mixed-soldier bmp's. pink was civilian-soldier bmp's. You see only 1 orange guy and 1 light blue aqua guy. Those are the civilian-soldier-nco and mixed-soldier-nco bmp's. The red guys (red, red/white and red/black) are the officers.
  21. I replaced all the partisan uniform bmp's with various colored textures. Not the winter stuff yet... I then substituted the mds of the soviet greatcoat in for the various partisan mds's files. one at a time I did the mds file substitution, and then I quietly observed from behind cover so they wouldn't be startled!
  22. I do not get off on doing this. But I needed to do it to help a buddy with a mod that we are making. A really great mod headed your way you lucky bazterds! :-) GUIDE: A. smod_soviet_partisan-civilian.mds is connected to: A1. smod_soviet_pt_civilian-soldier and A2. smod_soviet_pt_civilian-soldier-nco bmp's. B. smod_soviet_partisan-mixed.mds is connected to: B1. smod_soviet_pt_mixed-soldier.bmp and B2. smod_soviet_pt_mixed-soldier-nco.bmp C. smod_soviet_m43-soldier.mds is connected to: C1. smod_soviet_pt_military-officer-sr_uniform.bmp C2. smod_soviet_pt_military-officer-mid_uniform.bmp C3. smod_soviet_pt_military-officer-jr_uniform.bmp C4. smod_soviet_pt_military-soldier-nco_uniform.bmp C5. smod_soviet_pt_military-soldier_uniform D. smod_soviet_partisan.mds does not appear to function in the game. I might be wrong. Maybe it is somewhere in a different timeframe. D1. smod_soviet_partisan-civilian_uniform.bmp set does not seem to appear. D2. smod_soviet_partisan-military_uniform.bmp set does not seem to appear. IF I MAKE ANY ERRORS AND LATER SPOT THEM OR ARE INFORMED BY YOU OUT THERE, I WILL RETURN TO TRY AND EDIT.
  23. google on youtube a guy named proambulator, he did videos on scenario creation. I hope it meets your needs. Not all in 1 video though...
  24. I tagged you to an old thread called Trying to get AI engineers to blow a hole in barbed wire
