@Battlefront.com, Re: Russian emigration... I really love when people use numbers... And I just happen to know these specific figures by heart at the moment :D Steve, could you please elaborate what's the meaning of the numbers you've given here? Saying just "emigration" is not an answer - details are interesting :)

Yeah, before you know it someone says these emigrants are all spies for Putin! (Worrisome personal thought: maybe they all are!:D)

Remember when someone's Tunguska hosed down his own troops? Something similar occurred here, except it was real. Comments indicate this is a known issue with the Tunguska. No idea what happened to those unfortunate recipients. Offhand, I see no good outcome in the face of that kind of firepower.

    Wow..

Onlookers' pants understandably filled with some involuntary brown stuff, I reckon. (That is, if they survived these fireworks..)

That'd cause a bit of mess in the pants...

Perhaps Artemis' men thought the halftracks were German? Or, some of Skorzeny's lads...

(Blackout conditions: most modern westerners have rarely, if ever, really been in blackout conditions. I have. The "can't see your hand in front of your face" type. I walked right off a 40 foot cliff. (Survival school...the evasion portion. Yes, I evaded. Ow.))

Yes, you evaded. But did you survive?

Curious; do you play the ww2 IFA3LITE mod for Arma 3?

    Stele,

Yes, since a few days. Saw this mod-scenario (Operation Neptune it is called, I believe), and it requires IFA3LITE. Just played this small single scenario, but the mod is pretty good. Gives a nice WW2-feel and with the astounding possibilities in ARMA3 (The maps, the way vehicles can cook off, the unbelievable freedom of movement, the multitude of vehicles and weapons and much more)  it's fun to play.

Be it that I only play single-player so far, I do not know how it works out in multi-play.

  5. Hello,

haven't been playing CM a lot lately. Didn't visit the Forum as much as I used to.

Bought ARMA3 in stead of Final Blitzkrieg (No schwimmwagen!!) and no regrets so far, I must confess. But Combat Mission was, and is, also a beautiful game and the itch to get goin' again gets bigger by the day.

The announcements about the new game engine keep me from buying Final Blitzkrieg, because if I buy a new game, I would very much like to have the new game engine version. But it seems to me that there is a strange absence of Battlefront-messages/notifications/remarks lately.

    They're not gone, are they?

  6. I don't feel that Waclaw is "raining on my parade" with his comments, and I certainly do not see why a little criticism should make him a troll.

One of the first threads I saw when joining this forum, was about the very firm defence that some forum members immediately put up for BF when the latter is criticised. As a newbie I did not participate in that fierce discussion, but I did wonder why it was there.

I've been a member now for some years, and I think that sometimes some members react very defensively when another member says something negative about BF and or it's products.

As long as people are decent I think they should be able to make comments without being labelled a troll or being accused of raining on (almost) everyone's parade..

  7. Ahead of the totally unexpected surprise release of Fortress Italy, a few years ago (while I was waiting in vain for Commonwealth, I believe), there was the same mysterious and seemingly unending waiting game that BF seems to play right now.

They wouldn't dare do something like that again, would they? Not coming out with Final Blitzkrieg, but with something like "Kim Jong-Un's Offensive"??

Anyway, if FB eventually arrives, BF has had enough time to include a schwimmwagen or two..

  8. We are all awaiting the release of CMFB, but in the mean time I would like to ask everyone's attention for the spectacular things Kohlenklau is doing with his WINTER MOD FOR CMRT. It is no less than spectacular! Winter has come to the eastern front and it looks amazing, people! Landscape, soldiers, vehicles, trees, all has been prepared for some nasty winter battles.

Really, this is SPECTACULAR!  DON'T MISS OUT ON IT!

I do not have Red Thunder, but these Kohlenklau winter Mods are indeed stunning.

  9. Final Blitzkrieg could very well appear this week. Why?

Well, I endured months and months of doubt and indecision whether to buy Black Sea or wait for FB or, when finally something arrived, go for the Battlepack. The latter disappointed a bit because it would force me to buy the Vehiclepack also. So, wait for FB, then. A bit. And a bit longer.. And some more..

I cracked, couldn't help myself, wanted to play something new, and I bought Black Sea this weekend.

So, with my luck, Final Blitzkrieg will arrive within days..

  10. I agree that this thread almost goes haywire..

Please people, stay civil. It's just a game..

    Still, two remarks:

    1. If one dismisses training and training manuals as being representative for "actual practice", how can a test be representative for the actual (gunners = dead) gameplay?

    2. Could it be that there is a difference in the death rate of Sdkfz gunners when playing against AI (I never played against a human yet) and when playing against human? Might that explain why some of us see the problem, while others don't?

  11. The fact that we've yet to see "I Was a Halftrack Gunner" in bookstores might also be a clue as to how vulnerable these guys were. And to how so few of them survived the war.

    That ain't no reasonable argument..

I can just as easy state: The fact that we've yet to see "I was an Army cook (or Army administrator or Army grave digger or Army dentist or whatever)" in bookstores might also be a clue as to how vulnerable these guys were. And to how so few of them survived the war.

  12. Totally agree Seedor....even the small universal/bren carriers (that I think have better armour than the 251, but as a passenger you are sitting well up in the air) have better crew protection in the game. Even the other Sdkfz models are not a problem - the 75, 37 and 20mms...just the 251 (not sure about the smaller 250).

Yes, and if the exposure of Sdkfz251 gunners is correct, why don't get the men on German and Allied AAvehicles the same near 100% killrate? They seem to survive unbelievable amounts of enemy fire if you compare it to the Sdkfz251. And some of those AAboys are as exposed, or even more so, as the Sdkfz gunners.

I use the US M15 a lot (love this piece of kit) at ranges that do not differ very much from the Sdkfz251's! But they can last the entire game..

Unfortunately, this is one of those things that most likely won't be changed by BF. We think it is not good, they think it is, end of discussion.
