  1. Collective Battlefront Community : aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW !
  2. But that is exactly the point, where do you stop adding things? BFC have decided to stop with the regular infantry on the Allied side and the SS and FJ on the axis side it seems, other things in other modules.
  3. I guess the thing is if you put the Paras in the module containing the other Commonwealth forces that were in Normandy you have to do a complete make over of the uniforms etc for the graphics and you also have to add in things like the Tetrach tank etc which starts to make the module maybe a bit bigger that BFC are wanting? I.e. the diffrence between a UK, Canadian and Polish soldier is the accent and shoulder patch. Difference between UK Inf and Para is a totally different uniform.
  4. hey that photo illustrates it quite well. As I said before the direct fire weapons will knock sections of the walls out but will take quite awhile before they collapse the entire wall as you are only taking it out brick (or stone) by brick . You can see in the picture that even tho' the roof is gone the structural rafters are still there, they are the bits that bind the tops of the walls, brick or stone, together. If they go the entire mid section of the wall, away from the corner, becomes unstable and will collapse.
  5. Yes the 2nd SS Das Reich was there along with the Panzer Lehr Division, Barkmann was in 2nd SS. 9th SS was drawn north by the British attacks around Cean
  6. Never know, the 82nd might not make a bollocks of it this time.
  7. Or you could have them with the task of building the bridge under fire i.e. they have to occupy the bridge area for the entire scenario while the other guys try to keep the enemy at bay ! I think if some of the lesser noted units were included in the game you could come up with a bit more spice in scenarios, especially if it is part of an on going campaign. Then again, greater detail leads to greater development which leads to greater waiting time, which is the last thing anyone around here wants atm !
  8. Take it easy mate, an AT rifle is something like the Boyes or the Soviet PTRS-41 which are huge calibre weapons that only have one use, i.e. to shoot tanks. An AT grenade is either thrown or there were some projected off the end of a rifle. Either way the three thing encompass a range of different weapons with wildly varying effectiveness.
  9. Sure the idea of a Bangelore was to connect it together and make a length that you could extend through an obstacle with depth but screwing the two together did not take that long, I mean in comparison to wiring up an explosive charge. As for cratering the bangelore was designed to direct the blast sideways, to "peel" open barbed wire and although it did explode downwards most of the force was lateral so the crater would be less so, certainly less that a satchel charge. Having said that, it of course depends on what the roadblock is made of as to how effective it would be. My guess would be that most roadblocks would be made of either a) random junk that a man can pick up and toss in a heap which would not pose much of an obstacle and a bangelore would clear easily or random stuff piled up by an earthmoving machine like a rubble or earth berm which explosives would have a hard time breaching and a bangelore would have minimal effect. Does CM differentiate a hasty or prepared roadblock?
  10. Not long all you had to do was shove it in the right spot and light the fuse. They work on roadblocks too, depending on the block of course
  11. Between AT Rifle and AT grenade ? you got that right they are two entirely different things
  12. I dream of Brigadoon, the mysterious town in the mist where a new CM module is released with the dawn of every day.
  13. Excellent, then we can tell them how much better/harder/simpler it was "in my day"
  14. note to self: read full post before asking question that has already been answered
  15. OK I won't bring up Kodak, Seimens, Bayer, Hugo Boss, Ford, Chase Bank, Standard Oil, Coca-Cola, IBM and Random house
  16. Got plenty o' the Queens Shillin's Colonel, never got sent any wheres though ,(thank God) stayed at home and painted rocks
  17. Oh no it didn't From the Wikipedia on GM: "General Motors produced vast quantities of armaments, vehicles, and aircraft during World War II for both Allied and Axis customers. By the spring of 1939, the German Government had assumed day-to-day control of American owned factories in Germany, but decided against nationalizing them. During the war, the U.S. auto companies continued to be concerned Nazi Germany would nationalize American-owned factories. Nevertheless, while General Motors has claimed its German (Opel) operations were outside its control during World War II, this assertion appears to be contradicted by available evidence. General Motors was not just a car company that happened to have factories in Germany; GM management from the top down had extensive connections with the Nazi Party, both on a business and personal level. During the war Opel's Brandenburg facilities produced bombers JU-88, trucks, land mines and torpedo detonators for Nazi Germany. During the war years GM declared it had abandoned its Nazi subsidiary, and took a complete tax write-off because of which they have received tax reduction of "approximately $22.7 million" or about $285 billion in 21st-century money. After the war GM collected some $33 million in "war reparations" because the Allies had bombed its German facilities for which they have earlier declared complete tax write-off and received tax reduction." ahhh corporate pragmatism at its best
  18. I thought the Rugby Union was more the game of Wales than League, or am I mistaken ?
  19. No that is the question that Arthur Dent came up with by a random scrabble draw, however the arrival of the Golgafrinshams on Earth fatally corrupted the "Earth program" and thus destroyed the ability to determine the question, which didn't matter anyway as the Vogons annihilated the earth 5 minutes before the program was about to complete. I worries me greatly that I know this stuff.
  20. Sadly the only way to have a go at Airsoft in Oz is to sign up for a 6 year hitch with the Government Club. Airsoft is currently illegal in Oz, or at least the weapons are, might be changing tho'. http://www.airsoftaustralia.com.au/
  21. Was that the one that had the BAOR module ? I absolutely loved that game design. To my mind no other series has captured modern warfare quite so well with arty and air and supply etc all neatly wrapped into an easily playable package. Maps were pretty Gucci too as I recall. I see there is a VASSL Module for it now.
  22. I go with dodger just do an experiment, lie on the ground on your back and see how uncomfortable and vulnerable you feel. "I have seen dead men on their stomachs and on their backs, I have seen wounded men on their stomachs and on their backs. I don't think there is any formula for determining their state by looking at them from the air." Yes I would have thought it better to go down and help rather than just flying above taking notes, but I guess that was one of the big mistakes with Vietnam.
  23. Why would it be more important in Market Garden? If you are talking about the street fighting in Arnhem then it wouldn't matter would it as t\it would be the para's using the PIAT which has no back blast. Of course then elevation becomes a problem because you cannot aim the PIAT "downhill" as the bomb will fall out.
